A man is suffering in the dark alleyway of Laguna's capital city, in the shadows, he lies on his belly. With a fatal wound in his back, he bleeds, the pain is sharp and the world man starts to spin, he feels sleepy like his final breath wants to escape his mouth, the only thing the dying man thinks.
(Subaru) - Why did she lie about her name, why…
The man did not understand why this happen, it was going well, he wanted to help this "Satella" woman, but sadly he was killed by the mysterious woman in black. He was scared, he did not want to die, not again, each time he died the more pain he suffered. His body screamed at him to not suffer this again. He hoped this fantasy world would shower him with power, woman but instead, it only gave him pain. Pain and suffering, he was scared. He started to feel his soul returning to the abyss. But this fate had something more. Suddenly he felt a warmth, the pain started to fade away. Why he did not know, is he died, again. Is he returning to the circle of life and death? Or someone is saving his life with healing magic? he did not know. But before he can say something the world became black as the abyss and he lost conciseness.
(some time has passed)
The sound of water drops and rat noises disturbed a sleeping man. He felt a bit chilly. A heavy dust air lingered in the room, with a smell of rust and wood. The man opened his eyes. He started looking around the room, at it seems he was in some kind of cellar. It had many different barrels and boxes. Old fancy-looking furniture and some empty bottles. He was lying on an old mattress.
(Subaru) - Awww my back? (the man grabbed the place where he was stabbed, he did not feel pain but a bit of numbness.
(?) - So you're finally awake?
With sleepiness in his voice, Subaru turns his head to the location of the sound, his eyes are blinded by a tiny spit of light coming from above. His eyes adjusted to the light, and he was surprised. before him on a staircase stood a woman, who wore a maid Caffe looking dress her short blue hair stud out the most with one eye covered by the hair. (so maids exist in this world)
(?) - You are in Lord's Mather's vine basement brother.
(Subaru) - Wait, a basement? Ar you kidnap me or something? (he starts waving his hands in a panic.
(?) - Of course not, I only dragged you here because you are gifted with such a wonderful scent. You are truly loved. (She closes her eyes and hugs herself with happiness)
(Subaru) - Wait? Do I stink of something? And (he felt his back) Wait there's no wound. Did you heal me?
(?) - Yes brother I did, and what do you mean stink? I feel you are confused, rest now, and it would be best if you don't make too many sounds the world does not like our kind.
(Subaru) - Wait, where are you going? (the maid started to walk away but she turn to listen to the scared man, her blue eye looking at him sharply.
(?) - Sorry loved one, I need to get back to work, don't worry I will bring you some food, and later we can discuss your situation.
(Subaru) - What is your name?
(?) - It's Rem, just Rem, I will see you later.
(Subaru) - Thanks, for healing me, hey wait… where are you going, wait…
The strange maid only looked at him with a small smile and a finger on her lips. Signaling Subaru to be quiet.
(Rem) - All the questions you have all be answered believer in Love. Wait for me.
She close the door, then Subaru heard a locking sound.
Inside of his mind, a man started to panic, this woman gave him some weird vibes.
(Subaru) - What the hell is going on, she says I am not kidnapped but imprisoned in this creepy place and what's the deal with brother talk, I don't have a sister. I need to get the hell out of here.
Subaru looked around one more time, the room was small. With no windows. He tried pushing some boxes to find any way to escape, but sadly he was too weak to push them. He felt like screaming, but he quickly decided to not do that, what if she hurt him if he does? And hell knows where he is now.
(Subaru) - This is just great, first, I got myself killed by a psycho and now I am kidnapped by a different one. This sucks. (Small tears started to form in his eyes)
Subaru felt hopeless, and a couple of tears ran down his face. This is even worse than being a shut-in. the only thing he can do was curl into a ball and fell asleep.
(3 Days ago back in the city)
In Ol Laguna in the stony streets of the city. A dragon carriage is going it's the way by a busy street.
(Rem) - Miss Emilia we will be drawing at the destination soon.
The carriage stops by a big white building with guards standing by the entrance. The half-elf steps from the carriage.
(Emilia) - Now Rem please wait for me in the location we discussed, This will not take long.
(Rem) - As you wish, I wish you good luck.
The half-elf entered the building. And the maid started to move to the location. It was near a dark alleyway next to an old brick bridge. The maid was sitting in the driving seat and seem to be bored, she try her best not to go to sleep, only the noisy street keep her awake.
(Rem) - It has already been 4hours, what does that half-elf even do this long? I hope she did not involve herself in some kind of drama, Miss Emilia tends to take her time with other people's problems. Even if she knows only my brothers and sisters can tolerate her, speaking about that Guse better not find her existence. I fear what would happen.
The maid patted the red ground dragon. And then looked at the sky.
(Rem) - It's getting dark, I better start searching for my lady. If something happened to her Master Rosswald would not be pleased.
The demon maid jumped from the carriage and started walking past the shady streets. As she does she tries to find her scent, but sadly nothing is picked up. She decided to focus more, but suddenly her eyes wide open. She felt a smell, so much familiar that she froze in place.
(Rem) - It can't be
Suddenly the maid forgot everything and started running. She needed to find the one it came from. Her heart started pounding even faster, as the scent became stronger.
(Thug I) - You stab him, what the hell dude?
(Thug II) - Forget him just run, something is coming this way, if the guard finds us we will be in so much trouble.
The thugs ran away leaving a man near his death. Rem felt that the sent was radiating from him, she can't help herself only to smile, this sent was not of a lowly brother, but something greater. She stands still in the middle of the dark alleyway looking at the dying man. She knows it's forbidden, but at that moment she dosing care, she summons her beloved book. She opens the last page, and her eyes start searching for a specific line, and suddenly new lines start to appear. She started to tear up by the new guidance. Finally after so long she finally found him, the loved one. The one that SHE promised her so long ago, after that dreadful day.
She closed the book and rush to the raven-haired one. To her relief, the man was still alive. She pulled the dagger from his back and healed the wound. She knows this will not be enough to heal him fully, still. The man lost consciousness. She grabs him and starts carrying him like a bag of potatoes on her shoulder. She knows she needs to be fast but how to fix this fast? It's good she remembered that one of her brothers is infiltrating merchant guild traders and has its wear not so far from the location.
She starts running again with a man in hand. Finally, she reaches her destination. A fat man was carrying crates that he loaded into his carriage, the crates were full of corn-looking plants. He spotted the maid.
(Merchant) - We are closed for today, please come tomorrow.
(Rem) - Is that so Jhon, sadly I need your help.
The fat merchant looked at her with a surprised look on his face, but suddenly his eyes darted to what Rem was carrying in her hands. Jhon was lost in that, with a little fear in his words.
(Jhon) - Big Sis Rem, what business do you have with me, and is that what I think it is?
(Rem) - Yes brother, I can't believe we finally found him.
Now the merchant was smiling still and could not help the small amount of fear creep into his voice.
(Jhon) - What Joy, Bishop will be overjoyed.
(Rem) - NO, Guse doesn't need to know about him just yet.
(Jhon) - But why Sis, this is big news we finally found Pride.
(Rem) - I know, but he is wounded and my healing skill was not sufficient. I need you to take him to the mansion and ask for Lady Beatrice's help and don't tell the living soul about him yet, I trust you the most. You did good to keep my selection about the half-elf, but please keep this one too. In time we will inform him, but the time is not now.
(Jhon) - As much as I don't like it, Fine but promise me Oni that the bishop will know too about him in 3 months, that's the best time I can give you.
(Rem) - As you wish, now go.
(Jhon) - Okay, Okay my cart is going to leave anyway. And how the hell I suppose to find that spirit Woman her crossing ability is beyond annoying.
(Rem) - It's okay Jhon, give her this and she will listen and now she is on the second-floor door 46.
the Oni gave the man an envelope. He looked at her blue eyes took the letter and went to his carriage. He looked back at her and drove away.
Rem was standing with a book in hand close to her heart. She was full of joy. Finally, the promise SHE made to her was starting to become a reality.
