Citrus Fruit
He sat on the edge of the bed, head in
his hands, staring blankly at the closed door.
Why couldn't he stop thinking about her? How did she do this to him?
That onna! He couldn't get her face
out of his mind, couldn't erase the sound of her voice, calling to him. He thought he would go crazy if he didn't
have her.
The first time he saw her she was
chasing after him with a speed that threatened to rival his own. She had her gun raised and still managed to
run like a jackrabbit. He didn't want
to imagine if she wasn't pointing that weapon at him. She was the only one who was brave enough, or stupid enough, to
go after a Gundam pilot alone with only a gun to protect her.
He had found her stamina amazing and
her will to catch him intrigued him.
The same age as him, she was an incredible warrior. He couldn't help but imagine wrestling her
to the ground and…
He had only narrowly escaped her by
diving onto a speeding pickup truck's bed.
As he traveled away from her, he stared at her with wanting eyes. She slowed to a stop and brought her gun
down to her side,
cool, gray eyes gazing back at him.
"I'll get you Chang Wufei! Just you wait!" She called after him, enraged, as he disappeared
beyond the horizon.
He couldn't help but think that she
wanted him just as much as he wanted her.
It was that look in her eyes. At
that time he thought he might never find out.
But she there at his next two
missions. Poised to blow his head of with
a single bullet. She couldn't bring
herself to do what she should have done though. Each time she had her chance, she hesitated, allowing him just
the time he needed to slip away and escape her wrath.
All the missions after that, he kept
expecting to see her. Those gray eyes
flashing, her gun aimed high at his head…but she wasn't there. It was as if she had never been, like he had
dreamed the whole ordeal.
It had been almost four months since
he saw her last. And now he couldn't do
anything or go anywhere without seeing her face in a passing stranger.
A hard knock at his apartment door
pulled him away from his thoughts. He
rose from the bed slowly. The mattress
creaked from the shift in weight. The
same knock resonated through the rooms once again. He reached for the brass knob and slowly turned it as he pulled
back the deadbolt.
The hinges of the old door protested
with a loud whine as he stepped back and swung open the wood barrier that
separated him from the person on the other side.
He gasped in surprise to see her
standing there in the dimly lit hall, half hidden in shadows. Those gray eyes looked at him for just a
split second before she stepped across the threshold. Before he knew it she was on top of him, her lips pressed against
his. She paused and looked deep into
his eyes.
"I told you I'd get you,
Wufei." She said and started to
unbutton his shirt.
