You'll breathe again
Yolei Inoue sat behind her bed,
head in hands, tears running slowly down her face. Her beautiful eyes were now
red and teary, her glasses tossed carelessly beside her. Her eyes were focused down
into her lap, legs crossed. Wet splotches marked the places where tears had
made themselves known on her pants. She let them run freely, traveling down to
her chin, dripping slowly onto her lap. She didn't care.
When you feel all alone
And the world has turned it's back on you
"Yolei? Yolei?" a knock outside her door. She looked up,
brushing her tears away softly. "Yes?"
"There's someone outside for you." Getting up slowly,
Yolei checked her eyes in the mirror and put her glasses back on.
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
In the Inoue's living room, Davis Motimoya waited,
clutching a bundle of flowers behind his back. He was shaking slightly, but his
face was set and determined. Walking around the room, he mentally went over
what he was going to say. Yolei, I heard that you were feeling depressed
after the breakup, and I was wondering if I could cheer you up a little….
It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door and you feel like you can't take anymore
She stepped into the room, head down and eyes hooded.
Davis looked at her. "Yolei? Are…are you okay?" At the sound of his voice Yolei looked up. Her cheeks flushed. "Davis?
What are you doing here?"
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
"Uh…well, I was wondering how you
were after the breakup. You know, cheer you up a bit… oh, these are for you."
Davis handed the flowers to Yolei. Outwardly, he looked calm and cool, but
inside his stomach was twisting itself into knots again. Okay, now she's
probably going to slap me and tell me to leave her alone. I shouldn't have come
in the first place. This was all a bad idea. "Uh…Yolei? Maybe I should-"
"No! I love these, they're fine!
I mean, they're so pretty…" Yolei couldn't hurt his feelings. Even though she
felt like shit. "I'm just tired…maybe I should go to bed." Davis nodded
eagerly, a look of understanding on his face.
Because there has always been heartache and pain
And when it's over you'll breathe again
You'll breath again
"You'll be fine, Yolei. I know you will. You're strong."
And with that, he left, shutting the door quietly behind him. She stared after
him, gripping the flowers tightly in her hand.
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
Once outside, Davis visibly sighed and smiled. "At least I
didn't mess up…I think. She'll be okay."
Inside the house, Yolei placed the flowers in a vase and
mechanically sat down with her head propped in her hands. She thought about his
visit. And slowly, a corner of her mouth began to curve upwards. I guess
he's accomplished what he wanted.
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone
A/N: Hey guys, this is an extremely short songfic just to
get me out of writer's block! So, I'll probably improve it after a few days.
This is an experiment.
