[Preparing Warp Conduit…]

Drum rocked his baby brother in his arms, eyes threatening for Drum to either call it a night, or to call sleep deprivation. He had just returned from his stay at earth, the once Omni Lord who had managed to help Gao defeat the threat that was Yamigedo was helping to look after his brothers late into the night as his father had been called on for unknown reasons.

He slowly lowered his brother down beside the rest of his siblings and yawned, the fatigue of the night creeping up on his as he dragged himself outside and lay on the grass. The green blades collected dew as the cool night air blowed around Drum, his memories of sitting inside the Mikado Dojo stealing all the Takoyaki from Gao bubbled up from his unconscious. The door wide open as wind blew into the place to help cool it down while he would sit down with his arm outstretched in an attempt to keep his distance from Axia. His attempts at holding him back while eating the Takoyaki often resulted in him being smothered by the blue dragowizard with the sauce decorated onto his cape.

The edges of his lips creeped up, the steady stream of memories pushing them upwards as his eyelids finally got their wish. His mind staying in its flow of euphoric memories while the faint sound of soft footsteps on grass were unregistered by his mind.

"Got you," Drum's eyes were open by just a hairline as a human fingers extended themselves over his head and glowed a blood red to shut his eyes for the night. The image of an indigo eye watching over him persisting within his head while the stream of memories swept him into the land of dreams.

"And that's all for ancient glyphs, only aisles 6I and 9T left…"

Axia waved his hand to place the book back into position, pushing it back into the empty slot of the bookshelf while pulling another one out of the bookshelf right across. The dry-aged pages flipping open to reveal the magic world equivalent of textbooks, outdated, incorrect, and near illegible information that could barely be used. Despite this, Axia found them incredibly useful for ancient types of magic used in the past that seemed to be lost in the present.

His reading session was interrupted by the sound of footsteps heading towards him. Lowering the books onto a table, Axia turned to face the person walking towards him.

The individual had a black cloak around them, the only visible parts of their body being the open-finger gloves and jade bracelets on their hands. Axia's hands lay by his side as his fingers subtlety tapped on each other while the individual lowered the hood of their cloak.

"Hello Qinus Axia, may I talk with you for a moment?"

"Of course, may I ask who you are?"

"My name is Meph, I have news about your friend. Drum Bunker Dragon Fang Slade Terrestrial XIV."

Axia's interest perked, but he hid it inside as he fingers stood still. Meph walked closer towards him as Axia prepared himself, the floor and walls of the library glowing as the protection spell he cast had activated.

"Whatever you do, it won't work. I already cast a protection sp-"

Axia's throat seized up, his vocal cords unable to budge as he could only breath silently while Meph's eyes changed from a dark brown into a dark blood red.

"No, that little parlor trick won't do," Meph replied. Axia was lifted further into the air, unable to make any signal for help in the silent library as Meph's head tilted slightly.

"Hey Bloody Mary," another voice shouted.

Meph turned to the voice and was pushed back onto a bookshelf, breaking the wooden structure and causing numerous books to fall over them. The glow on the walls surrounding the books on Meph and glowing Indigo as another person walked up to Axia who was still stuck in the air.

"Dang it, I should have said 'Goodbye red dye'. This is what I get for being in 20th century for too long…" she said.

A girl wearing a black and white striped shirt and black leggings, a mauve coat with purple symbols written around the it draped over her as her dark brown curls spilled over the back. Her right hand was stretched out at the pile of books on Meph as its purple glow only shone brighter. She turned towards Axia and saw him hanging in the air, trying to cast some spells only to have all of them neutralised.

"Oh, right, that." She said as she held her right hand towards Axia, the writings along the cuffs of her left sleeve glowing for a brief moment before Axia was dropped onto the ground. He looked back up and tried to cast a spell in panic, only to find that his magic was still neutralised.

"Your spells won't work right now. I've set the place to be under my protection spell, yours was broken by this blood bag. Oh, and my name is Dolor."

Axia could not respond as the pile of books began to fizzle, paper gaining the consistency of baby food as it bubbled from a red glow encasing them.

"Ah, that's not good."

Meph stood up from the pile of dissolved paper, their eyes now glowing a bright red as small red spheres no larger than a marble formed in their hands.

"Oh we're -f"

Meph threw their hand towards Dolor who countered by moving both of her hands at them. A blast was created by their immediate pulse as both Meph and Dolor were thrown back onto a wall. Axia was surrounded by violet crystals that had protected him from the blast as Dolor and Meph could be seen, magnified through the crystal.

"Ya know, you could just tell me what you're up to and get to the end quicker…"

"I'll talk when you're late, or when you're early to go."

"…A no then," Dolor acknowledged as she levitated the books around her and tore the pages out, folding them into paper knives and shooting them at Meph. Meph teleported the book covers to be in front of them and broke off the steel corner protectors of some books to create a steel grill that caught the knives in the covers.

One of the knives slipped past the book covers and folded itself into the shape of a cicada, attaching itself onto the bookshelves around Meph and pulsing Dolor's signature indigo magic. Meph's hands began to vibrate with the pulses and caused the protective book covers to falter as the paper knives slipped through them. Each one creating a new cicada that attached to a different part of the library and pulsed in tune with each other.

Meph groaned as the pulses not only began to interrupt their magic, but a splitting headache reverberated throughout their head. The pain amplifying as it resonated with the cicada pulses. Dolor stopped the barrage of paper knives and instead, formed some paper lotus flowers which floated around Meph.

"Stop…"

"Well I'm sorry, but you started it."

"I said stop," Meph shakily repeated. Their hands were shaking as they clenched the sides of their head, the pulses becoming too much for them to withstand.

"Welp, now's probably the time to get out of here Axia. They looks like they might implode at any second."

Dolor grew some more crystals around Meph, creating a crystal structure that surrounded them in hopes of reducing the damage done by Meph's uncontrolled blast. Axia looked around and found one of the books that he had picked up. Grabbing the book, he quickly flipped through the pages as the indigo around him left to be focused onto the growing crystals which encased Meph to display an indigo pulsing that was slowly shifting to a reddish hue.

"I. Said. STOP!" Meph shouted.

The pulsating accelerated to a near constant whine, cracks formed on the crystals which attempted to form more crystals where the cracks had formed. Axia then grabbed his staff and directed it towards the crystals, a green energy shot from it as the crystal structure and everyone inside it was transported into some distant location. Dolor put her hands down and looked at Axia in awe, amazed at being able to end the fight with a single attack.

"Whoa, how did you do that?"

"Oh, I just found a spell that transports monsters into different world through their cards."

"Wait, cards? But Meph doesn't have a card, not to mention the fact that you just transported an Arx Being without any consequences or cost."

Axia shrugged his shoulders while Dolor broke off any remaining crystals and absorbed them back into her body.

"Well that spell definitely did something, its just odd that all it seemingly worked…" Dolor pondered as Axia placed the book back onto the desk.

"Axia?" A familiar voice questioned. Axia immediately turned towards the voice and away from Dolor to see the person he hope to have heard. Drum stood in front of him, wearing his magic world outfit which was just as Axia had remembered him.

Exactly as he remembered him, almost unnervingly similar to the image of Drum that Axia had been remembering him by.

That's not him.

Drum walked towards Axia and tried to hug him, but a hexagonal portal opened up below Axia before him or Dolor could do anything about it. The sides were perfectly straight and illuminated the room while the inside was nothing but a glowing sea of crimson and blood red fluids mixing and swirling around like watercolours. As he fell into the sea, he saw a single monster floating around. The shape and colouration being enough for Axia to immediately recognise as an indigo eye hovered above him, looking at Axia as he plunged down into the strange fluid.

Drum?
