Currently standing on the deck of a boat full of passengers is a young man named Apep Yu. Now Apep is twenty-four years old with tanned skin and an athletic build as he has clear Asian features and has black hair done in a top knot on his head along with black eyes as he is wearing a green heavy jacket over a black T-shirt with blue jean pants and black boots as he also had a large green duffle bag slung over his shoulder.

"So, this is Brockton Bay." Apep said to himself as he looked on at the rough looking city as this city was actually going to be his new home for the foreseeable future since his distant cousin died and left his entire home to Apep in his will.

Soon enough the boat was docked at the Brockton docks and people walked off the boat as some people are here to see the sights, but Apep remained focused as he made his way from the docks as he took out his touch screen phone and typed in the GPS location of his cousin's house as he made his way through the streets of the sizeable city before finally coming up to the house.

It was in a decent neighborhood and the mailman apparently came early since he was sitting in his car and putting mail in the appropriate boxes as Apep made his way to the one-story house and with the keys he had been given he opened the door and looked around the house.

"Not bad." Apep said as the place itself wasn't terrible or overly fancy. It was a simple house with simple furniture and that was just fine with Apep as he took a seat in the living room and cut on the tv after dropping his bag onto the floor to relax as he felt strange being in this house without his cousin Owen cracking jokes and breaking out bear.

"I'll miss you, Owen." Apep said as he and his cousin where practically brothers when they were children but sadly life has a way of testing bonds and for a while, they found it hard to stay in contact but when they met the whole town could practically hear them talking about any random subject. "A new job and a new life in this city." Apep said to himself with a sigh as he watched some tv drama while thinking back to his time in the military.

Apep served as a soldier, and he was a damn good one, but some messy drama got in the way with him and a superior officer which resulted in Apep leaving the Army but despite that he couldn't say that he regrated the time he spent within the Army. It taught him discipline and how to be a strong and confident man that can take whatever the world throws at him.

"What else is on?" Apep asked himself as he flipped the channel and stopped on the news.

"Breaking news down here in the center of Brockton Bay as a big-time gangster has been captured by the police thanks to new evidence of his crimes being mysteriously given to the police by a unknown source. Many people are asking question but given the calling cards that littered the gangsters house a few days before this event occurred, I think we can all come to the same conclusion that the vigilante group known as the Phantom Thieves was involved in this big bust. Back to you Olivia."

The anchor woman spoke her piece with confidence and what seemed like admiration when she spoke about the Phantom Thieves as the camera switched back to the newsroom as other news about Brockton came to light as Apep let out another sigh before switching the channel to something else entirely.

"Its hard to believe that my cousin has so many channels but there isn't a single thing to watch." Apep said before he decided to just go to the master bedroom and lay down for a nap. He had to work early in the morning, and it would be best for him to get as much sleep as he can.

Brockton Bay

Mega Mall

"Is this your first day?" A voice asked Apep as he was standing in an employee locker room and dressed in a black T-shirt with blue jeans and sneakers along with having a protective security guard vest over his chest with standard security issued items.

"Yeah." Apep said back to the guy as the man was around Apep's age and had sharp brown hair with fair skin and was dressed in a similar fashion.

"A quick piece of advice is that you should keep your head low here. Brockton Bay is a fucked-up city but as long as a cape doesn't come in here and fight you should be good. The name is Mark by the way." Mark said as he held out his hand to shake as Apep took it and shook the man's hand with no issue.

"Thanks for the advice." Apep said back as Mark shrugged.

"Don't mention it. Besides if a cape does show up, we've got protocols in place and luckily enough we get wards coming to this place all the time as added security or they just show up to shop. Either way my point is that you shouldn't try to be a hero and you only need to focus on being a security guard." Mark said as Apep thought about what he said.

"I understand." Apep said back before Mark left the room and Apep followed behind him as they started patrolling the mall and its numerous shops and attractions. "This is a lot of ground to cover." Apep said to himself as he walked and looked at the various people who were shopping around and talking or straight up ditching school since a few groups of kids where around and Apep knew that it was a school day.

"Yo, Apep do you read me?" A voice said from the walkie talkie fixed onto Apep's pocket as he unlatched it and raised it to his face.

"I read you. What's up?" Apep asked.

"This is your co-worker Lesley and I sent you a link to the work group chat on your phone. Please join the chat so you can have access to your work schedule." Lesley said over the walkie.

"Rodger." Apep said back as he put the walkie back before taking out his phone and joining the group chat before he heard a loud booming sound come from behind him as he saw dozens of people running away in fear. "What the hell?" Apep asked out loud before he saw smoke and coming out of the smoke was a group of people sporting what looks like military style clothing based on Germany given the design and the fact that they are also sporting the Nazi insignia as well.

"Fuck." Apep said to himself as he reached into a pocket of his vest and took out a basic black 9mm pistol as he noticed that several people where being taken by a few soldiers while the majority decided to try and attack more people.

The soldiers didn't hesitate to open fire on the crowd as Apep and a few others hid behind wall corners and inside of stores as Apep cautiously readied his pistol and peaked around the corner before he fired and hit a soldier and killed him with a headshot which quickly got the attention of the rest of the soldiers.

"The rice eater just took down Mat! Fuck him up!" One of the soldiers shouted before they took aim at Apep as bullets hit the wall he was hiding behind as Apep was taken back to his time in the service as he took a few breaths before he decided to act as he needed to buy time for a cape to come here and deal with things and hopefully the hero would be bullet proof.

"At least the civilians are getting out of the way." Apep said to himself before he bolted from the corner as bullets hit the ground by his feet as he got some distance before hiding behind another corner and taking a few more pot shots at the Nazi's as he wounded a few of them before having to reload his second clip into the pistol and sadly that was the last bit of bullets he had.

It wasn't even a full clip but than again this mall couldn't have expected something like this to happen.

"This is bad." Apep said as he ignored the words on the radio as nobody was saying anything helpful and the only thing Apep could do was try to lead the group away from the people who are still making their way out of the mall.

"Come out here you bastard!" Another Nazi shouted as Apep counted at least thirteen soldiers in total and he knew that this would not end well but Apep still took this situation as if it was a mission he was assigned.

He had to lead this group as far away as possible and as he looked to bolt again, he got tagged in the leg by a bullet that was fired from one of the Nazi's hunting rifles and crashed onto the ground. Now Apep was hurt and knew that this might be his last moment but instead of cowering he readied his gun to fire at the Nazi's before something strange happened.

The entire area around him changed as a thick cloud of darkness swept over every inch of the hall as the Nazi's stopped in place and looked around.

"Fuck! Is that shadow nigger here?" A Nazi asked as Apep didn't know who they were talking about but was thankful as the group seemed to get scared and tried running out of the darkness before Apep heard their screams which put him back on high alert.

Then suddenly Apep felt and saw disgustingly long arms wrap around his chest and body as the multiple arms restrained him in place as the arms seemed humanoid, but they are a obsidian black color and seemed to be like living shadows that gave off a purple aura and seemed to have some type of physical form as Apep struggled against his restraints as he realized that whoever saved him is also going to kill him apparently.

"Interesting." A deep and dark voice said from the darkness before a figure emerged from the shadows as this figure didn't look human and looked more like a beast as it stood on for large and muscular limbs with a hunched over body to match with a head that seemed to be dog or wolf like in nature with bleach white eye that had a strange sharpness to them as its whole body glowed with a purple aura of shadows.

"What are you?" Apep asked as he struggled against the arms before noticing the blood that dripped from the beast's mouth or at least what Apep assumed was a mouth since this being strangely didn't have any real identifiable features other than its shape and its eyes.

"I am Apex and sadly the last of my kind." Apex said as it stepped closer towards Apep who stopped struggling as the beast like being came closer to him. "Your DNA is different from most. It's compatible with mine." Apex said in a confusing tone of voice.

"You can see my DNA?" Apep asked in disbelief as he tried to think of a way out of this mess.

"Yes, I can, and it seems like you are going to be my savior." Apex said as that completely through Apep through a loop.

"What?" Apep asked but he didn't get a answer this time and instead he received terror as Apex placed his right claw over Apep's mouth and the claw itself changed into wispy tendrils that went into Apep's mouth and nose as Apep felt like he was drowning but somehow he was still able to breath and he had to deal with that sensation for a long time before the shadows and arms around him faded and Apex's entire body had somehow in some way entered Apex's body.

Apep didn't say or do anything as his entire body felt wrong somehow and the last thing he saw before he blacked out was several police looking down at him.

Brockton Bay

Atrium Hospital

"What the hell?" Apep asked as he slowly woke up and saw that he was laying down in a hospital bed in a hospital room as sun shined onto him from the window as memories of the events at the mall came to life and before he freaked out a helpful nurse came into the room and told Apep about what happened.

"You've been unconscious for roughly three days after the Empire attacked the mall and due to the nature of some of the Empire 88 soldiers it is suspected that you have had a trigger event and as a result you are not being charged with murder, but you will be closely monitored by authorities for a while due to the nature of the victims' bodies." The blonde nurse explained.

"What do you mean? What happened to there bodies?" Apep asked as the nurse seemed to swallow a bit of saliva and was a bit shaken up before speaking.

"The victims have been ripped limb from limb in a gruesome manner. Anyway, all of your bloodwork has been taken care of and physically nothing appears wrong with you so now that you are awake, we can start discharging you from the hospital." The nurse said before she quickly left as Apep quickly threw the hospital covers off of himself and looked his leg over and saw no bullet wound.

"I was shot but there isn't even a scar now." Apep said to himself before he remembered Apex and questioned himself even more. "The nurse said that I am fine physically but that should be impossible." Apep said to himself as nothing seemed to make sense to him right now.

"What happened to me?" Apep asked himself with total confusion.
