Chapter 1: Assault
Zero turned his dash gear full power and ran as fast as he could. Yet, the dark figure wasn't showing any signs of tiring. He couldn't believe he was running from an enemy. But this was no ordinary maverick. 'I can't outrun this guy. I'll have to fight him before I run out of energy.' Zero thought, and at the next turn, he ran and stopped right beside the corner wall, drew his lightsabre, and waited for "it" to come. "All right, this is it." Zero said as he waited, ready to jump on the next thing that comes through. Still, where is it? It should have been here by now. Slowly, Zero moved to take a peek at the hallway he just came through.
It was empty.
A thought shot to his head. "Damn it!" Zero said as he turned, and came face to face with the dark figure. "You!" Zero yelled before he blacked out into nothingness.
X was confused. He was sleeping in his quarters when the alarm sounded code red, and got into his battle armor as fast as he could. Blasting few mavericks along the way. X grabbed one of the hunters rushing past.
"What's going on?" X said running along with the hunter,
"Mavericks have attempted to assassinate Dr. Cain. Zero took care of most of them, and chased one of them into the east wing. We're cornering out others out of the building."
"What about Cain?"
"He is guarded by about 200 hunters. I don't think anyone would get through."
'That's good.' X thought, 'Zero could take care of 1 maverick. But why would they try to eliminate Cain? No maverick would try to do that.'
"Would Hunter X please report to the Lab 2x5?" The speaker sounded. "I guess I better go."
"Report." Signas asked to one of the hunters that came through the door. "All mavericks are eliminated, but," The hunter hesitated,
"But what?" Signas questioned.
"We lost contact with Hunter Zero sir."
'Could it be?' Signas thought, "Form out the search party! Search the entire East wing! Find Zero!" Signas hoped he was wrong, but he had to think of the worst. They wouldn't try to kill Cain, he almost does nothing but research. It would only make sense if they had some other purpose. For some reason, he thought Zero's disappearance was related to it.
