Schreave Palace. Sacramento, Province of Angeles. 20 years after Tamara Schreave took the throne.

Princess Pauline Schreave was lounging around in her room when she heard a knock on the door. She had spent the last hour and a half amusing herself by reading a couple books that she'd had bought for her by her ladies maid. They were books about cruise ships. For as long as she could remember, Pauline had always wanted to go on an actual sea cruise. Her parents, however, had always had a reason to shoot that idea down. Either they were too busy or it wasn't safe or mom didn't want to get seasick on an ocean liner. Her parents always came up with some bullshit excuse. Nevertheless, Pauline always loved planning in her mind what would be her perfect cruise. Those thoughts always put a smile on her face when she was upset.

Pauline went to answer the door and found her brother: Crown Prince Gregory Schreave, standing there.

"You can tell them that the answer is still no." Pauline said with a annoyed glare.

"You don't even know why I'm here sister." Gregory replied with a chuckle.

"Mom and Dad sent you here to convince to have a selection, do you deny it?" She asked.

"I could, but then I'd be a liar." He conceded.

"Like I said, the answer is still…no!" The princess exclaimed as she tried to shut the door, only for Gregory to force it open.

"Come on Pauline, it is a royal tradition since the time of Illèa's first king." Her brother insisted as he followed her inside. "Every royal must have a selection to find their spouse. This country needs their traditions."

"It's outdated!" His sister shot back.

"You should be thankful, sister." Gregory snapped. "Before Princess Eadlyn, female royals did not get selections, their marriages were arranged."

"So is the selection, I have to choose one guy to marry!" Pauline shot back angrily.

"It isn't as bad as you are making it sound." Gregory groaned as he tried to keep calm. "I had a selection and it turned out fine."

"You married a g irl that you don't like." Pauline accused.

"I like Madison just fine." Gregory insisted.

"But you don't love her, you loved Kennabec." Pauline pointed out; she knew that it was a soft spot for her brother. The maid that he had given up to marry the girl who was Queen material.

"I had a duty to the country, I am the heir." The Crown Prince pointed out in return. "That is all the more reason that you should do the selection. When Madison and I have children, you will most likely never sit in the throne. You have more freedom than I do. You can marry for love!"

"You know that I want to…but what if they don't?"

"Who?"

"The guys who apply for my selection." Pauline clarified. "How do I know whether they want me or the title that comes with me." Gregory pondered the matter for a few minutes until he came up with nothing more and nothing less than a genius idea.

"I think I have an idea on how to do the selection your way." He said with a gleam and a smirk.

Later that day.

Queen Tamara and King Consort Justin were in her office, looking over some new proposals from the Queen's Congress when a servant announced that Princess Pauline wanted to speak with them. Pauline walked into the office as her parents looked up at her with awkwardness.

"Honey…have you decided about your selection yet? Because it is going to happen." Tamara asked as Pauline took a deep breath.

"I have conditions." Pauline stated for the record.

"Give them voice and see them considered." Justin replied as her parents gave their daughter their attention.

"First, I want my selection to be on a cruise going around the country."

"I'm honestly not surprised." Tamara responded with an eye roll.

"And second, I'm going to disguise myself." Pauline declared as bother of her parents were shocked.

"You can't be serious?" Justin asked in shock.

"It was Gregory's idea." She shrugged. "I will disguise myself and claim that I am the Princess's best friend. That way, I can get to know who the selected really are. Once I trust them enough, I will reveal myself."

"Honey, this is a terrible idea!" Justin insisted as Tamara paused her husband.

"If we agree to this, you will do the selection and take it seriously?" The Queen asked.

"Yes." Pauline answered.

"Then we accept." Tamara said as she silenced her husband with a kiss before he could protest further.

"God, at least wait until I'm out of the room!" Pauline declared as she stormed out in disgust.
