Chapter 8 – Siblings are Always Fighting

Sarah screamed in terror as a huge, monstrous creature that looked like a mix between a jellyfish and some kind of jungle cat jumped out of the hole in front of them. The monster saw them and shot a blast of black colored magic at them. Lee jumped out in between Sarah and erected a barrier from his hand. It wasn't as powerful without being transformed so he was pushed back a few feet but held it off. Sarah was a bit past scared, "What the hell was that?" "No time to explain, just get back." Lee flew up into the air to Sarah's amazement and he put a defensive field around Sarah. He then sent a message to everyone telepathically, "Help, monster, park, quick." He could feel that the monster had distorted the space with magic, so Lee knew his friends probably couldn't teleport so it would take some time for them to arrive, Lance had warned them this could happen. The monster just kept attacking so he didn't have time to transform. He had to focus everything he had to gather enough strength to keep the monster at bay while maintaining the barrier around his sister.

Lee, "Alright, if that is the way you want it…" He gathered some magic into his right fist and flew straight at the giant wolf. "BREAK IMPACT," it connected square on but it only dazed him for a second. He decided he needed to use that attack. He landed so he wouldn't fly through the air from the backlash. Mythical surge of light combine your intense power, suppress your explosive flash unto the foe before me…" Kota started to gather a lot of magic into the palm of his hand, a small gust was coming from it. A ray to pierce the darkness, that which shatter's the void. FLASH BURST!" He unleashed an immense wave of magic that hit the Giant Wolf. It seemed to do some damage and knock it back a distance. At the very least it gave him an opening as he ran over to his sister. "Grab a hold of my hand, quickly!" Sarah grabbed his hand, still dazed and confused at the whole situation as Lee quickly teleported her to a hill a little ways away from the monster, much to her surprise. Sarah was now starting to pass the stages of initial shock at the situation and complete denial of what Lee was doing or how any of what was happening was even possible and was at the wanting an explanation stage, "Okay, I want an explanation for this. What the hell is happening and how are you doing all this with the flying and the fighting and the bizarre light beams and stuff?" Lee, "I promise I will explain later but just wait here for now?" Lee then pulled the blue marble off his neck, "Haruno, SET UP." He transformed into his barrier jacket and his staff appeared beside him. He then flew back to where the monster was. Wishing to go faster, Haruno activated a new enchantment spell, SPEED BOOST. Lee was surprised for a second then found he liked the increased speed. For some reason it felt natural to him.

When he got back to the place the Giant wolf was, he found that the wolf had already recovered from the FLASH BURST. "Okay, lets try this again. BREAK IMPACT!" He hit the wolf in the head and this time it seemed to do some massive damage. The wolf seemed stunned but then regenerated very quickly and resumed his attacking shooting blasts of magic at random. Lee dodged them easily. Then Haruno gave him an idea, "Try MassSwordDriver mode." Lee didn't know what Haruno was talking about, but he was ready to give it a go, "MSD, ignition start!" His barrier jacket started to change. Now it was lighter and slimmer but otherwise the same. The real change was in his staff. It had changed into a long sword with Haruno imbedded in the hilt. Haruno, "Beware, you cannot currently use most spells in this form but you can used auras and shields. But in return you have amazing close combat power and enhanced physical traits while in MSD mode." Lee felt it, he felt powerful. He then charged for the wolf and swung aiming to cut through the head. He also realized that he had insanely enhanced speed in his new form. To the monster, he appeared as a blur if anything at all. He sliced through the head and to his surprise; he cut the entire wolf in half with the one swing. There was also a crack in the ground. The monstrosity just regenerated itself and Lee sliced it a few more times. It wasn't doing anything so he changed his sword into his staff in shooting mode and charged up a good amount of magic and shot his SHINNING BUSTER right at it. It made a big hole in the monster but it just regenerated. The monster seemed to be smarter than the other foe's he had faced; it seemed to learn from each attack as Lee had noticed that it had dodged a bit to the side, avoiding what may have been a finishing blow.

The monster then did something totally unexpected, it charged at Sarah. Lee activated his new MSD mode and his staff changed into the sword again and he sped in between them quickly and sliced it into a thousand pieces (literally) in a blink of an eye. It then regenerated and the battle resumed. Sarah just continued to watch in horror and amazement at what her brother was doing as he went head to head. She just couldn't understand it. She tried to think about it all, but her head went dizzy as she realized exactly what was happening. She entered a sort of post shock state and fell limply to her knees, and she suddenly found her mind trying to reassure herself, "No, this isn't real, it can't be real. This is all just a dream, and soon I'll wake up, back at home, in bed, and then Lee will take me around the city like he promised me. None of this is real." This repeatedly went through her mind, over and over. She was only half-heartedly watching the ethereal battle between her brother and the supernatural monstrosity he was fighting. But the more she watched, the more she wondered about it. She suddenly found herself starting to shake out of her daze, and soon, she found that her previous thoughts were being drowned out by newer, stronger ones, "Why is Lee fighting this thing, why not someone else?" "Why does he have these weird powers, where did they come from?" "Why not someone else, why not me?' "I want to help too."

After a bit, only one thought was flowing through Sarah's head. "I want to help, what can I do? I need to help him, I do not want to let him fight on his own and be in danger." Sarah didn't really fully notice, but her body was starting to tingle with a light burning feeling. Back at the fight, the Monster charged up a huge blast of Magic, it was immense. With his speed, Lee easily dodged it. Unfortunately, he realized a split second too late that by dodging the blast, it started to head towards Sarah. He charged but he knew that he wouldn't make it. The same thoughts still were going through Sarah's head. "I want to help, let me fight too!" Sarah suddenly felt it, a wave of some weird kind of heat was filling her up, but she was less occupied with the weird feeling then the bright light that was heading her way. She looked up to see the attack heading for her, and she knew that there was no way she could get out of the way, and for a moment, her life flashed before her eyes. She truly thought she was going to die, but she couldn't accept it, trying to figure out some way to survive, to help her brother and end this hellish nightmare, and then it happened. Sarah began to glow brightly; she was enveloped in a white light. Then a pure white shield appeared right in front of her, and it was strong. It held what would otherwise be her doom at bay, but that wasn't all. The light that had been surrounding her started to coalesce into a small but blindingly bright sphere in front of her, continuously shrinking until it finally popped a bit with a flash. A very light whitish-blue marble appeared out of the light and floated over to Sarah, forming a necklace loop around her neck and then, to Sarah's complete shock and surprise, it spoke to her, "BRIGHT DESTINY here to help, Master. Please give the activation command."

Sarah had absolutely no idea what had just happened. She had been thinking about her own helplessness, and that she wanted to help, but she hadn't really expected anything to happen, but now it was there, right in front of her, exactly what she had asked for, and so she knew this wasn't the time to think about the insanity of what was happening and instead focus on helping her brother defeat the monster before them. "Right, um, what were you called again." "BRIGHT DESTINY master." Sarah, "Right, um, so how did Lee do it again?" She thought for a second at how her brother transformed, "Oh yeah, lets give it a go." She grabbed the white marble around her neck and help it up high, "BRIGHT DESTINY, SET UP!" There was an insanely bright flash of white light, then Sarah reappeared, but she was vastly different than she had been. Her clothes had changed into some form of barrier jacket, she was in a bright white skirt and what seemed to be a pure shinning white blazer with a single black stripe on the top part of the skirt. Then a Staff appeared next to her. It was Bright white with silver stripes and a silver head in the shape of a ball and there were four silver prongs around that ball. Also to Lee's and Sarah's surprise, her hair turned bright white. Sarah examined herself quickly, still in utter shock at what had just happened. Lee also looked shocked. Both himself and the monster he was fighting seemingly paused from the bright flash of light and release of power that Sarah had seemingly just performed. Before either one could respond though, Sarah had flown over and was now between the monster and Lee.

Suddenly a pure white magic circle appeared under her. "Try PIERCING LIGHTS." Sarah knew what to do instantly as BRIGHT DESTINY sent her the information she needed. She held her staff up high and pure white magic balls of light started flowing out of it and gathering in front of her. She then pointed her staff at the monster, "PIERCING LIGHTS, FIRE." They all fired straight at the monster and pierced him all over. It regenerated but slower due to the white magic fragments still imbedded through its body. Sarah, "I'm not done yet. Second stage, BLIND DESTRUCTION!" All of the light fragments instantly exploded blasting it to smithereens. It then regenerated again but it took a while this time due to the extensive damage. Next another spell came to her "ANGELIC AURA." She tried it and she started shinning in a white aura. The monster attacked with a blast of magic but this time when it hit her, she didn't feel anything. Bright Destiny, "ANGELIC AURA only lasts for three hits before it disappears and you can't reuse it for a while afterwards, but it completely nullifies the attack. Now let us do it, try BLAZING DESTINY, master." She suddenly felt the urge to raise her staff, and so she pointed it straight up and suddenly, a super large magic circle appeared under her, followed by a small sphere appearing above her. It was shinning white and it suddenly started to grow bigger and bigger as Sarah put more of her power into it. It continued to grow until it was the size of a house. "Lee, Brace yourself." Haruno suddenly sent a new spell to him, "SHINNING ARMOR," Lee was now glowing in a golden light just as bright as Sarah's. She then pointed her staff at the monster and the giant sphere moved with the staff. "BLAZING DESTINY, SHOOT!" The giant blast of white magic shot straight for the wolf at an amazing speed like a giant bullet. It left a path of destruction in its wake as it passed. It hit the monster straight on and on contact, exploded in a blinding blast of white magic that sent shockwaves of power shooting in all directions, leveling about a good block of the city to nothing but bits of dusts, much to the complete shock and awe of both Lee and Sarah, who hadn't expected to cause such won ton destruction.

Lee, "Holy crap, warn a guy, would you." Sarah, "Sorry Lee. I had no idea what would happen, I just did it by instinct." Lee, "Get smarter instincts then." Just then, tiny bits of black stuff started to converge in mid air and slowly, the monster regenerated itself. Sarah, "What is it going to take to get rid of this thing?" As if responding to her question, the white sphere in the head of her staff lit up, "Try the HolyBladeDriver mode, master." Sarah, "Okay Destiny, HBD mode, IGNITION START!" Sarah's staff turned into a small short sword with a silver hilt with BRIGHT DESTINY imbedded in it and a pure white blade. "Master, please note that the only moves you can currently use in this mode are BRIGHT SLASH and FLASH CROSS." "Okay, Lets use BRIGHT SLASH." The blade began to shine. Then she speed towards the monster. She swung her sword at the monster and a shockwave of light flew off the blade. It tried to dodge but it hit it's leg and sliced it clean off. Sarah then noticed something very strange. The monster wasn't regenerating. Bright Destiny, "It is not possible for normal magic to regenerate when slashed by this sword." Sarah, "Next up is FLASH CROSS." At that point a large cross then appeared on the tip of her sword and wings appeared on her feet. "Woah!" Sarah felt herself float into a sideways position, with her feet on a newly formed magic circle behind her and she was pointing straight at her target. "FLASH CROSS, GO!." She launched at the enemy sword first at the wolf at such an amazing speed that the area around her tore itself up due to the shockwave she gave of when passing. She not only pierced the monster, she went through it. It was cut up into quarters from the cross like slash. Like the first sword slash, it did not regenerate.

The monster then put up a barrier around itself to keep its enemies at bay. Lee motioned to his sister, "Can you do another one of those flying slash things?" Sarah was panting, but readied herself, "Sure." Lee, "Good, do one when I say go and once you have launched it, get behind me immediately. Is that clear." Sarah nodded. Lee needed to make sure to time this right to catch it off guard. Suddenly, the barrier seemed to start disappearing as it prepared to fire an attack. Lee, "NOW!" Sarah launched her BRIGHT SLASH at the dome barrier and in response, the monster closed the barrier, but it wasn't perfect; the barrier seemed to weaken but didn't break, though the monster seemed to be dazed. "Okay, Haruno, SHOOTING MODE." Haruno changed into it's shooting mode. Suddenly a huge golden circle appeared under Lee as magic gathered into the staff. Then three huge rings appeared in front of the staff as Lee started to gather a HUGE amount of magic for his ultimate attack. "Okay, here I go. PURE LIGHT BREAKER!" A HUGE wave of magic shot straight at the barrier, which just shattered to smithereens, and it hit the monster straight on. It was blasted to oblivion and once again, Lee destroyed a good 2 blocks and turned it into a crater. All that was left was a small blob with the Saren Stone in it. Lee turned his staff into sealing mode and sealed it away quickly. Haruno "Saren Stone 20 received."

Just then, Chrono, Sakura, Nanoha and Lance in his human form came flying over. As they did, Lee fell to the ground but was caught by Sarah who helped him to the ground safely. They all crowded around them. Chrono, "What the hell happened here…" he looking at what was a significant part of a city and now looked like a barren wasteland. Nanoha "And who is that next to you Lee." Lee smiled, "First of all, you already know her. This is Sarah." Chrono, "Since when did Sarah have powers." Sakura, "And more importantly white hair?" Sarah, "Since about ten minutes ago. I still have no clue what they exactly are. I am actually in shock at what I just did but while I was doing it, it felt so natural, so I'm really just going with it at this point." Lee, "A giant Wolf monster spawned by the stone just came out of nowhere and…" Lee explained what had happened and how Sarah's magic awakened and how she helped defeat the monster. Lee, "By the way, I noticed a barrier was put up all over the city." Lance, "We didn't know exactly where you were so I just made a barrier cover the entire town so I knew it would cover you." Lee, "Thanks." Nanoha, "That must have been one intense battle you had to cause all this. Sorry I couldn't help, we had trouble getting here 'cause we couldn't teleport for some reason."

Lance seemed to be tiring out fast from the extra-large barrier so he got to work quickly. He then cast magical restoration to fix everything. It took a while due to the extent of the damages. According to Nanoha, while Lance made it look easy, matter restoration magic as it was referred to was an incredibly difficult and advanced magic that very few mages had the skills to do, though Lance was considered a master at it. After everything was taken care of, Lance asked them to release their Barrier jackets. Sarah's whitish-blue marble BRIGHT DESTINY formed a necklace and placed itself around Sarah's neck. Sarah suddenly brought up something that had gotten her curious, "By the way Lance, you know you have the same name as that ferret Nanoha's got." "Actually…" Lance suddenly turned into his ferret form. Sarah was very surprised by this but then said it was cool. Lance then finally let down the barrier and returned them to normal space-time. Sarah, "Oh my gosh, Lee, we're late for getting back. We wasted too much time on this battle." Lee, "Look at the convenience store clock across the street." She did and it said 5:02. "The hell? It's only been half an hour? Now that's bizarre." Finally Lee and Sarah made it home and just in time for their mother to be putting dinner on the table.

Authors Note:

So a few chapters in, and magic seems to be sprouting out the woodworks. I can actually imagine Oprah going "And you get some magic, and you get some magic" while pointing to everyone in the audience, and in this story, it feels like that's the case. Magic, as stated previously is supposed to be incredibly rare on Earth, so how is it that a boy, his sister and his two best friends all seem to have a good amount of it? The answer, is, if you really want to know… for the PLOT! Okay, not really, that's a joke, but also kind of not a joke. In truth, there is an in-universe reason while all this is happening, but that would be spoilers, and despite the natural curiosity that most people have, I think we can all agree that EVERYONE hates spoilers, even those who say that don't really do. But I want to assure you that there is major plot behind this conglomeration of magic users in a place where it should be impossible, and because of that, it's not even the last reveal of such a person (is that a spoiler or foreshadowing? I don't think it's the former, but if so, I deeply apologize) so look forward to finding out that reason. All I'll say is the ever-smart Lance Scrya already has an idea about it, do you?
