Shirayuki expected it to feel a bit more awkward to be a part of a family dinner, especially with Haki whose absolutely brilliant and perfectly fit to be a future queen of Clarines, and with Izana who can still easily unnerve anyone and has the intelligence that perfectly matches his cunning. The two of them will make an amazing royal couple, that rule the kingdom with all that is needed.

She feels particularly undermatched to be sitting here with Zen, her hand in his beneath the table for the steady reassurance that flows through it. It's an odd feeling, a surreal one.

"So, you'll be a part of the family one day, most likely?" Haki didn't cut any corners or hide her own unwavering understanding and curiosity.

"I guess so." I hope just sounded too flowy, too much like a flower that won't withstand the winter, even though Shirayuki knows hope isn't weak. It just feels like it to say so.

"Most likely." Izana shrugged, and somehow from him, it felt less like an affirmation and more like a challenge. So, she took a deep breath.

"Relax." Haki told her, and with that word and her own posture, her steady gaze, and her own relaxed state, Shirayuki almost wanted to. How is Haki already so regal seeming?

"It's okay." And Zen's blue eyed gaze is off in the other direction at the same time that his face is red, and for once, Shirayuki feels at peace at a family dinner with her eventual in-laws.

"Okay." Shirayuki's more determined to make the most of this now, and Haki just looks at her, something genuine and kind of earnest.

"It will be nice being your sister one day." She's more full of the kind of reassurances that Shirayuki thought somehow would be spoken by Zen, but his red face and the fact that he invited her here is enough of its own kind of assurance as well.

"It will be." And Shirayuki squeezes Zen's hand in hers, and focuses instead on the family that they will likely become, the family that she really wants to be a part of, despite how much she stands out.

Haki's already becoming a sister to her, Shirayuki figures, because her own desire will meet action one day, and Izana isn't nearly as scary as he once was. It will be alright; there's peace to be found at this family dinner table already.
