A/N: Hey, so this is a small shot in the Guitar Girl universe, so if you haven't read that one before I suggest you do. Also this is highly inspired by the song Shape of You by Ed Sheeran so I would also like to recommend you to give it a listen. Thank you so much for reading and hope you enjoy this! Until next time, xxxx
He can't get enough of her. It's been three weeks and he still wants her with the same passion he did that first night. Even after a night filled with endless orgasms he can still wake up beside her wanting her even more. It's like nothing he's ever felt before. Which only increases those first-night silly thoughts about this being some sort of love-at-first-sight kind of thing.
"Hey," Kate says with surprise evident in her voice. "What are you doing here?"
Rick smiles as he hands her a coffee along with a paper bag with a surprise inside it. "Just figured you could need a little something to keep up the energy," he answers and she accepts the coffee with a smile, which gets even brighter when she sips it.
"You got my order right," she says with joy in her voice. "How..?"
"I'm a writer, remember? I'm a great observer." He shrugs his shoulders but is happy she's surprised in what looks like a good way and not a bad way.
"Yeah, I guess you are," she says with a flick of her eyes downwards and he has to bite his inner cheek in order not to just grab her and kiss her.
He can't stop looking in her eyes though. Her hazel eyes which he dreams of every night.
"Yo, Beckett! Who's the guy?" a man comes up to them with a smirk on his face.
Rick sees her cheeks fluster as she tries to compose her smile, tries to not look at him the way she usually looks at him. He turns towards the man and reaches out his hand. "I'm Rick, nice to meet you."
The man grabs his hand and smiles. "Esposito, but everyone calls me Espo," he says and Rick smiles.
"Nice to meet you."
"You too, nice to see our chica finally found someone other than her work to spend her nights with," Espo said and Kate immediately scolded him.
Rick observes her again and while he can see her irritation with her coworker he can see the slight blush as well, which makes him chuckle. As if on cue her phone rings and she answers immediately, stating they would get there as fast as possible.
"Murder downtown, go get Ryan," she orders Espo and while he immediately walks away to get Ryan she turns back to him. "I'm sorry we need to go, can I text you later?"
He thinks about it for a quick second. "Can I come with you?" When she raises her eyebrow he smiles carefully. "It could be great for research for a new novel I'm working on."
She narrows her eyes and looks at him with suspicion. "No funny business," she demands and he holds up his hands.
"I promise."
After only a few seconds she agrees and he can't help the small skip of joy he does when they are on their way towards the elevator he just came from.
He kept his promise up until she went undercover and decided to wear a smoking hot dress into a club. He was told to stay at the bar, which was a very difficult thing to do when the woman you can't get enough of is dancing seducingly on the dance floor. He couldn't keep his eyes off of her and when she glanced back at one point, and their eyes met, he could see his staring had its own effect on her. She'd immediately looked away from him and he could see she was making the best effort not to look at him again. But it didn't stop her dancing to get even more seducing, which almost made him spit out the drink he had ordered. He can't lie and say he didn't get a bit jealous when the guy they were after came up to her and was lucky to dance with her for a while before she set the plan in motion on getting him out of the club and into the trap they had set up outside.
"Is this how all your cases go?" he asks when he meets up with her outside the club, the perp in the police car on its way to the precinct.
She looks at him with a wrinkled nose. "No, thank god."
He raises his eyebrows and she rolls her eyes. "I don't exactly enjoy having perps checking me out."
"Oh, that's true, didn't like that part either," he agrees, before smirking and stating. "Though I did enjoy the part before that."
She looks at him and bites her lower lip as his eyes go down her body again. His breath hitches when she steps closer to him and her nose touches his slightly. He doesn't even notice the way his hands immediately land on her hips until she's putting her hands over his to keep them from going lower.
"We're in public, I'm at work," she whispers and he's nudging his nose against hers.
"Too bad," is all he can say before she steps onto her toes and claims his lips with hers.
He doesn't stop her because, well how could he?, he's too whipped. Especially after her seducing dancing inside the club. It's when her hands move away from his that he wakes up again from his haze and pulls away slightly.
"Later? Tonight?" he asks and she smiles up at him.
"Yes," she agrees and creates some distance between them. "I better go change, and drive back to the precinct."
"Can I come with?" he asks and she shakes her head.
"I have a feeling that wouldn't be a good idea," she admits and he looks down at her body again.
"No, probably not," he agrees with a chuckle, his fingers itching to touch that dress still hugging her tight.
"Go home, I'll come after my shift," she says and he smirks. "Over. Come over."
She rolls her eyes as she turns around and walks to her car. He looks after her for as long as he can and he has a feeling she puts a bit more swing into her walk than needed just for him. When she's in her car, driving away, he's calling for a cab to take him home.
It only takes two hours before there's a knock on his door and he feels an exciting bolt in his stomach. When he opens up the door he's surprised to see the woman of his dreams in the same dress as earlier that day.
"Wow," he breathes out as he stares at her once again.
"So, you wanna dance?" her eyebrow twitches in that not-so-subtle way and he feels his body react.
He doesn't waste another second, grabs her hand and pushes the door closed as he takes her inside and leads her to the middle of the living area. Once there he lets go of her hand in order to go and put on some music, silently thanking the stars for his mother and daughter not being home tonight. When the music plays he turns around only to see her dancing even more seductively than she did at the club and he realizes she was actually holding back. This time he didn't just look though, no, this time he joined her. His hands on her body, hers on his, as they move around the room. Touching turns into kissing and kissing turns into the start of removing clothes and soon enough they're stumbling into his bedroom with nothing but underwear separating their bodies.
An hour later they're cuddling in bed with his fingers tracing the shape of her body. He can feel her shiver under his touch and it feels so good to be able to make her feel that way.
"So, I've been thinking," he whispers, breaking the silence.
"Oh no," she sighs and chuckles almost immediately after, her eyes meeting his with a twinkle.
"I really, really, enjoyed shadowing you today, even got an idea for a new book," he tells her without actually telling her what kind of an idea. "And I was wondering, do you think I can follow you to work tomorrow too, do some research to make sure the new book will be as accurate as possible."
She wrinkles her forehead at that and he holds his breath, not daring to hope too much. One part of him wants to blurt out the big idea that's circling his mind after today, wants to tell her he finds her so inspiring he wants to base a new character on her. But at the same time he doesn't want to scare her away, they've only been together for three weeks and stating he wanted to base a book on her… it probably wouldn't be the best idea.
"I-I don't think..," she starts with what sounds like a small lump in her throat.
"Please, it would be so much easier to get back to writing and actually be enjoyable to write again after some research."
She looks at him with contemplating eyes, probably thinking about it while her mouth closes and she falls into deep thought. He wants to ask her again because she's so quiet but he tries his best to restrain himself, to let her think. He distracts himself by the continuation of stroking her skin, admiring the shape of her body.
"You know what?" she interrupts the silence and he holds his breath. "If you can get my captain to agree to it, I'm in."
The sudden joy in his body makes him let go of a happy shout and her chuckles makes him lean down in order to claim her laughing lips with his own. She continues to laugh against his lips but doesn't let that stop her from kissing him back as best she can.
"Rick," she says against his lips and he pulls away slightly to look into her eyes, their noses still touching. "I-," she bites her lower lip and her voice turns to a whisper, "I think I'm falling for you."
His body relaxes in a way he never thought possible, relief filling him as he could feel another type of joy just warms from inside. In her hazel eyes he can see how the insecurities of revealing the truth, how she's opening up in a way she's not used to.
"I think I'm falling for you too, Kate," he admits and sees the same relief go through her body.
She kisses him again and their bodies push together just like before, as if they're magnets not able to keep away from each other.
He's so used to it now that he doesn't even move or open his eyes when her beautiful voice breaks through the haze of his dream. Instead he continues to lay still, pretending to still be asleep, as he listens to the voice of an angel.
"I'm in love with the shape of you, we push and pull like a magnet do. Although my heart is falling too, I'm in love with your body. And last night you were in my room, and now my bedsheets smell like you. Everyday discovering something brand new, I'm in love with your body," she sings low, her guitar playing soft music through the room.
She continues playing for a few more seconds before the music dies out and she mumbles to herself. "One week in we, uh… let our feelings… no. One week in we let the story begin," he can hear her scribbling onto a paper. "One week in we let the story begin, we're going… out on our first date." She scribbles some more and continues until she seems satisfied with her lyrics and starts to sing it again from the beginning with no stop.
It's first when the song comes to its end that he decides to move and crop himself up on his elbows to look at her with a big grin, seeing the redness on her cheeks makes him smile even greater.
"You're awake," she whispers and he hums.
"Love the new song," he says and she puts away the guitar as she slides off the chair and goes back to the bed.
"Thanks, I'm thinking of giving it to Lanie tomorrow, see what she says and who knows, perhaps we can play it next Friday," she says as she crawls back into bed, his fingers immediately finding her to pull her closer to him.
"I think you should, but now you should get some sleep," he tells her and she chuckles before it's interrupted with a yawn. "Exactly," he chuckles too.
She snuggles closer to him. "Night Rick."
"Until tomorrow Kate," he promises and they close their eyes, falling asleep with fingers intertwined.
The end
