Gordon knew how badly he had fucked up and that getting Hannah to forgive him would take some time (he dreaded the possibility but accepted the reality that she would also never forgive him). She was amazing and perfect and God help him, funny. She had turned out pretty well and although he had a hand in creating her, it'd haunt him until his dying day that he had basically no part in raising her. He had lived with that regret for a long time and it wasn't going away any time soon. Working out their problems through the show probably wasn't the best idea but whatever, it seemed to be helping (at least a little). And he shouldn't enjoy Hannah going off on him about the latest problem but he liked being able to calm her down and/or comfort her and fix the issue. Hannah waved the script around. "Are you even listening to me?"

"I was, yes, but I think everybody and their mother heard you," he pointed out.

She glared at him. "Fuck off," she snarled.

"You say the sweetest things," he snarked right back at Hannah, smirking at her.

"Don't you smile at me!" Hannah glared then turned around and stormed off somewhere to cool down.

"She'll be back." Gordon was confident she'd storm back in any minute now to scream at him some more.

"Are you sure about that?" Clay shot back.

"Do me a favor and shut the fuck up. Go back to rehearsing," Gordon snapped as he headed back to his own office. He wasn't surprised to find Hannah sitting in his desk chair. "Hello, lovely. Did you break and enter?"

"You are so fucking infuriating! No wonder my mother supposedly hated you!"

"So I've been told." He let the insult roll off his back even though it stung more than he'd ever admit.

Frustrated, Hannah could only sigh. "Can you be serious for once in your life?"

"Not likely."

"Gordon!"

He put his hands up in an effort to placate her. "Sorry. You're right. What's your problem with me today, and have you discussed it with your therapist?" He wondered if said therapist was even helping his daughter. Maybe he should suggest she get a new one? That probably wouldn't go over well, however.

"Funny. Why do you insist on rewrites, Gordon?"

"Ah, the pot calling the kettle black. They seem to work out most of the time, don't they?" he pointed out.

"Gordon, I swear to God!" If looks could kill, he definitely would have been dead months ago.

"Hannah, calm down - we'll figure it out. We always do, don't we? Your old man's not completely incompetent."

She smiled and then scowled. "First off, don't tell me to calm down." She fell silent for a few minutes before taking a deep breath and plowing ahead with what she wanted to tell him. "Can I meet them?"

"Meet who?" asked a confused Gordon.

Hannah rolled her eyes. "I want to meet your family again now that I'm an adult. I promise I won't be a raging bitch to my stepbrother and resent him. Much. Okay, more than I already do. He better not still be a creepy fuck now. But can I?"

Gordon was caught so off guard he did a double take and bit down on the joke that wanted out, knowing it was the absolute worst time for it. "Of course you can meet them again. They want to get to know you too, you know?"

She looked so vulnerable it broke his heart (again). "They do?"

"They do," he promised her. "We'll figure out dinner after the show tonight, how does that sound? I'll come home and see how our schedules line up."

Hannah beamed before schooling her face into a serious expression. "Sounds fine. Not at all terrifying."

"Good to know." He wasn't about to let her know that he was scared shitless too - this was a major step and one none of them could fuck up or else Hannah would go back into her shell. Or at least tell him to fuck off more than she already did. It was a toss up.

"Great. Let me go see how insane our actors are this week." She winked at him and then took off.

Stunned, Gordon could only collapse in his chair, a smile lighting up his face. He sent off a quick text to his wife and got an excited reply in return, promising to figure something out with their son and her ex-husband. His hands shook so much he needed to take a few minutes to calm down, stunned from tonight's progress. They were getting there little by little and it was absolutely fucking surreal.

None of this was going to be easy - not that it ever had been to start with - but Gordon and Hannah's relationship was steadily getting better. There were some setbacks of course, but that was to be expected. Gordon wanted her to be a part of his family but it was up to Hannah. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt her again. So he put aside his existential angst for the time being because they had a show to run. Dinner could wait - at least for a few more hours (maybe days but he didn't want to push it).
