Chapter 2

By the next morning Sesshmaru had all that he needed to know about Rin. Since she gave him her first name and address the rest was a breeze.

Her family died in a home invasion when she was 8, after that she stopped other relatives on either the mother or fathers side. She always had good grades. Never in trouble. Address. Etc. All in all she was a normal human girl. Or maybe she used to be. She didn't or couldn't talk , orphaned, old clothes, was probably hungry, she was light in his grasp and no cellphone.

But that smile.

He must confess he didn't know what to expect when she came off the path. The fight with his brother didn't go as planned, he went berserk and almost tore my left arm off. He happened upon the area afterwards, he lost too much energy and needed a safe place to rest. And someone of his status, well let's say being powerless at the time would have been a winning ticket for anyone.

So he tried to scare her but it seemed like she didnt care and sat down.

But that smile.

It's what brought him back the next day but decided to stay discreet. And sure enough she came through the brush off the trail, her shoulders slump a bit but she proceeded to lounge for some time. Reading a book about flowers or homework.

And I stayed and kept watch.

I don't know why I was so…interested. Maybe because no one ever smiled at me like that in my entire life. A real one, not fake. He figured by the first encounter that she didn't know who he was. The girls tended to fawn over him. He was the heir to the west after all. The only domain that demons still fully controlled after all these years. The minutes ticked by and I guess it was time for her to go. He hurried to his car and watched her slip between two buildings. He would round the block and wait for her on the other side.

But when she took too long to come out he got out to see if maybe she went inside a side door or something. The sheer sight of that filthy human with his hands gripping her hair had his blood boiling. The poison in my body was already overflowing from my hand seeking blood.

But after all was said and done he got her feed and home safely which much to his delight pleased him that she let him take care of her. She wouldn't be that light under his care anymore.

That had his thoughts coming to a screeching halt. Yes he decided it, he wanted to know more about Rin. And his nose detected that she wanted the same.

He was taking one or 2 college classes; he took most of them in high school so he really had time to spare. Today he will be buying a cellphone for her and giving it to her later in the field.

So in the meantime he would busy himself with some…research.

Rin was bright and happy the following morning. She got to finally see Sesshomaru again even though it was under those circumstances. She was going to try her hardest to get her voice together so she got up early enough to take some hot tea. No sugar to use of course, and get those pipes working. She wondered when and where she would meet Sesshomaru again. Seeing as he was the one to say he would see her "tomorrow". Once she was finished she was out the door. There was no black car outside. He probably meant later in the field.

And she was off to school.

Even though it was early, last night, it scared Rin enough for no more shortcuts. She passed a little flower shop. She loved it. It was cozy, cute and pink. Something that she would love to own one day. But that was impossible, she was already behind in life in the financial department. But the shop brightened her day on the way to school.

The day was going great because she didn't see the mean 3rd year girls so far. It wasn't that she was an outcast, she just felt like no one wanted to deal with her more than they had too. She wasn't gloomy so that was a plus. She always had a smile on her face and everyone said hi and bye but that was it. They didn't invite her anywhere or anything extra. But Rin didn't mind that, she had bigger things to worry about, like surviving after she aged out the house.

It was the 4th period and studyhall for her. So she went down to the library to use the computer to see if she could find any information about Sesshomaru. The name wasn't common so she figured a search in the web browser might pull something up.

And pulled something up it did.

"Oh my God." the words were forced through her windpies in a croaky whisper. She started coughing, not used to using her voice. She couldn't believe what she was reading. Sesshomaru was the Young Lord. Whenever they referred to him on the news or anything it was always as "Young Lord" , never his real name, so she literally did not put 2 and 2 together to get 4. He always stayed out of the spotlight as well. She was going to hyperventilate.

Was he really going to meet her after school and for what? He was 19, 3 years older than her. He probably had a beautiful college girlfriend who was rich, pretty and smart. Everything she wasn't. She was a poor orphan who had to study hard for scholarships. Pretty average looking too.

"Mmmmct!" Rin smacks her lips and logs off the computer. Finding out who he was just killed her mood. She never had a chance with him in the first place. And for some reason that made Rin heartache. Maybe they could be friends? Well she hopped anyways, no one wanted to be friends with the mute girl.

"But I won't be mute no more!", she thought enthusiastically. I'll just have to wait and see.

The rest of the day Rin tried to keep her spirits up and hoped she could see Sesshomaru and be friends asleast. Prayed he didn't think she was a bother. The bell rang and she waved to the few people that said goodbye on her way out rushing. She wasn't in any activities and she already had gotten her few books from the library. Leaving early like this also gave her a chance to dodge those bullies. Sometimes being short sucked, definitely did not help it was always 3 of them.

As Rin stepped off the trial to her favorite place her heart started racing. And sure enough when she got to the edge there he was, eyes closed leaning against a tree. Dressed in a white shirt, lounge pants and some casual ankle boots, nothing heavy, he looked extremely relaxed. He had a couple of bags by his side.

Rin made her way over and sat down as she did before and pulled out her homework. She was about halfway through concentrating when she felt that sensation and knew he was watching. She continued on like she didn't know. She heard rustling and then…

"Eat." Sesshomaru once again commands. She peered over her shoulder and this time it was a personal bento box. A nice looking one. She mouthed a thank you and took it. And as much as she wanted to do the little dance of refusing then taking it he seemed like the type to only say something once.

She opened it up, everything in it looked homemade. Today she wouldn't stuff her face like yesterday. But when she took a bite of one of the sushi rolls she hadn't had anything this good in years. She felt like she was getting a break from jail food. She happily ate the rest doing a little dance and humming to herself eyes closed. Feeling that sensation the whole time, he really knew how to warm her up.

Sesshomaru watched as she finished the bento box, eyes closed as if she'll never taste anything like that again. He would present her with the phone now. He wanted to make sure she did some of her homework. He had a sinking suspension that she would be up all night on the device.

"This is for you.", he handed it to her. She took one look at it and pushed it right back shaking her head back and forth furiously.

"You will take it for your safety Rin, You will call me for anything." He placed the phone back into her hands. She gave him that smile. A smile that was meant to stay on her face. Her cheek looked better and before he knew it he was already reaching out to run a finger over it. He wondered about it. Did it come from the orphanage, school, a boyfriend…? And as if reading his mind. It was rough from years of not using it but it was still fenimen -

"Some girls at school. It's nothing to worry about.", Rin whispered.

He froze mid stroke and lowered his gaze to her lips. He never expected to hear her voice.

"For you. I'll try." she whispered again, followed by a cough. He handed her the water he bought for her as well. She drank it greedily. Wiped her mouth and proceeded to open the phone and set it up. He felt her excitement vibrating off her. He leaned back against the tree and closed his eyes.

Next thing Rin was taping him showing him a message on the phone.

"My curfew is 7"

His eyes shifted to the corner of the phone 6:45 he read. And proceeded to stand up. Rin started packing up her backpack and handing the bento box back to him. It was his favorite one. He made his way back down the path to his car. Light footsteps let him know Rin wasn't far behind. She moved like a cat herself.

He proceeded to the passenger side and stopped with his hand on the door. His S-Class unlocked anyways and looked at Rin.

"Do as you please." he said, He meant to give her a way out if she didn't want to come with him insteading of assuming and he won't force anyone.

He took her walking over as a sign and opened the door and she slid right in. Once inside he hit the push to start and they were off in a familiar direction. The orphanage wasn't far, especially via car; it was probably a 5-10min drive away.

He looked out the side of his eye and saw she was fiddling with the apps and settings. His eyes slid back to the road. He would make sure to input his personal number in her phone before he let her go and to set plans for tomorrow. It was the end of the week. As he slid to a stop a few hundred feet away from the entrance he slid the phone out of her hand and input his contact information he left the name blank. Once she saw what he had done she quickly filled out the name and showed him

"Maru-sama."

He narrowed his eyes at the name to which she giggled and replied, "I would hate for anyone to find your name in my phone my lord". Still raspy. She would need to take her time. He guessed that made sense. He didn't know anything about the living conditions inside or rules. He hummed his agreement. So it seems she figured out who he was in the day apart, but she was still acting the same. Good.

The dash read exactly 7:00 and he wanted to make sure she didn't break curfew. If they were to be spending any more time with each other things like this would need to be respected to not cause worry and it kept people from prying.

"Rin, are you free tomorrow?" to which she nodded. "I will text you."She gave him the brightest smile that was blinding. He was sure at this point she had a hidden power of light. She slid out of the car with a quick "Goodbye Sesshomaru-sama" to which he frowned over the lord part and ran to the house. Once she was on the porch he threw the car in gear and drove off to his apartment. He still had plans that needed to be put into play.
