welcome to my first ever crossover fanfiction. I know that I once said that I don't believe in crossovers, but the thought of Halloween this year has inspired me to write a crossover of my own. anyway, this fanfiction is a crossover between the sequel series to the 'Fruits Basket' manga titled 'Fruits Basket Another' and 'Xiaolin Showdown'. it doubles as a parody of the Disney Channel original movie titled 'Hocus Pocus' which by the way has a sequel of its own exclusively available on Disney+ for viewing purposes to those with an online membership.

this first chapter of my first ever crossover is strictly 'Fruits Basket Another' as it only has the children of the characters from the 'Fruits Basket' manga and anime series to it, with an original character or two. anyway, this first chapter of my first ever crossover is a whopping four-thousand-one-hundred-eighty-four words worth of storyline, give or take a comment from yours truly disguised as an author's note. none of the storyline for this fanfiction includes my welcome to the story up above, this headnote which tells how many words are in this chapter of my first ever crossover fanfiction, or the (mandatory) disclaimer in the following paragraph. honestly, I don't even know nor do I particularly care if anyone else finds the disclaimer to be mandatory these days. I just know that I certainly do find it mandatory ever since I've had to rely on fanfictions by other users on this site just to even find any inspiration. believe me, I've been looking for inspiration everywhere I could think of. OK, on with the disclaimer already.

disclamation: I don't own the 'Fruits Basket Another' manga series, except on paperback, that is. all rights for 'Fruits Basket' and its sequel series are due solely to Natsuki Takaya-sensei. I also don't own 'Xiaolin Showdown' in any way, shape, or form. all rights for that series and its beyond lousy reboot, 'Xiaolin Chronicles', are reserved solely for Christy Hui. I know, like the Fountain of Hui shen gong wu. if I, myself, were a gambler, I'd wager that she named that particular shen gong wu for herself. I also don't own the Halloween film 'Hocus Pocus' or its new sequel 'Hocus Pocus 2'. all ownership rights for the original are reserved for Disney Channel while the ownership rights for the sequel are reserved for Disney+.

One Halloween Morning in Old Japan one-hundred years before the present day, there were three witch sisters who terrorized the people of the municipality of Tokyo, Japan, whose shared family name was Hitsugaya. The three of them were legendary terrors in and around the parts of Tokyo, especially to the Sohma family's compound. That Halloween morning, the loveliest of the three witch sisters, Sayaka Hitsugaya, called forth her siren-like call to the children of Tokyo to hers and the other two witches' home just in the outskirts of even the area of Tokyo.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: Come, little children, I'll take thee away into a land of enchantment. Come, little children. The time's come to play, here in my garden of magic.

The recently built visitors' cottage in the Sohma compound was as quiet as could be except for the stirring of little Kyoko Sohma, the youngest of three siblings and the only daughter of Kyo and Tohru Sohma. Kyoko was named for her maternal grandmother who died when both of her parents were high school first years. It did not take long for Sayaka Hitsugaya to seduce little Kyoko Sohma's ears. The child went out of the safety of her parents' visitors' cottage to check out the sounds of this mysterious singing and then when it began to grow, Kyoko followed the music back to the witches' house.

Almost no one noticed when little Kyoko began to wander off. No one noticed except for one of Kyoko's brothers, Katsuya Sohma, who like his little sister was named after his deceased maternal grandfather, Katsuya Honda, who had died when his mother, Tohru Honda/Sohma, was but a little girl of three-years-old.

Katsuya Sohma: Kyoko? Kyoko! Where are you, Kyoko? I better go get Hajime and Sawa! They'll know what to do.

Hajime Sohma was Katsuya and Kyoko's own older brother who was already a high school graduate and now went to a distinguished and promising college. He still had a habit of lying down whenever it rained, though; just like their father, Kyo Sohma. Hajime had at least started to wear his glasses more frequently as he was in college.

As for Sawa, she was the trio of siblings' foster sister and was a high school third year at the time. It had been an entire year since Kyo and Tohru Sohma had taken Sawa into their end of the family and their custody because the girl's mother was a complete and total witch to her own daughter. When the ignorant manager and landladies of their shared apartment building finally saw the woman's true colors after so many years of regrettably letting her off consequence-free while giving the earful she was owed to her daughter, they had all called the police on Mrs. Mitoma for child abuse. Needless to say, the cops quickly came and arrested her for the way she treated her own daughter while raising her.

Kyo and his wife, Tohru, knew that it had been just like the way in which Kyo's biological father had treated his own son just before his mother had died when he was just a child of five years old. A man by the name of Kazuma Sohma had taken Kyo in when his father had pretty much disowned him, and Kyo decided to take Sawa under his and Tohru's wings to pay forward Master Kazuma Sohma's kindness to him.

Katsuya Sohma: Hajime! Hajime! Kyoko's gone off, and I don't know where she is!

Hajime Sohma, however, just wanted to stay asleep since the whole entire family was now finally back in Tokyo and welcome at the Sohma compound for the first time since they had originally left to live in the Japanese countryside just by the sea.

Hajime Sohma: Did you check mom and dad's room? She probably just had another nightmare and asked them if she could sleep with them again.

Katsuya Sohma: I also heard something in the distance of what sounded like the music of a siren's song.

With his younger brother, Katsuya's, mention of having heard the music of a siren's singing, Hajime finally awoke at last.

Hajime Sohma: Get mom and dad and everyone else from the Sohma compound and gather everyone to the witches' house. I'll go search for Kyoko. Hopefully, she's not gone to those witches' house.

Katsuya Sohma: Hopefully, onii-chan.

Hajime headed out of the house but did not put on his outdoor clothes as the eldest sibling in the family felt as though he did not possess the time to get properly dressed to search for his five-to-eight-year-old baby sister, Kyoko. It was just outside that he ran into Shiki Sohma and his girlfriend of three years older of whom Hajime had been a high school friend and a year later foster brother, Sawa Mitoma. She was in her sophomore year of college these days and was just two years younger than Hajime. For one reason or another when the two of them had met for the first time as high school students, Sawa had near instantly reminded Hajime slightly of his own mother, Tohru Sohma, from the way his father, Kyo Sohma, had described her when they were in their youth.

Shiki Sohma: Hajime? What are you doing outside, and not yet dressed for the day ahead?

Hajime Sohma: I didn't have the luxury of time to get dressed, I barely had time to get on a pair of shoes to protect my feet. I need to find Kyoko.

Sawa Mitoma: I wanna help search for Kyoko, and Shiki can help us look for our sister, too.

It was then that something else had suddenly come to mind for Sawa.

Sawa Mitoma (continued): Still... you probably won't want my help, though, Hajime-senpai. I know that I'm no good with helping others, even after working with you on the Kaibara High School student council. You'd probably be better off trusting Shiki and the other natural Sohma kids to helping you find Kyoko than me getting in your way... I just know you won't want my help.

Hajime Sohma: For the last time just so you can understand it, Mitoma-san, the only thing I could ever need from you is whatever you can provide for me. You should just do whatever you can to help me look for our sister.

Sawa Mitoma: But my mother always told me that I was the unlikable type.

Shiki Sohma: Those days are over, Sawa-chan.

Hajime Sohma: Shiki's right, Mitoma-san. I need you now to help me search for our kid sister in whichever way you possibly can.

It was then that another voice had joined all of them in their endeavor to find Kyoko Sohma.

Voice: I think that we should all split up if only to cover more ground.

That was when the three were joined by someone else... times at least five to ten. The voice was none other than Mutsuki Sohma, Hajime's closest friend in the Sohma family. Mutsuki was also joined by his own Sohma cousins through his father's brother, Ayame, under the names of Hibika and Chizuru Sohma, the twins belonging to Hatsuharu and Isuzu 'Rin' Sohma by the names of Sora and Riku, and even some of the youngest ones like Mina, Katsuya, Kanata, and even little Hikaru Sohma.

A/N: just in case any of the readers would be wondering exactly who Kanata and Hikaru are, they are simply a couple of 'Fruits Basket Another' OC's I made up specifically for this particular fanfiction. Kanata Sohma is the daughter of both Arisa Uotani and Kureno Sohma. Meanwhile, Hikaru Sohma is the son of Hiro and Kisa Sohma. I just felt it was only fair that they had a child of their own, too, since they actually met their special someones even in middle school. also, Hikaru Sohma is not to be confused with Hikari Anaishia 'Sohma' from my other fanfiction with the characters from the original 'Fruits Basket' under the title of 'A Catboy's First and Only Love'. the last letter in their names is different from one another and Hikari was a girl.

Kanata and Hikaru were friends of Kyoko Sohma's and were even her playmates on the Sohma Elementary School's own playground. There were even Mutsuki's non-Sohma cousins from his mother's side of his part of the family, Michi and Kou Manabe. Rio Mosca, the son of Tohru Sohma's high school friend, Saki Hanajima, was also there to help the others look for Kyoko Sohma.

Hajime Sohma: Katsuya, go back to the house and wake up mom and dad. The same goes for everyone else and their parents. Sawa, you search the Sohma Estate with Shiki once he's gotten his parents. I'll look for Kyoko off the estate.

Sawa Mitoma: Isn't that Kyoko right over there, now?

Sawa pointed towards the edge of the Sohma Estate, not realizing it was the edge of the Sohma Estate that was closest to the evil Hitsugaya witch sisters' house that they had moved onto Sohma land. Hajime, Katsuya and all the others looked in the direction in which Sawa was pointing.

Hajime Sohma: That's the edge of the estate near where the three Hitsugaya sisters moved onto the estate. Change of plans. Mitoma, join our brother, Katsuya, to wake up my mom and dad. The rest of you go and alert your parents about the Hitsugaya sisters drawing Kyoko in.

Shiki Sohma: What about you, Hajime? What're you gonna do?

Hajime Sohma: Try to stop the Hitsugaya witch sisters from turning little Kyoko into their brew.

Hajime was ready to go on his way when Mutsuki, Riku and Sora stopped him.

Mutsuki Sohma: Don't go! You'll get done in by them, too, Hajime.

Riku Sohma: He's right. Kyoko's done for by now, anyway.

Sora Sohma: We'll find a way to alert the adults to the Hitsugaya sisters taking Kyoko to their house.

Hajime was not willing to quit on his baby sister who still had her whole life ahead of her.

Hajime Sohma: Not yet Kyoko's not doomed! You all should be quick and get your parents. If I don't come back, Mutsuki, tell Mitoma to make sure to take care of Katsuya and our parents.

Hajime headed after Kyoko to the witches' house in the woods where they were indeed brewing up a potion to steal little Kyoko's life force. He made it through the forest against all of the scratchy tree branches and prickly bushes. When he finally made it to the Hitsugaya house, Hajime looked inside and saw Kyoko with the evil witches. Sakura Hitsugaya, the lead witch, along with the evilest and perhaps also the ugliest of the three sisters, was the one brewing up the potion. Sayaka Hitsugaya was the sister who had lured Kyoko to their house. Kotoko Hitsugaya, the most gluttonous for the children's life forces among the three of them, had managed to sniff out Hajime as he hid by their window.

Luckily, Hajime had managed to bank away from the window just in time to go over to the side of Hitsugaya sisters' house. Sakura went over to the window from which Kotoko had smelled Hajime to check on just who would probably have been over at their window. As Sakura went over to the window, Kotoko and Sayaka went to check by their door to where Hajime was originally hoping to go into the witches' house to collect Kyoko and take her back home.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Oh, look! Another glorious morning. Makes me sick to even be staying here!

That was when Sakura finally closed the window so as not to bring in anymore of the sun's rays.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Sisters!

Sayaka and Kotoko had gotten the message from their mutual sister.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: We're coming.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: We're on our way, Sakura. Right away. Sorry.

Kotoko pushed Sayaka aside on her way back inside.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Must've been a changeling!

The three witches quickly dropped the issue and went right back to their potion which they had prepared for little Kyoko Sohma.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): My darling!

Then, Sakura went up to a book.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): My little book. We must continue with the spell, now that our little guest of honor has arrived. Wake up. Wake up, darling.

The book revealed its eye and woke up to its mistress's request.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): There you are! Kotoko!

Kotoko approached her sister, Sakura.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Coming, Sakura. Coming. I noticed Sister Sayaka isn't helping.

Kotoko began to stir the potion together.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: I lured the child here.

Sakura pulled upon Kotoko's ear.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Leave her be. She's done her chore.

Sakura finally let go of Kotoko's ear just long enough for Kotoko to agree with Sakura.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: You're right. I'm wrong.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Right. It's time!

With those two words from Sakura's lips, her book flew open. It showed her the spell which she had desired to use on little Kyoko.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Here it is. Heat over a full burning fire and bring to a boiling bubble...

Meanwhile, Hajime simply climbed up onto the witches' water wheel, having seen no other way to get into their house. Then, he climbed into the second-floor's window and entered into the loft through it and waited there for the first chance he would get to save his baby sister, Kyoko. Back in the witches' house, Sakura was concentrating on her spell.

Sakura Hitsugaya: A dash of hair from my head and a piece of fox and a dead man's toe.

Sayaka, meanwhile, was reciting her sister's words and dancing around like an idiot.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: Dead man's toe! Dead man's toe. Dead man's toe. And a dead man's toe.

Kotoko got a fresh dead man's toe from their armoire and dropped it in, though not before sniffing it.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Fresh one.

It was then that Kotoko and Sayako began fighting with one another and throwing dead man's toes at each other. It was all fun and games until Kotoko missed Sayaka and threw a dead man's toe at Sakura by mistake.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Will you two stop that? I need to concentrate.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Yeah, sorry, Sakura. She needs to concentrate, Sayaka.

That was around the time that Kotoko started to get Hajime's scent from the loft of hers and her sisters' house. Hajime tried to hide from the witches, but Kotoko had a nose like a bloodhound for children.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Sakura, I-I smell a child.

Luckily for Hajime, Sakura did not buy into what her sister was telling her.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Eh, well, what do you even call that?!

Sakura pointed at little Kyoko Sohma while ridiculing Kotoko for what she believed was Kotoko stating the obvious.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: A child.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Gather around, sisters. One thing more needed to be done. Add a bit of our own tongues.

With Sakura's instructions, Sayaka, Kotoko, and Sakura, herself, each bit off a small piece of their own tongues and spat all three of the pieces into their cauldron. The potion began to boil very hard.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Oh, Sakura, you're so Devine.

Sakura Hitsugaya: The potion's finally ready for tasting. One taste of this and her lifeforce will be mine.

It was then that Sakura realized that she most likely sounded greedy to her sisters, so she corrected her own statement with...

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): I mean, ours.

Kotoko held out the giant potion spoon for Kyoko to taste it.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Alright, girl. Open up your mouth.

That was when Hajime yelled out a defiant 'NO!' and sprang into action against the witches who bore plans to steal his baby sister's life force. The witches turned around to face him.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: A boy!

Sakura Hitsugaya: Get him, you fools!

Kotoko Hitsugaya: I got him. I have got him, Sakura. I knew I'd smelt a boy!

Two of the three witches then chased Hajime around the cauldron. He managed to best Kotoko and Sayaka; neither of whom were very bright in the head. He had even managed to spill over the witches' cauldron.

Sakura Hitsugaya: My potion!

It was then that Hajime rushed to his baby sister, Kyoko's, rescue_

Hajime Sohma: Kyoko!

_ only to be zapped unconscious by Sakura. Unfortunately for both Hajime and Kyoko, the witches' spilt potion brew had managed to seep over to Kyoko just enough for the little girl's life force to be free for the witch sisters to take. Kotoko was the first to notice this.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Sakura, Sakura, look.

Sakura sighed with content.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Sisters, prepare yourselves. It's her life force. The potion worked. Take my hands. We will share her.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Oh, Sakura, how generous of you.

The witches all approached Kyoko and started sipping up Kyoko's life force the way adult mortals drank coffee. Hajime struggled to stop them from getting his sister's life force, but he could barely even stand up. By the time that Hajime could rise up far enough to stand even on his knees, it was far too late to stop the Hitsugaya sisters from getting his precious little sister's life force.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Sisters, behold!

The witches all turned around to face their collective reflections in the mirror.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: I am beautiful! Boys will love me!

Kotoko Hitsugaya: We're young!

It was true about Sayaka and Kotoko. Sakura, however, was not quite as appealing as the other two amongst her witch sisters. She even had a hand mirror, she was normally very proud of herself.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Oh, well, younger_ but, it's a start.

Kyoko's drained and lifeless body lay in the chair in which she sat when the witches drained her of her life force. The witches just danced around with their success next to Kyoko's lifeless body.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Oh, Sakura, you truly are a mere sprig of a girl.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Maybe I am, but I'll be a sprig forever once I suck the life out of all the children in Japan.

The witches then turned to Hajime, who was just starting to make it to his feet, and wanted to suck out his life force next.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Let's brew another batch!

Hajime, however, had something to say to the Hitsugaya witches.

Hajime Sohma: You hag! There aren't enough children in the world to make a creature like you young and beautiful!

Sakura Hitsugaya: Hag!

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Uh-oh!

Sakura Hitsugaya: Sisters, did you hear what he called you?

It was directed more at Sakura than at her sisters, though. He called Kotoko and Sayaka 'hags', too, but the comment was mostly directed at Sakura.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Whatever should we do with this little wretch?

Kotoko and Sayaka handed out their own suggestions to their sister, Sakura.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Let's barbeque and filet him.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: Hang him on a hook and let me play with him.

Sayaka reached out for Hajime for that purpose.

Sakura Hitsugaya: NO! Book, darling, come to oka-san.

Sakura's spell book flew over to her arms.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): His punishment must be more fulsome... more lingering. Dazzle me, my darling.

Sakura's spell book flew open with suggestions.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Let's see. Amnesia, bunions, chilblains, cholera. We can do better than that, I think. Let's see what we have.

Sakura turned the page to read further in her spell book. That was when she found something with which she seemed to want to punish Hajime when she gasped.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Perfect!

That was when Sakura closed her spell book.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): As usual, his punishment won't be to die...

Sayaka Hitsugaya: No?

Kotoko Hitsugaya: It won't?

Sakura Hitsugaya:... but to live forever with his guilt.

A/N: ah, the perfect punishment for an offender who actually wishes to die.

Kotoko and Sayaka Hitsugaya: As what, Sakura? As what?

Sakura Hitsugaya: Jump back!

Kotoko and Sayaka scooted back from their spots next to their sister, Sakura.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Twist the bones and bend the back.

That was when Sayaka and Kotoko began helping Sakura out with her punishment for Hajime by scatting the mystical chant for the spell she was casting on him.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Trim him of his baby fat.

Sayaka and Kotoko continued scatting their chant.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): Give him fur black as black just_

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Like_

Sayaka Hitsugaya: This!

It was then that Hajime started to take on a different form with the witches' spell chanting, and a pitch-black cat had appeared where Hajime Sohma had been previously. It may have looked like a witch's cat, but this little kitty did not like Sakura, Sayaka, or Kotoko Hitsugaya one bit. Sayaka learnt this the hard way when the black cat almost scratched her when she tried to pet it.

Then, there was a banging on the walls from all around the witches' house, and a shouting could be heard.

Voices: Open up! Witches! Daughters of Darkness, open these doors right now!

Sakura Hitsugaya: Hide the child!

Kotoko hid Kyoko's lifeless body underneath a tablecloth.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Witches! There are no witches here!

Sakura walked over to the door to block the Sohmas and the rest of Tokyo from getting into their house.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Don't get your panties in a twist! We are three kindly, old spinster ladies.

Kotoko Hitsugaya: Spending a quiet evening at home.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: Sucking the lives out of little children!

That was when Sakura and Kotoko started choking Sayaka by the throat. The people of Tokyo broke down the witches' door, anyway, and all three of them were led to the gallows where Kyo and Tohru Sohma, along with their only remaining children, Sawa and Katsuya, stepped forward to question the witches about Hajime's whereabouts after Akito Sohma, her son, Shiki, discovered Kyoko's lifeless body hidden in the witches' house under a tablecloth.

Tohru Sohma: Sakura Hitsugaya...

Sakura Hitsugaya: Yes?

Tohru Sohma: I'm only asking you one more time.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Yes?

Tohru Sohma: What've you done with our eldest son, Hajime?

Sakura Hitsugaya: Hajime, hmm?

Kyo Sohma: Answer my wife, you wench!

Sakura Hitsugaya: Well, I don't know. Cat's got my tongue.

Sakura, Kotoko, and Sayaka just chuckled up a storm at Sakura's joke to the Sohmas and all of the other residents of Tokyo. Meanwhile, the same black cat as the one that was found in the Hitsugaya house was also hissing at Sakura's bad joke.

Sayaka Hitsugaya: Listen. This certainly is really uncomfortable.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Sisters, sing.

Sakura, Sayaka, and Kotoko all began their singing by harmonizing. Then, they began to chant something or other.

Akito Sohma: Don't listen to them, Shiki!

Tohru Sohma: Don't listen to them, you two!

Kyo Sohma: Don't listen to their singing, anyone!

Katsuya covered his own ears but forgot that he was the one holding Sakura's spell book and dropped it to the ground. The spell book opened and summoned a curse for Sakura to use against the people of Tokyo.

Sakura Hitsugaya: Fools, all of you. My ungodly book speaks to you now. On a night of All Hallows' Eve when the moon is round, a virgin will summon us from under the ground.

The three witches began chuckling about at the curse that Sakura had placed upon the neighborhood.

Sakura Hitsugaya (continued): We'll be back, and the lives of all your children will be mine.

With that, Akito gave the signal for Hatsuharu Sohma, who was the executioner for this hanging, to finally hang the Hitsugaya sisters as she and the rest of them all had had enough of them. And so, they were hanged. The citizens of Tokyo all headed back to their homes. Kyo and Tohru collected their only remaining child, Katsuya, and headed back to their final home in the Sohma compound. That was when the cat which was discovered in the Hitsugaya house made its way to the only Sohma left on the site, Akito, Shiki's mother and the present head of the family. It just meowed and rubbed itself against her legs, but she would not have any of it.

Akito Sohma: Go away! Go away, beastie!

Afterwards, the cat went back to its perch from where it had watched the witches be hanged.
