?

He tried opening his eyes. But all he could see was black.

He tried to scream. But all he could do was gurgle.

He tried to hear. But all he could hear was ringing.

How did he end up like this? What had happened? He looked through somewhat closed eyelids and he could see the debris close to him. The death around him.

His eyes met with someone else's. A person. He wanted to get their attention, but their voice was still gone.

However, the person was looking straight at them. Why hadn't they realized he was alive?

His breathing became heavy, and his eyes shot open as far as they could. They could see the person well enough now. But they couldn't see him.

They couldn't, because they weren't even alive.

He shuddered at the sight. The person couldn't have been older than 15. And now they were gone.

Gone from this galaxy.

Still, he had to move his head. But as he tried, all he could feel was insurmountable pain. Pain that he couldn't place into words, even if he tried.

His thoughts were the only thing that didn't hurt anymore.

But that wasn't for long.

He could see in his mind the images of his friends. The images of their family.

And the image of a girl. A girl he hadn't even known existed until a few days ago.

Yet, he had grown somewhat endeared of her. Of her personality. Of her shyness. Of her.

He really couldn't understand why. But he wasn't complaining.

Out of nowhere, he could hear loud booms in the distance. He could hear the screaming of all. He could hear himself crying as he heard all of the noises.

No.

No. Whoever had thought it was a good idea to come here. Would pay.

But first, he had to get out from wherever he was.

He tried moving his head once more, and found that it didn't hurt as much. His body was full of adrenaline. Of rage.

He looked at his own body, and he could see that he was pinned by debris.

He let out a dry laugh as he saw his predicament. And he began taking slow, steady breaths.

This was what he had trained for.

And it was what he was going to do.

He closed his eyes and focused any remaining energy he had to his brain. To his thoughts.

And soon, his body was enveloped in a blue hue. A blue aura that signaled he was ready.

As he mustered up any remaining courage, he closed his eyes, and focused on the debris as much as he could.

After several failed attempts, the debris began being lifted onto the air. He focused and lifted them off of him, until he was free.

As soon as he had been freed, he stood up. His body begged him to stop. To lay down and accept his fate.

But he wouldn't.

He was filled with rage. And he ignored his body's pleas for mercy.

He saw all around him, and saw the many bodies littering the place. The corpses of his friends.

Gritting his teeth, he walked out of the building he was in, and saw the entire thing.

The once peaceful colony was now on fire.

And the ones responsible, loomed over the clouds. Refusing to head down.

Cowards.

He couldn't do much about them. But he could do something about the ones down here. The ones that were killing everyone.

His body was enveloped in that same blue-purple aura and he made himself a promise.

He was going to kill them.

He shot up from his bed as the dream ended - no, memory - why had it been so adamant in returning?

Sitting up, he opened his omni-tool. Trying to forget what he had just seen. To forget what he had once gone through.

No one should have been forced to do any of that. Especially not when you were 11. A goddamn kid, and he had a higher kill count than most would ever have in their lives.

He didn't regret it though.

As much as he wished he did, he knew that it was either he killed them, or they killed him.

He decided that he should check his messages, hopefully to get something to forget about any of this. Opening them on his omni-tool he saw three mew messages.

The first one had been from Jane.

03/11/2183, 18:03

LTCJS: Hey John! Heard you got promoted to Alliance Commander. Dammit, first you get N7, and now you get Commander? Come on! You're making me look bad! And here I thought we were on good terms! I'm joking, but if you ever feel like celebrating on our next shore leave, drinks are on me!

Lieutenant-Commander Jane Shepard

Systems Alliance

John didn't know how to feel about the message. He knew his sister truly was happy for him. But he also knew she was just slightly mad at it. Not because he had beat her to it, but because of the way the Alliance was treating them both.

The next message was from Hannah.

03/12/2183, 06:45

CHS: John, saw the news of you getting promoted to Commander. I'm so happy for you my son. Just pray that you don't get XO of a ship and the very moment you have the deck the krogan decide to make peaceful relations, and they begin calling you Captain when you aren't! Still, I am so proud of you. You deserve that rank.

Love, Captain Hannah Shepard

Systems Alliance

Did he though? Did he truly deserve the rank of Commander?

He knew the Alliance had only even give him the rank for being an N7, and his actions on Elysium.

However, Jane had also been there on Elysium. And her actions had also played a part in saving the colony. But the decisions she made on Torfan had scared many people. Alliance included.

So now, she was getting restricted from leading squads. But to make sure that the people of Elysium didn't tear them a new one, they gave her the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, slapped the Star of Terra on her and John, and called it a day.

He found it fascinating, how both he and Jane had led people to their deaths. Him on Akuze, and her on Torfan. Yet nobody cared about Akuze since they only had the testimony of one person. A person that was so damaged and needed so much mental therapy that no one believe a word that came out of his mouth. No one believed that he was telling the truth about him getting everyone killed. Himself.

He frowned as he thought of how the Alliance had been treating them and hoped that maybe the final message would maybe cheer him up.

As he opened it, he read the sender and indeed began smiling.

03/12/2183, 09:20

TZ: Hey! Jane told me about your promotion! Keelah, To think it's been over 13 years since we met from children and now you're an Alliance Commander! Just wish I could have heard it from you, and congratulate you in person. But I have to get ready for my Pilgrimage. I am going to miss you. We'll be heading to Illium for it and I hope I get to see some good things there. Only wish you could accompany me, I do like you being with me. Still, if I can I'll keep in contact with you.

Keelah se'lai, Tali'Zorah nar Rayya

John closed his omni-tool and let out a sigh. He had wished to see Tali off for her Pilgrimage, but she had been adamant that he didn't need to, and that unfortunately he most likely would be too busy to even go there.

He stood up from his very uncomfortable bed and began getting ready for a day of probably nothing happening.

Sure enough, the day had gone exactly how he expected. He ate, did some exercise, tried NOT to make a hull breach with his biotics, and spent some time on tasks that he had.

The only things that ever interested him now were when they got to head down to a mission. Or when they were making some upgrades to their vessels. Upgrades that had been thanks to the quarians.

Turned out that Tali hadn't been the only smart quarians on the fleet. So, with some very slightly hostile and reluctant cooperation between both parties, humans gave quarians resources, and quarians helped humans with their intellect and knowledge of ships.

Today though there was nothing new. Just the plain old boring day of doing assignments he wished he didn't have to do.

John eventually made his way towards the bridge of the ship to check in with the Captain.

As the door opened though, he saw that not only was the Captain there, but Jane as well.

What's she doing here?

He pushed his confusion aside and made his way to them as the Captain realized that John was there as well "Ah, Commander. I was just about to ask for your presence here."

John raised an eyebrow "Jane didn't yell at someone again did she?"

Jane crossed her arms and glared at John as the captain responded "Nothing of the sort. Though I wouldn't be surprised if she had. No, we have orders regarding the two of you."

"The two of us?" John asked.

The captain looked somewhat hesitant, unwilling to say another word, but he did the best he could "We have received orders directly from Admiral Hackett. You two are being transferred."

Both of them tensed up and yelled at the same time "WHAT?!"

The captain rubbed the bridge of his nose and exhaled sharply "I know... believe me, I've had you on this ship for around six years. You two are some of the best soldiers I've seen throughout my career, and I really don't want to let the two of you go. But orders are orders..."

John gulped and looked down as Jane asked "So... where will we be going?"

The captain looked through the window of the Detroit's bridge towards the planet in the distance, Earth, before finally responding "You will be transferred to the command of Captain Anderson."

"Anderson? Why?" Jane asked.

The captain looked back at the two and shrugged "I don't know. Orders came directly from Hackett though. Told me it was classified when I asked why you were being transferred."

Both of them sighed as John nodded "Then... if this is the last time we get to see you..." he saluted "It's been an honor serving under you."

Jane did the same to which the captain smiled and saluted them both "And it's been an honor having the two of you under my command."

He dropped the salute and both John and Jane walked out of the bridge "So. Why do you think Hackett wanted to transfer us to Anderson?" John asked.

Jane shrugged and shook her head "Beats me... Still, I am going to miss this ship."

John crossed his arms and let out a smirk "But you didn't miss either the Einstein or Kilimanjaro when we left them."

"Well I got some good memories here."

"OH. So the memories you made when it was just us both aren't important enough for you to care. I see how it is." He said as his smile became more mischievous.

Jane scoffed at him "You know that's not what I meant."

"Do I?"

She groaned as they parted ways to get anything that belonged to them. They spent the next three hours packing and saying their goodbyes to their friends and teammates, as well as the crew. None of them had been happy about either of them leaving, but when an order comes directly from an Admiral it was hard to argue with it.

Four hours after they had received the news, both of them waited for a shuttle that would take them down to Earth, to the Alliance Camp where Anderson would be waiting for them.

The ride there was slow, and very quiet. Neither of them expressing their discontent for getting thrown off the Detroit. The ship they had served on for almost six years.

Not knowing, that what would happen next, would not only be the start of their new lives, but also the start of their legacy.

Alliance Camp, March 12, 2183

Earth

"They're headed this way Admiral." Captain Anderson spoke to the terminal that held the face of Admiral Hackett.

"Good. We don't want to worry them just yet so do not tell them about what is about to happen." Hackett ordered.

Anderson gave a salute and nodded to which Hackett returned the motion "Hackett out" the admiral said before cutting the connection.

Anderson sighed as he leaned against the table. What was about to happen could change humanity forever. And it was all because of what had happened a few days ago.

6 days prior

Anderson paced around the office as he thought about what to say.

"You offered me candidates Anderson. But so far all I've seen is people who couldn't hold guns to someone if they needed to." The person sitting on the other side of the room said.

"I know Ambassador. But the candidates I've given you are some of the only ones I know can do this."

"Not the only ones." Hackett said as he looked at Anderson "You're still missing two."

"I know. But they both have been through unimaginable hells. I don't want to place them under more strain." Anderson argued.

The Ambassador however, was having none of that "We need people who have been through hell! Who know the consequences for failure and accomplish the missions one way or another."

"Tell him Anderson." Hackett ordered.

Anderson let out a defeated sigh and spoke "The best two candidates we have... are Lieutenant-Commander Jane Shepard and Commander John Shepard."

"We can only have one. Council won't give us two of them." The ambassador spoke.

"Right. Still, let's see about them. Both Spacers, lived in starships all their life." Anderson explained.

"Military service runs in their family. Father died from complications of the First Contact War. Mother is the Captain of the SSV Kilimanjaro." Hackett added.

"So? There has to be more to them than just being spacers." The ambassador said almost displeased.

"We're getting there." Anderson said as he held up a hand "The Commander was on Mindoir during the attack. Survived for almost a day on his own. Also survived the death of his squad on Akuze and was one of the two people who made sure we didn't lose Elysium." He said.

"Sounds li-"

"Also an N7 and Alliance Commander." Anderson interrupted the ambassador as he narrowed his eyes "Knows risks better than most."

"Yes, but he may also have some serious emotional scars." Hackett said.

Anderson nodded but continued "What soldier that hasn't seen hell doesn't?"

The ambassador let out a hum as he rubbed his chin before asking "And the other one?"

"She was on the Einstein when it was attacked by Batarians. She also played a key role in saving Elysium alongside her brother... but what she did on Torfan..." Anderson groaned as he thought about it.

"Yes, I've heard of the infamous 'Butcher of Torfan'" The ambassador said with air quotes as he said the name "But she clearly knows to make sacrifices to accomplish missions."

"We're not trying to get squads killed here." Anderson countered "Look, I respect Jane. And I don't blame her for what happened on Torfan, but it made it clear that she isn't above acting on emotions alone."

"Emotions? Torfan was filled with Batarians. Wouldn't the commander have done the same? Actually, why wasn't he on that mission in the first place?" The ambassador asked.

"I ordered to have them both sit it out. But the captain would only relent with one of them. So he took the LTC to Torfan and left the Commander behind." Hackett answered.

"And the rest is history..." The ambassador spoke "But this isn't getting us any answers! We need the right one for this."

Anderson hummed as Hackett thought of a solution "We could send them both to the mission you were speaking of before Anderson."

"Eden Prime?"

"Yes. We can also send them on that new vessel. Get them acquainted with it. They might use it later on."

"The Council is just going to love this..." The ambassador said almost groaning "But I suppose we have our candidates then."

"Yeah. I'll get everything in order. Admiral, I need you to transfer them from the Detroit to my command then." Anderson said.

"It'll happen." Hackett said as he stood up and began walking out of the office, Anderson following close behind.

The ambassador stayed behind and sighed "I'll make the call..."

Present

Anderson's contemplation of the past was broken as he heard his omni-tool pinging. He answered it and was greeted by one of the officers "Captain. The LTC and the Commander have arrived."

"Send them in." Anderson ordered and saw as the officer nodded and closed the connection.

It took a few minutes before he heard as the door to the room he was in opened. As it did, he saw the two soldiers stepping inside as guards stayed outside "Lieutenant-Commander," Anderson nodded at Jane before looking at John and doing the same "Commander."

"If I may ask sir. Why did you want us transferred out of Detroit?" Jane asked.

Anderson sighed before responding "We have received a new mission that I needed the two of you for." He opened up a holo-display and turned on his omni-tool to input a few commands. The display cycled through to an image of a planet both of them recognized immediately. Eden Prime. One of the first human colonies. "We have gotten orders to head to Eden Prime for a shakedown run..."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait..." John interrupted Anderson "You transferred us so you could put us on a shakedown run?"

"I know you probably hate that I did that. But I needed the best soldiers I know for this," Anderson put in a few more commands as the display switched from the image of Eden Prime to one neither John or Jane recognized. It was a frigate ship. Although they wanted to show their discontent for being placed on a frigate, they had to admit they had never seen anything like this one. Its design looked just like a frigate, but John could also note some major differences in standard human design. "This is the SSV Normandy. First of its kind."

"How is it a first of its kind?" Jane asked.

"This ship isn't an only Alliance frigate, or a human-quarian design. It was co-developed by the Alliance and the Turian Hierarchy."

"Not the quarians as well?" John asked.

"Hierarchy wouldn't budge in helping with it unless we excluded them completely. They don't know the ship exists yet." Anderson explained.

"Okay... that's cool and all. But how exactly do we factor into you... testing out this ship?" Jane asked as she signaled towards the Normandy's holo-display.

"Because I trust the two of you with this far more than I would anyone else. Besides, we expect that at one point or another someone may try to do something that will end in a firefight."

"God knows we always end up in one." John muttered.

"And it would do you two good to get situated with the ship if it doesn't go wrong."

Despite how much both John and Jane wanted to object to this. To tell Anderson they wanted nothing to do with a shakedown run, they knew that even if the did, it would do no good for them. Instead, they decided to agree to being placed on the Normandy.

They were briefed on the mission and how simple it should be for their first run, nothing they hadn't seen before when they were Corporals, but still boring.

Once the briefing had ended, both of them tried leaving the room before Anderson stopped John "Commander?" He stopped and looked back at Anderson "May I have a word with you?"

John looked at Jane and signaled her to go on as he stepped back towards the captain "Something you need Anderson?"

"We also have someone in the crew who I believe you are already situated with." Anderson opened his comm and gave out an order for the guards to send someone in. Both of them waited for a few minutes before the door behind John cycled open, and in stepped another person whom John could immediately recognize.

"Shepard." He said as he nodded towards John and tilted his head to look at Anderson "Captain."

"Kaidan!" John exclaimed as he extended his hand for Kaidan to take as they greeted each other with a handshake "Good to see you again." John said as he released his grip.

"Good to see you too Shepard. Been a while since I've seen you in person." Kaidan looked over John's form and could see just how many bruises and scars he had obtained from when they had first met "Looks like you got the worst end of any stick I've seen."

John rubbed the back of his neck "Yeah. Let's just say that shore leave and missions never like me."

"I can tell." Kaidan said as he looked over towards Anderson "You briefed him on the mission captain?"

"Already done Alenko. Just need to get them both situated with the ship before we leave." Anderson responded.

"When are we leaving anyways?" John asked.

"Tomorrow. First sign of daylight." Anderson responded.

With that, John nodded as he was dismissed by Anderson. Both John and Kaidan talked with each other for some time, catching up with the past 8 years since they had seen each other. Eventually they parted ways as John made his way towards the location Anderson had sent him to explore the ship he would be leaving Earth in. And although he would indeed miss the Detroit, he was hoping that maybe he would be able to see the outside of the Sol System a bit more now.

Once he finally made it to the Alliance docks, he could see several docked frigates and slightly grinned at the sight. The frigates compared to what he was about to see, were just simple Alliance designed frigates that had nothing special about them. Sure there were a few that quarians had helped with, but those were in the minority. And now he would be in the first of a kind.

As he got close to the coordinates, the ship got into view. As he got a view of the ship, his jaw slightly dropped at the sight. A holo-display did it no justice. It was grand in its design. Bigger than most frigates he had ever seen. Its hull was painted with black, white, and red colors. The insignia of its name imprinted on the side, just above a red stripe that went from the 'M' towards the ships tail. Below it, on the wing lay another classification 'SR1'.

He must have been staring at the ship for several minutes before someone spoke next to him "What? My engineering savvy brother has no words for this?" John was broken from his thoughts at the sudden interruption from Jane laughing at her brother's expression.

"It's just..." John trailed off as he explored the outside of the ship "I've never seen anything like this."

"To me? Just another ship. Don't really see much that is different honestly." Jane said.

John grinned at Jane's cluelessness of just what made this ship so special and looked at its name once more "I wonder what Tali would say about it..." He said in a low voice.

Jane however, caught what he had just said and chuckled "Well, if you became so entranced by it, I'm sure that Tali would be having a fit the second she saw it."

John began laughing as well "She'd be bouncing on her toes from just seeing the outside."

"Sounds very much like our favorite quarian." Jane agreed.

They stood in silence contemplating the outside of the ship. Although it took some time, John eventually realized they were spending more time outside than inside, which was where they would be for some time. He reminded her of it and both went through the docking cradle towards the ship's airlock. Once they were inside they waited for the decontamination cycle to end. Which took what felt like hours to them.

Once it did end however, both of them stepped inside and realized quickly that the inside was definitely... not completely human. They could see the galaxy map on the CIC to their right filled with terminals and several crewmembers working in them.

"Ah, we got the fresh cattle in here." A voice came from behind them.

Looking behind them, they saw a person sitting in the bridge's chair. They tried to speak but were beaten by him "Before you ask. I'm Jeff, although you can just call me Joker. And I'm your pilot. I suppose you're the Shepard's?"

"Well. Yeah." John answered.

"Good to meet you then." Joker looked towards the window on his side "Ah, and there's the captain."

Each of them heard as the Normandy's airlock cycled open and Anderson stepped in as he nodded towards the Shepard's "I take it you've already met Joker."

John looked behind him to see Joker looking at them "Yeah. Charming pilot you got here."

"Too bad I can't kick his ass out." Anderson responded just barely smiling.

"Well you'd just be picking up my bones then. And carrying me to the hospital." Joker responded.

"Wait. Bones? Why?" John asked.

"He can explain later. For now I'm sure you'd like to see the rest of the ship." Anderson said.

Both of them nodded. They walked through the somewhat spacious corridors, getting to see the CIC and galaxy map elevated at the center. John noted that it was a weird design choice, but he also knew that turians helped develop the ship, and that they had different ways of communication throughout their ships. Eventually they headed downwards towards the mess hall and were told of their new sleeping pods and the infirmary.

Both John and Jane jumped when they saw who was there, Doctor Karin Chakwas. A friend of their mother whom they didn't get to see to often, but now they would be working alongside her. After a quick exchange of hugs - and Chakwas reminding them she had her eye on them if they tried to voluntarily get hurt - they headed down once more through the elevator to the cargo hold.

The cargo hold was spacious, but what interested them was that the ship had a Mako inside it. John had already tried to drive one, and so had Jane. But unfortunately they had managed to lose their chances of driving after John flipped it by jumping off a hill, and Jane drove it into a lake by ramming an enemy.

Hiding their grins, Anderson showed them through the hold showing them where their equipment was, before directing them to the place they had to see. The engineering deck.

While Jane was a bit confused at what she was seeing in the engineering room, John was absolutely amazed. He had already seen the drive core on the Einstein thanks to Tali, and the one on the Detroit. But this was on a whole new level. The thing was huge and unlike anything he had ever seen before.

John was so entranced with what he was seeing that he hadn't even heard Anderson telling them that he would leave them be and walk off back to the elevator, but he was broken out of his trance by taps on his shoulder.

"Well. Now this is something Tali would jump out of her suit for." Jane said almost chuckling.

John stood silent as Jane patted him on the shoulder and left to eat. He stayed contemplating the drive core and smiling a bit "Yeah... she'd love this." he muttered as he left the engineering room to rest before their mission began.

A new day was shining on the Normandy, and Jane had woken up before John had. She decided to go about, meeting the people she got very little time to know before Anderson scooped her up to show her the ship.

She met with several people on the mess hall as she ate, and met Navigator Pressly on the CIC. She was apparently recognized by him for Elysium as he had been on the Agincourt during the attack. She liked finally being recognized for something other than Torfan, but knew that many of the crew did know about it from the glances they threw at her.

It would only be an hour until the Normandy lifted off and flew towards the Charon Mass Relay, and from there to Eden Prime.

Jane decided that it would be a good idea to check if John had finally woken up, but as she walked towards the sleeping pods, she stumbled onto Kaidan, who had been walking towards the stairs and was rewarded with Jane accidentally pushing him on the ground.

"Shit. Sorry." Jane apologized as Kaidan got back up.

"It's no problem, really." He said as he looked back towards her "Hey, I'm pretty sure I've seen you somewhere."

"You might have umm... heard about..." Jane trailed off as she tried to formulate what to say. She really didn't want to acknowledge Torfan, but maybe it would help him recognize her, but before she could talk Kaidan answered his own question.

"Oh, I've seen you from Torfan!" Kaidan said "So you're the Commander's sister?"

"Yeah." She reluctantly agreed.

"Well shit, it's nice to finally meet you. I remember Shepard mentioning you quite a bit when he was my student a few years back." Kaidan chuckled before adding "He hasn't caused a hull breach yet has he?"

"No, nothing of the sort just yet." Jane smirked before adding "Also you may want to find what to call us other than Shepard. Every time it happens and we are both in the same place we get confused."

"I'll keep that in mind." Kaidan nodded.

They heard as one of the sleeper pods opened and watched as John came out of it dazed and holding his head.

He walked over to the cabinets and found himself an MRE before noticing the two people watching him "Something wrong?"

"Nah. But how come you never introduced me to your sister?" Kaidan asked.

"Couldn't risk it."

"Risk what?" Jane asked.

"Hmm? Oh nothing." He said as he opened his MRE and sat down to eat.

"Well still, not really nice that my first meeting with her is me crashing into her and falling on the ground." Kaidan said which caused John to laugh.

"Well, why would I miss an opportunity to increase those migraines you get? Might help you realize using your brain is important."

"It'll make me want to throw you from the ship."

"I'll bet."

"Shepard" Anderson's voice came from behind them which caused both John and Jane to answer "Yes?"

"Dammit with your last name." Anderson muttered as he put a hand on his face "The both of you are here though so it'll make it easier for me to introduce you to him."

"Introduce us to who?" Jane asked.

Her question was answered as from behind Anderson came someone none of them had seen when they had first entered. Not even a human, but a turian "This is Nihlus Kryik. A council spectre."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa wait. A spectre? What's a spectre doing here?" She asked as she looked from Anderson to Nihlus.

"He'll be coming with us on our shakedown run. Hopefully you'll get well situated with him before we reach Eden Prime. We're leaving in 10. So make sure you're completely ready." Anderson said as he walked off, leaving the three humans looking at the lone turian.

Nihlus spoke towards them "Commander." He nodded towards John before turning towards Jane "Lieutenant-Commander. You already know who I am and I know who you are, so introductions are not needed." He clasped his hands behind his back "I'm sure you've already been informed on our mission as well?"

"Yeah. But, you're a spectre. So why are you here." Jane asked.

"I'm afraid that is classified. Just know I will be here for this mission, and probably a few others. I'm not interested in knowing if my presence makes you uncomfortable. But your captain already agreed to my presence. I'll leave you be." He said as he began walking away from them, leaving each of them confused on what had just happened.

John really wasn't in the mood for figuring this out, not when he had just woken up.

But Jane knew this was off. The council certainly wouldn't send a spectre on a shakedown run, no matter if the ship was co-developed by the turians.

The ship soon began to lift off from Earth, and everyone saw as it left for whoever knew how long and went into space. The ship soon went into FTL speeds, heading towards the mass relay and they would arrive in three hours.

While everyone else waited, Jane walked over to the CIC to see the turian talking with Anderson and narrowed her eyes. There was definitely more to this, and she knew it.

Whatever Nihlus's presence on the Normandy meant. There was only one thing that was clear.

This mission had just gotten much more interesting.
