Prologue
As the sun began to rise upon the darkened Arizona skyline, Beaufort "Beau" Swan shifted awkwardly on the front driveway with his hands stuffed into the pockets of his dark washed jeans. He had on one of his button-up long sleeve pattern shirts with a leather jacket draped over his shirt. The pattern was of mini pineapples and his twin sister, Bella, had insisted on him buying it the last time they had been to the outlet stores in downtown Phoenix. His eyes were a brilliant sapphire hue, and his features were more feminine and softer than masculine, his figure was tall and thin also. All angles and bones, as though he were a sparrow. His hair was a mess on his head, a mess of dark stunning wildness.
Speaking of Bella, she hurriedly came out of the front door of their one story, ranch style house, dressed in lounge clothes that were borderline pajamas. She had her own dark hair piled high on a bun that was haphazard. She had the car keys in her hands and rushed over to where Beau was before she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly, tears rising in her tear ducts. She was never someone who was emotional but at the moment she was obviously showing how upset she was at the fact that her twin brother was moving.
"Renee is asleep right now. I thought it would be better if I take you to the airport instead of her," Bella remarked, once she pulled away from him. Her chocolate irises showed no way she would back out of this, when she had something appear in her mind, she wanted to do chances were she would follow through with it.
Beau got into the front passenger seat while Bella went to the front driver's seat and climbed in. She buckled herself in, while his duffle bag was in the back seats of the van. She pulled out of the driveway and went through the winding neighborhood, where some of the outside lights were still on and would turn off when the sunlight properly came over the mountains of Phoenix that were not that far out of their neighborhood.
The entire time it took for them to go through the downtown of the city, there was music that was drifting from the radio. The console was lit up in a cool shade of blue and the headlights were on, sending out pools of golden light in front of them so they could go through properly and be able to move out of the way if there were any carcasses of wild animals that had been killed. Beau was leaning his head against the inside of his car window; the coolness was keeping him awake.
When they arrived at the airport Bella turned to look at her brother. There were some things that were the same for each of them, since they were fraternal twins, but since they weren't identical there were still things about them that were completely their own. Bella with her brown eyes and Beau with his blue eyes. Bella had more red highlights in her hair while Beau had just plain dark hair–he had inherited Renee's blue eyes and Bella had inherited their dad, Charlie's eyes.
"Are you sure you don't want to come up later? Renee would be fine at assisted living," Beau remarked, only for Bella to flinch at the thought of their drug addict mother actually being alone in an assisted living facility. She wanted to be here and take care of Renee to let her know that everything was going to be okay.
"I can't. She's getting better, if we both left then I don't want to imagine what would happen," Bella confessed, not having to add to the conversation for them to know she meant Renee would probably throw herself more into the drugs and quite possibly overdose.
All of this was thanks to Phil Dwyer.
They thought he was a good guy, but he had waited until after Renee had gotten married to him for him to introduce her to the world of drugs. He wasn't a drug addict, instead he was a dealer and had somehow guilted Renee into trying drugs.
She had done so and soon fell into a spiral; Phil had been murdered not that long ago because he was going into the territory of another dealer. He left behind a broken-down widow that was more interested in getting her next hit than taking care of her twins. It was a good thing that Beau and Bella were both seventeen and weren't children, otherwise things would have been even worse.
"Tell Charlie I said hi."
Beau nodded his head as he grabbed his duffle bag from the backseats of the van and hugged his twin goodbye. Bella got back into the van and drove away, while Beau took a deep breath and turned around to look at the automatic sliding doors to the airport. Soon he would be on a flight that would take him away from Phoenix. Soon he would be in the presence of his dad, Charlie Swan. He only hoped he was doing the right thing by leaving to be with him.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I have been reading some Beau x Edward fanfictions and I can't get enough of them. I have not read 'Life & Death', but I know that he has blue eyes. I also want to mention a few things: Alice is Archie (her male counterpart) and is with Jasper, so Edward and Beau won't be the only gay couple in the Cullen clan. There will be an attempted sexual assault against Beau in the school locker room by Mike along with Tyler, where they try to have him perform oral sex for them. If there are other things that come up, I will put a warning up on the top of the chapter for you. And of course, mentions of drug abuse when it comes to Renee.
I will be posting the fanfiction officially when I am done with 'Handle with Care' and 'Petit Papillon'. There will be mention of not that much description smut, so it's not all 'in your face' because I think that stories need to be more than about sex and I'm not someone who likes to write very descriptive sex.
as always: Twilight doesn't belong to me
