A/N: Greetings my dear readers this will be the final part in the so-called "Remnant Arc", the sequel to "Clash of the Ice Queens" and "This is my World." With this story intend to end the RWBY arc that chronicles the events of that went through the previous two stories (as always I recommend reading those before starting on this one) there will be other stories in what I have dubbed the Collective Chronicles series but they will most likely take place out of the RWBY series and continue into other series. So without further ado let's get into this prologue of the final part of this trilogy. Hope you all enjoy.
2 Months Later…
The days felt like they where blurring into one another.
Every day basically the same, a house, a chateau big enough to roam around in but outside not much to do. They had been forced to be there, this place was a safe zone between worlds, or at least that's what Megumi had explained, the spiky haired rough around the edges youth that now been gone for at least a week already.
And for Weiss the last few weeks had been nothing short of completely confusing. Not just the fact that their home world was attacked or the fact that she now had to pretend to be a mother to a girl who had mistaken her for her real mother, and also said real mother being her literal double from another world. That was not the greatest worry on Weiss's mind.
It was the fact that she actually kissed Jaune Arc.
She couldn't believe it actually happened. It seemed to happen so…so naturally. Like it was meant to happen that way, and that only put more uneasiness in her mind.
Her and Jaune had barely spoken since that kiss. While they had agreed to keep up the charade of Weiss being Kara's actual mother, they hadn't spoken much since the kiss occurred. Just gesturing to each other and sort of understanding how to tend to Kara's needs when it came to that.
And to Jaune's credit he took it all in stride. She was there when he met his daughter for the first time, the one he had never known about. Conceived while he was stranded in a different world with another version of her that was obsessed with him. It showed Weiss that Jaune truly had matured from the desperate goof he was at Beacon. He was an attentive and wonderful father to Kara.
She tried her best to be there for the young girl. Weiss felt guilty, she was not the girl's actual mother, but part of her also felt that in some ways she was…she just imagined the Multiverse worked weird like that. Regardless of the circumstances, she knew this was the best way. The actual truth would destroy the young girl and be certain to bring trauma upon her as she grew up and by some weird motherly instinct Weiss wanted to do anything to prevent that.
Walking through the walls of the chateau she could not escape her thoughts, her doubts about everything that had occurred.
The words that where spoken by her variant, that she and Jaune where meant to be? In every world out there. Maybe it was all true? Did what occurred between her and Jaune that day and the fact that she had now effectively become Kara's mother not proven that.
She stood there in the middle of the hall, holding back tears. Unsure about her place and all this and most of all, unsure about her feelings towards him.
Inside the Upside Down, Vecna walked through the clearing. On the way to the spot he had been forced to visit on a daily basis.
He hated it, despised it. Having to look after this brat…he had gladly snapped her neck long ago if his master hadn't giving the orders to make sure she was protected at all costs. The Lord Titan had saved him when those brats had nearly managed to kill him. He owed the Mad Titan an unpayable debt.
But that didn't mean he didn't despite looking after the comatose girl hanging suspended in the air by the vines of the Upside Down. He wasn't even sure if she was dead or alive, or even in between. She was just still there after two months.
Every day he checked on her, being disgusted by the sight of her being kept alive by his world. He despised her from day one. She was too emotionally volatile and would only ruin the plans the Collective had so carefully crafted. But she was the Lord Titan's adoptive daughter, and he could never doubt his judgement.
And so once more the ghastly and ghoulish Vecna once more made it over to the spot behind the large oak tree.
Only to find to his horror a sight he didn't expect nor wanted to see.
There Weiss Schnee hung suspended in the air by the vines. But on the ground looking up at her seemed to be another figure. It seemed like a human girl, dressed in simple jeans, wearing a black hoodie and a blonde ponytail was the only thing to be seen, as her entire face seemed to be covered by a black mask.
Vecna couldn't believe this sight. How did someone manage to get into his world without him noticing? He was connected to the entire hive mind of the Upside Down, if someone entered he would know about it.
He stepped towards her and menacingly said "who are you and how did you get in here?"
The girl turned around. Vecna could barely see her eyes as a small orange light surrounded them. In an instant the girl ran off with incredible speed, telekinetically Vecna commanded the vines to stop her. The vines shot up from the ground as the girl ran through the clearing and wrapped around her arms.
She didn't make a sound and Vecna walked towards her silently scowling at this intruder. But as he got closer he felt an incredible pain as the vines suddenly caught fire and Vecna reeled back as he felt the pain.
He had barely time to look up as he saw a silver object flinging his way, followed by another sharp pain this time in his leg.
A silver knife was lodged into his deformed leg as he got one knee and growled in pain looking at the girl who stood there with her arm extended. With her other hand she grabbed another blade from her belt.
But instead of throwing it at him she turned around and seemed to slash the air in an X shape, all of a sudden a rift seemed to open up right there, on the other end seemed to be traces of a snow covered mountain.
With one last look to Vecna, her face hidden behind the mask but her eyes glowing like small orange flames, the girl jumped through the rift which disappeared upon her entrance. Leaving Vecna behind in pain as he scowled in despair and rage.
Who was that girl?
A/N: So there is the start to this new story, the final part of this trilogy. I don't know when the next upload will be since I have to technically finish "Chemicals React" first since that story is what ultimately leads into this one but I felt I could write at least this small prologue and give you all devoted readers a small mystery to mull over. Hope you have fun figuring it out . As always thanks a lot for sticking with me throughout this all and I hope to give this arc a proper conclusion.
