The night is so quiet. All I
can hear is Logan breathing. I don't even hear the cars below on the street.
Life is perfect in this moment… Tomorrow I don't have to work so I get another
couple days with Logan before I have to face the world. I can't believe the way
the last few days have gone. Why am I surprised? The moment I admitted my
feelings were more then friends, I was taking a nose-dive into love…
I move into the living room, so I
can move about since I'm wide-awake. Where is Logan's sketchpad and stuff? I
dig through one of Logan's closets discovering a vast array of inks and paper.
I can use this time to write him something sweet…tender. Just get the words out
of my head and onto the page…
My Half
I longed to find
The half I missed
Long ago I lost
The half I thought
Was gone from all
I knew of my past
I found my half
In the heart of a friend
One I trusted to comfort & console
Yet there it was
Amongst the compassion & kindness
Loyalty & love I longed for
So now I'm whole
In the heart of my friend
Who will love, honor, & cherish me
Until my end.
That sounds good. I'm sure he'll
like it. Where is his journal? I'll write it in there as a surprise. OK last
page… Wait a minute. What's this? Another poem for me… I'm not going to read
it… When he feels like sharing, he'll show me.
"MAX!" I hear Logan call.
I hurry to the bedroom. "I'm right here,"
I say sitting next to him.
"Where were you?" he mutters deeply tired.
"In the living room… I'm wide-awake so moved. I
didn't want to disturb you."
"It's disturbing not to wake up with you next
to me, but I guess I'll have to learn to manage," he says with a yawn.
"Will you lay down with me until I'm asleep again?" he says much like
a little kid would.
"Of course," I whisper snuggling into his
outstretched arms.
"I love you Max… I always have…at least it
feels that way. I can't imagine life without you… I don't want to. You make me
complete," he whispers in my ear.
"I know the feeling," I whisper back.
"Go to sleep, my love," I say kissing his cheek, knowing tomorrow he
will read my words and understand more fully.
