Legend says that the Moon, shining in the night sky, will choose its champion. Its lunar rays, in all their glory, will shine down on someone it has had history with many years ago. That someone, would be able to harness its power to keep everyone he loves safe. No one thought that the moon would pick a boy that was thought to never grow old. This is his story...

But first, one must know one thing about Neverland. You will never, no matter how long you stay, ever grow old. As of before, the only living proof of this was the 'boy who never grows old,' better known as Peter Pan. But now there they were, Jake, Izzy, and Cubby. All of them, sleeping soundly in their hideout, but only one was under the rays of the full moon. All of them unaware of what's to come.

See, this moon was full. Fuller than it had ever been before. This moon was special. This is because it is blue, like the sky on a sunny day with stray clouds up there.

His name was Jake. His raven-black hair shined under the light. His signature bandana layed on the left side of his pillow. His normally curious eyes were closed in tender sleep, and his normally carefree expression set into one of pure contentment. If one were to see his sleeping face right now, they would probably be gushing because of how cute he was. The light radiating off of the moon, glowing blue, with diamond-like sparkles inside the funnel of light. The moonlight fell on the sleeping child.

The moon has chosen.

As if in response, the sleeping child, Jake, started to shift. Tossing and turning, his eyebrows furrowed as if in an unpleasent dream. He suddenly sat up, moving his legs to the floor. Somehow not waking his mates, somehow still sleeping. Then, he stepped forward. He took another. And another. And another.

Within minutes he was out of the hideout. His brows still furrowed as he walked, not knowing where he was going, but letting the moon guide him. And this is what he saw.

Jake's view was through his own eyes, but there was something different about everything around it. He vaguely realized he was running, the view was bobbing up and down slightly and he was moving rapidly through the trees, the moonlight shining through them.

It was so sudden he didn't notice, his perspective changed from his own to that of an outsider. He ran even faster as a result, the trees becoming increasingly blurry the faster he ran. He then slowed to a stop, finally coming to a place where the forest of trees broke. Only this wasn't a clearing. This was a cliff, a cliff where you could see Neverland in its entirety, but he still didn't know he was.

Not even pausing to catch his breath he let out howl to the moon; It echoed out for miles.

While he was dreaming he kept walking, back to the place he had only dared to go twice. Back to the top of midnight hill. He stepped up, one foot after the other. His body instinctively knew where to step to not waste too much energy, to not stumble and fall.

He stopped when he was in the presence of the Great Stone Wolf. The Moon gem glinted when the Wolf saw the Moon's champion. Jake's body took that as a sign of ascent, and he walked up to the wolf, climbed up, just like he did before, and he climbed the mountain and placed his hand over the gem that practically radiated an ancient power. The power drew him in.

The reaction was instantaneous, a seemingly magical whirlwind of light enveloped Jake, and he began to change. Hair turned into fur, his clothes no where in sight, and his carefree emerald greens, turned into sharp, icy blues. This time, he didn't turn into a werewolf, he turned into a beautiful black wolf. Though this wolf was a juvenile, much like himself. The wolf's main coat is pure black, with white and gray peeking out from under the fur. Like stars forming the Milky Way, and clouds illuminated by the moon up in the sky.

He finished transforming, and not even pausing to catch his breath he let out a howl to the moon; It echoed out for miles. When he stopped, it could still be heard, because it echoed throughout the entirety of Neverland. Off the heights of the Never Peak, to Belch Mountain, through Tiki Tree forest, finally ending at Pirate Island.

The black wolf collapsed onto its side, the howl and the blind walk sapping its energy. The moon lunar rays, singing a melodious lullaby only he could hear, and the only thing he wanted was sleep.

At the first light of dawn the whirlwind of light reappeared, and like last time he changed, but this time it was to detransform. He was still asleep when he did so. So when he finally woke, Jake woke up bleary eyed, and when he saw the blinding light he immediately shut his eyes. After giving them a moment to adjust, he tentatively reopened them.

What he saw both surprised and horrified him. He was curled up like a dog on the summit of a mountain unknown to him. He was facing the cliff, his head almost teetering on the edge. A little voice in his head that he never heard before, seemed to scream, RUN, DANGER, RUN! When he came to his senses, his stomach dropped and he jumped back, getting as far as he could from the edge.

"Gah!"

In his attempt to scramble away from the edge, he hit his back on a hard object. He turned around, and what he saw made his whole body violently flinch. It was the statue of the Stone Wolf. Seeing the wolf is always an awe inspiring experience. It seemed to radiate an aura of intimidation surrounding it that earned it the title of 'Spookiest place on Neverland'.

It was strange because he couldn't remember ever being intimidated by it before. "Maybe it was the adrenaline and the fact that I was a werewolf at both times that rendered me immune." Jake pondered the thought for a moment. But this train of thought didn't last long. "Wait… When did I get here? HOW did I get here?"

He'd have to think about it when he got back. Jake didn't take two steps before suddenly remembering where he was. He realized he had to get down from there. So he got up and made to go down the same way he did the last time he was on the hill. But halfway down he slipped on gravel and stray pebbles. He saw an unexpected whirlwind of light that dominated his vision. That little voice in his head seemed to take over his body, he almost didn't notice his lack of control over his body for those split seconds, almost. He jumped down to the nearest platform so fast that he barely registered it.

One would assume he jumped like he normally did on his adventures, on both feet, but this time he didn't. He launched himself onto the platform, hands first, landing on his hands and feet with an unexpected grace. If he hadn't, he may have fallen onto the stone, bruised his ribs and hit his head. Even worse, he may have fallen onto the edge of another cliff.

He then saw another flash of light. It slightly disoriented him, he brought his hand up to his head to clear the dark clouds behind his eyes. When he could think and see clearly, he had a strange feeling, and so he looked at his hand. His hand looked normal, like any other tan hand. While he was, for some reason, a mix of disappointed and reassured by this, that strange feeling held fast. He knew he had to get back to pirate island, he had to know what that dream was all about, why he woke up at the top of Midnight Hill, and what those flashes of light were.

He had a nagging suspicion in the back of his mind, but left it there, opting to get home. But his mind subconsciously started putting the metaphorical puzzle pieces together. He paled at the possible conclusion his traitorous mind came up with. He left the mountain on his way home, shivering, even under the warm sun's morning rays, with a hope his suspicions weren't true. It was an empty one.
