The Kid's Club
The following day, Mokuba, Rebecca, and Leon met up in the Secret Garden. The blonde and the redhead were surprised to see Mokuba with shorter hair. "Nice haircut, Moki," Leon complimented.
Rebecca agreed. "It makes you look mature and handsome."
Mokuba gave a bashful chuckle. "Thanks, guys. Now that we're here, why don't we find an ideal place for having our own clubhouse?"
The children agreed and began searching. This wouldn't be easy, however. The Pure Valley was so big and there were so many different places. There was the meadow where the Bone-Eater's Well stood and the field was wide. There was also the cave behind Celestic Falls, but it was a little damp and the sound of the waterfall was a little loud. The trees in the Secret Garden seemed nice because they bore all kinds of fruits and they were strong enough to hold treehouses, but the children wanted something big and accommodating. They almost considered having a clubhouse close to one of the hot springs, but decided against it, for they didn't want it to look like they would be prying in on someone's relaxation time.
After an hour of wandering around, the children decided to stop and rest. "Whew," Mokuba sighed. "This is harder than I thought."
Rebecca pulled out a notebook. "Well, we already have ideas on what kind of clubhouse we want, but we need to think about a convenient place to have one."
"Yeah, like, do we want it out in the open like in a tree or in a field or do we want it in a secret location like underground or in a cave," Leon asked.
"And once we find an ideal location, how are we going to build it?" Rebecca added.
Mokuba spoke up. "My brother's offered to gather up some friends to help us build a clubhouse once we find out where we're going to have one."
The children looked at each other. Suddenly, their communicators started activating. They opened them up and a layout of the Secret Garden was partially displayed on the monitor with instructions. The instructions said to walk to Half Moon Pass. Half Moon Pass was at the northern border of the Valley. Beyond the Pass was Rainbow Canyon, so called because the layers were laid out like the many colors of the rainbow. The canyon was also full of jewels, diamonds, and crystals of every color of the rainbow.
It was a beautiful sight to look at. People who came to this Canyon were tempted to take the jewels and crystals and take them back to their world to sell for large amounts of money, but decided against it. It would cause sellers and entrepreneurs to ask where such treasures came from and it wouldn't be good to bring greedy businessmen to such a place like this.
Another message showed up on the communicators, telling the children not to enter the Canyon, but to go to the right. They followed the instructions and came to a rocky wall with an opening that was concealed with vines. Inside was a small cave, smaller than the one inside Celestic Falls.
"This looks promising," Rebecca said sarcastically.
"Remember, things aren't always what they seem," Leon reminded her.
Mokuba took a few steps inside, then looked down at his communicator, waiting for further instructions. There was a message that said to look down. He obeyed and saw a bed of fresh moss at his feet. The whole floor of the cave was covered with moss. He wondered and knelt down and felt the moss with his hands for anything unusual.
Suddenly, a door opened up from underneath like a trapdoor. Mokuba walked down with Leon and Rebecca following behind. The door sealed itself and the underground suddenly lit up. Looking ahead, Mokuba saw two doors that suddenly opened up on their own. "It's an elevator. Come on, guys. Let's get on." And he jumped inside.
"Wait for us," Leon said, going in after him. Rebecca followed. Once everyone was inside, the doors sealed themselves and the elevator moved down. The doors opened again and the children were astonished at what they were seeing. It was a large room with a table surrounded by chairs. There was also a board with writing utensils on one of the walls. In another room, there was a laboratory with computers and chemistry sets and other pieces of lab equipment. This room amazed Rebecca the most. Mokuba came to another room that was full of shelves for books. However, the shelves didn't have any books. She figured she and her friends would have to bring some from home.
Leon found a room that looked like a lounging area with comfortable sofas and a television with games and toys and a video player. Rebecca found another room that appeared to be the kitchen as she saw empty cupboards for snacks and goodies and there was even an oven, a stove, and a microwave. Mokuba found another room that appeared to be a sleeping area with rows of beds. He tried one of the beds and felt that it wasn't too hard or too soft. Even the sheets and blankets were nice and silky. There was also a gym room with exercise equipment.
The children met up in the main area. "This place is amazing," said Rebecca. "It has everything we want for our clubhouse."
"I guess this means that we found the clubhouse that we wanted," Leon assumed.
"I guess so," Mokuba replied. He looked at his communicator. "I guess Millennia heard that we wanted to have our own clubhouse and she worked on putting all of this together for us."
His friends agreed. "We've got to get the others and show them this place," said Rebecca.
"So what are we waiting for?" Mokuba asked. They went back to the elevator and used it to get to the entrance. Then they came out from the moss-covered trapdoor and walked out of the cave and hurried to go to the other worlds where their friends lived.
Their first stop was back at the Bone Eater's Well. The children jumped in and felt themselves being transported to the world of Feudal Japan. Once they reached the bottom, they climbed out and hurried to the village, calling out for their friends.
Kohaku heard the sounds of the voices of his friends and stepped out from his sister's house. His brother-in-law was out for the moment, so he was looking after his sister for the moment. Not long after getting married, Sango became pregnant. She still wasn't due until another few months, but Kohaku had been helping her whenever Miroku was away. Rin helped out too.
Kohaku smiled as he saw his friends. "Mokuba, Rebecca, and Leon are back," he said to Rin.
Her smile brightened up. "Lady Sango, would it be all right for Kohaku and I to see our friends?"
She chuckled and said, "Go ahead. I'll be all right."
"Thanks, Sister," Kohaku said. "We'll be back." And he and Rin left the house and eagerly greeted their friends. Shippo heard the commotion and went to go see them too. Rebecca and Rin jumped and hugged each other. Shippo landed on Leon's head and the redhead began tickling the little fox child. Mokuba and Kohaku jumped and high-fived each other and hugged each other. Many people who saw Mokuba and Kohaku sometimes mistook them for brothers because they looked like they were related. They were, but not to each other. But the two dark-haired boys didn't mind it so much. They sometimes felt like they were brothers to each other because they were both the younger brothers of their siblings.
"It's so good to see you guys," Leon said, setting Shippo down.
"We've missed you all so much," Rebecca said, picking up the fox child and hugging him.
Rin finally noticed how different Mokuba looked. "Mokuba, your hair is shorter."
He nodded and asked, "Do you like it?"
"Yeah, it's a new you," Kohaku said, ruffling Mokuba's hair and making him laugh.
"But I liked your hair long," said Rin. Sometimes people thought Mokuba and Rin were twins because they both had long dark hair.
"Well, it'll grow back," he assured her. "Anyway, come on. There's a really cool place we want to show you guys."
That was when Inuyasha showed up. "Really, now? And where is this really cool place?"
"Oh," Mokuba said, then he paused, thinking of an answer. He didn't want to show the clubhouse to Inuyasha. But maybe if he said a different location, it would change the half-demon's interest. "It's a mud pool in the Pure Valley."
Inuyasha scoffed. "What's so cool about a mud pool?"
Rebecca smirked and played along. "We had exactly that impression when we first came to the mud pool. We thought it was gross, but it turned out to be nice and relaxing." She began to describe how warm the mud felt and how relaxing it was and how it treated her complexion.
Inuyasha looked at the children with disinterest. "You kids are weird," he said and walked off. "But if you want to play in mud, be my guests. Say 'hi' to your brother for me, Mokuba."
"Will do," Mokuba replied.
As the children left the village and hurried back to the Bone Eater's Well, Rin asked Mokuba, "Mokuba, are we really going to a mud pool?"
He looked back and said, "No, I just said that to keep Inuyasha from coming along."
"So where are we really going?" Shippo asked.
"We'll show you when we get there," Rebecca said, annoyed. One by one, they all jumped into the Well and were transported back to the Secret Garden. Now they had to go and get Rini. Rebecca decided to go and get her while Leon and Mokuba would take the rest of the gang back to Half Moon Pass.
The blonde girl passed through the door to the world of the Sailor Scouts and wound up in front of Serena's house. She knocked on the door and it was answered by Serena's younger brother Sammy. He was an elementary school student with short dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. "Oh, hey, Rebecca," Sammy greeted.
"Hi, Sammy," Rebecca returned. "Is Rini here? I was hoping she could come out and play."
"Yeah, she and Serena just got back a few minutes ago," he said. He looked back towards the interior of the house. "Hey, Rini, your friend Rebecca's here."
Rini peeked out from the hall and smiled brightly as she saw Rebecca. "Becky, hi!"
"Rini," Rebecca squealed and began hugging her. "I'm so glad to see you. I've missed you so much."
The girls released each other and Rini said, "I guess you had another adventure."
"Yeah, and I've got so much to tell you," said the blonde. "So let's go. Everyone's waiting."
So Rini slipped on her shoes and followed Rebecca down an alley and back to the Secret Garden.
Once everyone was all assembled at Half Moon Pass, Mokuba, Rebecca, and Leon led them to the small cave behind the vines. The blonde girl found the trapdoor and opened it, allowing everyone to pass through. Then they all went through the elevator and went down, entering the clubhouse.
"Friends, we give you our secret clubhouse," Mokuba announced.
Everyone looked in amazement. They also explored the many different rooms and marveled at all of the different equipment. "Wow, this place is great," said Rini.
"We just discovered it," said Leon. "Rather, the Great Goddess created this place for us."
"But what exactly is a clubhouse?" Rin asked. "What's it for?"
Rebecca decided to explain. "A clubhouse is a special place where friends can gather to hang out and share their interests and play games and even have special meetings."
"We've often thought about having one especially for all of us here," said Mokuba. "Here we can do anything; talk, play, eat, just hang out."
"That sounds like fun," said Shippo.
"Yeah, I think us having our own clubhouse is a great idea," Rini said in agreement.
It was great to see that everyone was enjoying themselves and admiring the secret clubhouse. Suddenly, Leon started thinking about his new friend Olivia and wondered how she was doing. He was even thinking about bringing her here and introducing her to everyone. But how would they react to seeing a talking mouse?
Mokuba noticed how quiet Leon suddenly became. "Hey, Leon, you okay?"
He pulled himself together. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking, I guess."
Mokuba had a feeling he knew what was on his friend's mind. "You're thinking about Olivia, aren't you?"
The redhead was surprised. "How'd you guess?"
"Come on, Leon, I know you miss her. Besides, you two are best friends." He lowered his voice and said, "And I know you're thinking about having her over here." He was feeling the same way about the hunchback and wanting to invite him over, but decided against it because of certain circumstances.
Rebecca heard their discussion and invited herself to join in. "Leon, why don't you go back to London and ask Olivia over here? That way she can meet all of our friends."
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Absolutely," the blonde replied. "I think it'd be great to have her as a part of our club." She then looked at Mokuba. "In addition, we should get the Digimon and show them this place too."
"Good idea," Mokuba said in agreement. He turned his attention back to the others. "Hey, guys, Becky and Leon and I need to take care of something, but we'll be right back. In the meantime, you just enjoy yourselves."
"Okay," everyone replied. They decided to go to the playroom and play a few games while Mokuba, Rebecca, and Leon left the clubhouse and hurried back to their homes.
