River woke up in his four poster bed for the last time. He realized this as he sat up and put his glasses on. He slid out of his bed and got changed into his muggle clothes, dark jeans and a light green t-shirt. River sighed, and picked up his trunk and owl cage. He turned around and gazed at the cozy dormitory. He set his things down, pulled his wand out and conjured a note that said, You can do it. You can get though anything. He tucked it under the pillow and picked up his things again. He left the common room and boarded the Hogwarts Express with everyone else. He was the last one to get on, and found Talbott, Penny and Chiara together in a compartment talking and laughing. River smiled and sat down with them. "So," He said as he settled down beside and Penny and held her hand, "What're you lot going to do now?" They all stopped talking, but never stopped smiling. Talbott was the first to speak up. "I'm probably going into the ministry. Tonks has the right idea, becoming an Auror." River nodded. "That sounds nice. Some quiet time after seven years of shenanigans." Chiara smirked. "Mostly caused by you, River." River laughed. "What about you, Chiara?" he asked. "What are going to do?" Chiara sighed. "I've been planning it for years, so you already know. I'm going to work in St. Mungo's. Help the people who really need it." River nodded. "I'm going to try and set up a shop in Diagon Ally. Make potions for sale." River smirked and turned to Penny. "Of course, the marvelous Penny Haywood starts a successful business in Potions." Everyone laughed and Talbott inquired, "What about you, River?" River sighed softly and thought about it. "I… dunno. I haven't got anything planned out." All three of them looked at River with expression of shock, concern and worry. "You do know that the classes you took for the past four years will end up affecting what you can do, right?" River grinned and started laughing. "I got you lot good!" Everyone groaned and Chiara threw a chocolate frog at him. "No, I'm going into professional Curse-Breaking. I've had more experience then most people, so I figure I have a pretty good shot." Penny rolled her eyes in a joking way, "I don't think that surprises anyone." River shrugged and said, "Maybe." The rest of the trip was spent discussing the excitement of the future, over a game of Exploding Snap. When the train pulled into the station, River sighed and said, "I'm going to miss living with you guys. Let's all keep in tough, alright?" They all agreed and took their trunks off the train. They all hugged eachother, and set off through the magic barrier that lead to the muggle world, but this time, they could use whatever spell they desired.
Thank you all so much for reading this! It really means a lot to me and I have spent a lot of time on River's story. I actually didn't know that there was already a Nott family in the wizarding world, I just thought River Knotts had a nice ring to it. I am working on two different sequels for River's life. One during the war, and one after the war. They'll be dropping soon!
