A/N: For most fandoms, I tend to ship along canonical lines. But of course there are always exceptions. F
or Stargate, I've always loved Daniel/Vala (and I do believe them to be canon in my heart of hearts). I appreciate Jack/Sam, and I usually write Jack/Sam in my D/V stories.
But I adore Cam/Sam. I've read some truly gorgeous Cam/Sam fics, and I can't help but love them to pieces. This is my first attempt at writing Cam/Sam. I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea. But it was fun for me to dip my toe in those waters. Hopefully someone will enjoy this little piece.
5. "Oh no, you're a Morning Person!"
The sun was barely peeking through the windows when she heard his voice calling from the kitchen. "Rise and shine, sugar! The coffee's hot, the bacon's crisp, and the pancakes will be hittin' the griddle in about two minutes!"
She groaned, burying her face in the pillow. She should have known. She really should have known. Any time something seemed too good to be true, it usually was. People were no different. He'd seemed so utterly perfect, and she'd spent years looking for his flaws. She'd never found any.
Until now.
He entered the bedroom. "Hey, you okay? What's wrong?" She could hear the concern in his voice.
"You're a morning person!"
He laughed. "Yeah. Yeah, I guess I am. You can't grow up on a farm and not be. I take you're not?"
"Not when I don't have to be! It's our day off, Cam. We could at least sleep past sunrise!"
"Sorry." He sounded genuinely contrite, which brought her back to that perfection thing. It was almost annoying, really, except she'd never been happier. She lifted her head to grin at him, and the scent of the coffee and bacon hit her nostrils. "Oh, man, that smells good."
"Well, I am a pretty decent cook if I do say so myself."
"I'd say you're pretty decent at a lot of things."
"I try. Listen, babe, go back to sleep. All that stuff will keep."
"No, I'm awake, and now I'm hungry. Go fix those pancakes. Do we have blueberries?"
"Of course. You think I'd dare make you pancakes with no blueberries?"
"Good boy" Sam grinned again.
"Ruff, ruff."
She dropped her voice to a throaty growl. You bring that stuff to me in bed, and after we eat I'll pet you in all your favorite places."
It was almost comical how quickly he darted off to the kitchen. Sam laughed outright.
This thing between them was still new, and she felt all the uncertainties of that newness. But another part of her was deeply settled and at ease. This was Cam. Her Cam, whom she'd known for years. They just clicked on some level, and it all worked. Perfectly. He was perfect, and they were perfect.
She'd work on that morning thing bit.
