Charlie gazed at the woman in front of him and wondered when he started to feel something more than friendship for her.

He knew that it wasn't until after his best friend and Sue's husband, Harry Clearwater, had died.

The one thing he'd never do is betray a friend, and even though he felt a twinge of guilt, Charlie hoped that Harry would be happy for them.

"Are you okay, Charlie?" Sue asked, sounding concerned.

"I'm fine. I was just thinking about Harry," he admitted.

Sue was silent before saying, "I miss him and a part of me always will, but I'm happy with you. I'm sure he's looking down with our ancestors and is glad that we've found happiness with each other. He wouldn't deny us that."

"I miss him too. He was the best of us, and I'm sure you're right. He would want you to be happy even if it is with me."

Sue took his hand in hers and squeezed it gently.

The two of them had known each other for a long time, and Charlie didn't expect that he would ever replace Harry - nor would he want to - and Sue knew that. It was one of the things that made their relationship so easy.
