Alchemists and Jesus
The alchemists of long ago
Thought they could turn metal into gold.
They gathered things that had no worth
And hoped and prayed that their theory would work.
But it didn't work, for as tis known,
You can't turn metal into gold.
Or can you? Some may beg to differ,
But just hear me out before you get in a tither.
You and I are just like junk,
Crummy, useless, our future was sunk
Until that day at Calvary,
When Jesus died for you and me.
He took our worthless lives and sins
And put them throught fire like the alchemist's tin.
But unlike tin, when our lives came out
There was drastic change without a doubt.
When we ask Jesus into our hearts
There is a change that the devil can't thwart.
He takes our filthy, sinful souls
And turns them into sould of gold.
So the alchemists had a good thought,
But only Jesus, our sins He bought,
Can take something worthless and put in a mold,
Pass it through the fire and have it come out gold.
End
