My music blared in my ears, creating a barrier between me and the people chattering around me. I stared out the window into the inky depths of space, my attention being snagged on an asteroid as it hurtled by.

I knew I should be making conversation with my cousin, but I didn't have the energy. I was drained after my parting conversation-that was being generous-with my father, not to mention my breakup was still weighing heavily on my mind. Anthem understood, but still, I felt bad for ignoring my favourite person in the world.

I pulled my headphones off and turned to face her. The bus wasn't too loud, so I was able to adjust my hearing without getting my eardrums destroyed.

Anthem smiled at me, appreciation glowing in her black-blue eyes. "So, Musa, are you excited to attend the Fairy school?"

I shrugged. "Kind of? I mean, I know its what mum wanted for me, but I don't know if I can handle that much pink," I replied honestly.

Anthem snickered and nodded, her dark blue, almost long black hair swaying with the movements. "Oh, I know girl. It looks like someone covered it in fairy floss," she said, snickering. A sly smile crossed her face. "You know…you could always come join me at Cloud Tower. No pink there."

I shot her a look. As much as I would love to be with my cousin, I was a Fairy through and through. It would be a disservice to my mother if I didn't follow her wishes.

Anthem senses where my thoughts were going and reached out to hold my hand, giving it a squeeze. "You know you are always welcome with me if you need a break," she said, changing tack.

I smiled, though I felt my heart shattering at the thought of my mum. As much as I loved her, her siblings and my aunts Viola and Lyra, I still wished with all my heart that my mum was still alive. Maybe then I'd still have a real dad too, not just a shell of one.

"Sheerah and Vanna are excited to see you again too girl. They loved you when you visited for orientation."

My smile became a little less forced. Sheerah and Vanna were Anthem's roommates last year and were pretty cool girls. I wouldn't mind hanging out with them again.

"I'm excited to see them too. Maybe on the weekend we can grab a slice," I suggested.

"Why not earlier?" Anthem's eyebrows furrowed.

I sighed and raised my hand to adjust my black beanie. It was the only way I let my chin-length hair down was having my black Immortal Melody band beanie over it.

"I need to try to spend time with my roommates, not matter how much I may hate them. Especially if they're prissy princesses," I said, wrinkling my nose.

Anthem sighed and pouted. "I guess. But if you change your mind…"

I smirked, "I know who to call."

She grinned, looking radiant. How people thought Witches were ugly was beyond me. Anthem's long dark blue-black hair fell in a sheet to her waist, and she had a side fringe that was forever flopping into her eyes. Her style was slightly edgier, with calf length black ripped jeans with layered chain belt and a dark purple off the shoulder, crop length band shirt. She looked good to me.

My phone vibrated, and I groaned before pulling it out of my pocket. I saw the name and pulled a face, before shoving it back into my pocket. Anthem looked at me, and I shook my head to stop her asking questions. She opened her mouth and paused, before relenting.

"Passengers of the Interstellar, we are entering Magix airspace. Please stay seated and make sure your seat belts are fastened," the driver said.

Anthem squeezed her eyes shut and reached out to hold my hand. I let her squeeze it as we entered through the invisible barrier that let only registered people through. The bus jolted and, my stomach sank before resting in my throat. The bus slowly relaxed and my cousin's death grip loosened.

I looked at her with a raised brow, prompting her to huff and cross her arms over her chest. "Shut up, I had a bad experience last year."

I snickered but didn't comment. Magix was a big place, with four magic school and rumour had it a fifth being build, 7 main cities, a huge lake, forests, and Lightrock Monastery. I think the Interrealm Magic Council was there too, though I wasn't entirely sure about that.

I glanced out as the bus settled on the ground outside a squat pink castle with a light blue trim. I glanced at Anthem who smirked at me and winked.

"Text me when you get sick of the Fairies and wanna have some real fun," Anthem teased, winking at me.

I shook my head and got up so I could slip past her. I grabbed my rucksack and singular bag filled with musical instruments and music sheets, and waved goodbye to my sister-cousin.

"I'll message you soon, love you," I said, before striding down the aisle and making my way down the bus steps.

I waited as the doors shut and the bus lifted up. My hair fluttered in the wind, and I waved goodbye to the person who understood me most.

Sighing, I turned to the line of students waiting to get in the school and joined them as my stomach twisted into knots.

My music blasted in my ears and before long I was at the front. A woman wearing a face like thunder and thin glasses stared at me reproachfully.

"Name and Realm," she droned.

"Musa Chanson-Lark from Melody."

The woman looked through the list, before glowering at me. "You are not on the list."

I groaned and muttered, "Musette Symphony Allegra Chanson-Lark, from Melody."

The woman looked at her list and nodded sharply. "You are on the list. Here is your room key and your class list." I took the paper and the key and made my way through the gates.

A shimmering feeling pricked on my skin as I entered the school. I had to admit the school was pretty with the walkways and the central fountain, even if it wasn't my style.

My music kept blasting as I entered the school. The entry was beautiful with a grand staircase leading to the upper floors. I used my common sense and made my way up the stairs, dodging other students as I went. I was so grateful for my sneakers and winced as I saw the size of the heels some of the chicks were wearing. Reaching the top, I glanced around and noticed a bunch of confused looking girls heading to the left, so I followed them down the hall. The light blue doors held room numbers and after a bit of walking I finally find mine.

Chatter echoed through the walls, and I smirked when I heard the topic of conversation. Taking my chance, I burst open the doors and smirked as their gazes reached me.

"Yo, if you plan to blow anything else up, give us some notice so we can bounce," I said, earning chuckles from a red haired and a gentle looking brunette.

The blonde who I recognised as Princess Stella of Solaria-not that I'd tell her I recognised her-Huffed and pouted.

"I was trying to find a new shade of pink!"

I raised a brow and snickered. "Right, and the explosion was what, a side effect?"

She glowered at me and leaned over with her hands on her hips. Before she could comment, the red head, put her hand on her shoulder and calmed her down.

"Come on Stella, there's no need to get grumpy on the first day. Why don't we introduce ourselves instead?"

Stella huffed and crossed her arms before smirking smugly. "Well, I should need no introduction. I am Princess Estelle, Fairy of the Shining sun and Princess of the beloved Realm of Solaria."

I raised an eyebrow and snorted, before looking at the others. She glowered and cleared her throat. "The red-head hair is Princess Varanda of Vallisto."

"Vallisto. The fourth world of Magix's upper ring. You must be the Fairy of Defences. Hi, I'm Tecna from Zenith, Fairy of Technology." The pink haired girl said.

The red haired gave a shaky smile and nodded. "Um, yes! That's me. Fairy of defences…heh." I raised an eyebrow at the stutter in her voice but decided not to comment.

"I'm Flora from Linphea, Fairy of Nature" the gentle brunette said sweetly.

"Yo, I'm Musa from Melody, Fairy of Music." I said, giving them a two fingered salute. "Now as much fun as this is, Who's my roomie?"

Tecna raised her hand stiffly. "That would be me. I am your accommodation mate."

I smirked," Sweet, let me go chuck my bags down then we can chat."

I gave them my signature two finger salute and strode to the door Tecna pointed out. It opened easily and I whistled at my new digs. Tecna's space was the first and mine was accessible up a few steps. My bed was piano shaped with see through dark purple organza curtains and covered in a red and black checked bedspread. My desk was to the side with a red chair and a wardrobe was tucked in the corner. It was sick, and I quickly placed my bags down before pulling open my things. I set my guitar stand up along with the amp, placed my saxophone on the wall, placed my flute on the shelf and finally my violin. I wanted to get a keyboard but was lucky enough to get this past my dad.

I didn't bother unpacking my clothes and turned on my heel to meet the other girls in the front. Stella huffed when she saw me but didn't comment. Deciding I needed to try get along with the girls, I gave them a half smirk.

"What do you say we head out and grab a slice?"

Varanda and Stella shared a look before Stella smiled brightly.

"Let's do it girls! Come, I know just the place," she said, before smirking and sashaying off, with Varanda chasing after her.

I shared a look with the others, causing Flora to chuckle before following them, with Tecna following her. Shaking my head, I followed them, pausing only to shut and lock the door behind me.
