The Dark Ocean of My Mind by Melinda Cadarette

The Dark Ocean of My Mind by Melinda Cadarette

In my mind I see it before me

The waves of the Dark Ocean

I look down in the misty waters

And I feel the darkness in me grow

I see in the waters

A face like mine, but dark

My anger and my pain

Turn into a form, me

I stretched out my hand to it

Yet I do not feel wetness

I go closer and closer

I feel the rising darkness

I hate my father, so cold

I hate my mother, so numb

A lost child I have become

I go closer and closer

But I hear my sister calling

She is my light through my darkness

I look up and I see her face

I listen to her and nod

So I turned back and walked on

The dark waves I hear no more

The voice of my sister said

To go to the light, my home

And now I am back home

To think how close I was

To be in the darkness

That my mind can create

But I am safe right now

The hour of darkness is gone

For I prevailed over it

The Dark Ocean of my mind.
