Melted Violet, Running Gold
By Sierra Omega
Author's Note: My first attempt at sending in a poem... let me know how I did!

I saw them that day
Not so long ago
When I accused you
Of who you were
But I didn't know then

Then, they were clear
And kind
And yet within the depths
I saw something
I couldn't place

What was it that I saw
That drew me to you
That made my heart scream
To be near you
Every passing day?

It was the melted violet
Of spreading kindness
A wave of innocent caring
That washed over me
And made me smile

But then I saw another side
Another window into your soul
That frightened me
But also told me
You would stay by my side

I'd never thought I'd see
The flash of gold
That marked your past as
A ruthless killer
Feared everywhere you went

But when I first saw
Those pools of running gold
They were for me...
They were there to protect me
And keep me from harm

It was those eyes
The melted violet
And running gold
That gave me the strength
I have now

My courage is rising
Though consciousness fades
I cannot breathe
But I will not give up
And let you down...

I see the gold
And I know to be strong
I fear for you
My fear breaks the hold upon me...
I am free

As I lay in your arms
Comforting and warm
I see the violet again
And know that it's over
The danger is past

My captor is slain
My true love has returned
To my side
And I drown in your eyes
The melted violet, the running gold...

Author's Note: This poem takes place right after Kenshin's battle with Jinei/Kurogasa, beginning with a flashback of when Kaoru first met Kenshin and moves to when she breaks Jinei's spell. Hope you liked! Review, pleeeezz!
