My second ever story to my multiverse saga is here. Welcome to The Omnitrix and the Umbral Star! As I stated in a chapter of Imagine Breaker and his Foxy Caster(Rebirth) this story will run parallel with the aforementioned and encompasses the Ben 10 series. Our favorite wiggly civilization will be the main girl, I mean come on she's technically an alien!

Ben 10 and Fate belong to Nasu and Man of Action Studios Respectively. Onto the story!

Chapter 1: A Fateful Meeting

Long ago in the year 12000BC the Earth was filled with mystery, gods and phantasmal beasts roamed and mankind was in its earliest stages of civilization, the air was rich with mana, this period of time was known as the Age of Gods.

However, all eras must come to an end and the Age of Gods was no exception, it all started when an ancient race of extra dimensional beings known as the Velber, sent two cells to the planet, the Velber were known to wipe sentient life from the galaxy every thousands of years.

The two cells that made their way to Earth were called Velber 01, Velber 02 and Velber 03, it was unknown what happened to Velber 01, or 03 but the most infamous one, Velber 02 would leave a significant mark on history.

Velber 02 was also known as the Great God Sefar. Upon making planetfall Sefar would manifest into a monstrous white titan, whose very presence would scorch the very surface around it, it could only be described as a walking apocalypse.

The White Titan destroyed everything where ever it walked and grew larger as it destroyed the earliest civilizations including the legendary Atlantis.

The gods would attempt to fight the titan only to be vanquished against its might, the twelve alien machine gods who would go on to become the twelve Olympian gods of Greek/Roman myth were a prime example. Mars would be the greatest foe Sefar ever fought and upon defeating him would claim his sword, Photon Ray as a trophy of war, the will of the planet, Gaia needed a new defense system to defeat this threat, it would command nine Fae clans to forge a holy sword from the planets core, and be granted to an unknown human warrior, who upon unleashing a blast of super heated light would split the titan in two.

This invasion, would signal the beginning of the end of the Age of Gods, over a period of time the remains of Sefar would be affected by Gaia, being reconstructed into a human girl, said girl would be found by a tribe known as the Huns, who take notice of the peculiar markings on her body, she would go on to become one of the most frightening figures in human history, known to strike fear into ancient Europe, Attila the Hun, her fame would allow her upon death to ascend to an afterlife realm known as the Throne of Heroes.

Within the realm in which souls of departed legends were inscribed, an unknown anomaly from real space caused a massive eruption of mana throughout countless timelines powerful enough to break into the metaphysical, including the throne, it proceeded to envelop a soul through a vortex and send it hurtling through an unknown expanse, this soul was Attila the Hun, or Altera as she be preferred to be called.

Altera found her form beginning to change getting smaller then her normal size, along with that her own body started to feel much more alive as she was shot forth, soon enough she was then engulfed by a bright light.

Earth:

In a recreation camp site surrounded by heavy forestry during the night was a rustic RV, it carried three occupants inside that were on a summer vacation, the driver was an old man named Max Tennyson, and with him were his two grandchildren named Gwen and Ben Tennyson, Ben being short for Benjamin of course.

It was night time as Ben and Gwen seated themselves at a nearby table when Grandpa Max came up with a bowl of food. If it can even be called that.

"Chow time!" Max said as he placed the bowl in front of them.

Ben and Gwen both looked at the meal in confusion and disgust since by all means, it was wiggling.

"Ok, I give up. What is that?" Ben asks.

"Marinated meal worms. Hard to find fresh in the states, although they're considered a delicacy in some countries." Max explained with a smile.

"And totally gross in others." Gwen said as she saw a worm fall on the table making her flinch a bit as it proceeded to crawl away.

"If these don't sound good, I've got some smoked sheep's tongue in the fridge." Said Max.

"Uuu, couldn't we just have a burger or something?" Ben asked hopeful as his cousin nodded in agreement.

"Nonsense, this summer's gonna be an adventure for both your taste buds. I'll grab the tongue." Max replied joyously as he proceeded to go back into the RV he named the Rustbucket to grab the item in question.

"Ok, I've got a half eaten bag of corn chips and a candy bar in my backpack, what do you got?" Ben whispered to Gwen.

"Got rice cakes and hard cakes." Gwen replied.

"Think we can make them last the whole summer?"

The two proceeded to sigh in contemplation about how this wasn't gonna be that great of a vacation. Meanwhile in the deep reaches of space, two events were occurring. One was a chase between what appeared to be alien spacecraft, one smaller then the titanic sized one attacking it.

The smaller craft sent a green lightning like blast at the larger aggressor, and exploded into what appeared to be the bridge. The bigger craft launched its own attack and took out a huge chunk of the smaller ship. Part of the doomed vessel opened up to launch what seemed like a pod of some sorts before disconnecting to reveal a metal sphere within as it hurled towards earth.

Around the same time in another part of space a massive wormhole of sorts opened up. It pulsated with mass amounts of energy as an object shot out of the center at high speeds making headway to the same planet.

Back on the surface, at the campsite Max walked over to his grandchildren only to see them playing on their electronics, Ben was playing his handheld game while Gwen was on her laptop.

"Who wants to roast marshmallows?" Max asked in a show of excitement only to not receive and answer.

"Ok, how about we tell scary stories?"

"Scarier then having to spend a summer with your freak of a cousin. Ahahaha!" Ben mocked as he looked back towards Gwen.

"I'd like to grandpa but right now I'm doing a web search on cures for extreme doofus ness, nothing at Ben but let's not give up hope." Gwen shot back.

"Oh come on you two, we're all in this together. You can mope around like this all summer, or you can have some fun. What do you say?" Max asked hoping to correct the situation.

"I vote for moping." Gwen answered quickly.

"I'm gonna take a walk, smell you around." Ben said as he walked off.

"*Sigh*...I think they're starting to grow on each other." Max said in a somber tone.

Meanwhile Ben was strolling through the woodwork hands in his pockets as he sulked about his current state of affairs.

"Aw man this is gonna be the worst vacation ever. I might as well have gone to summer school."

He was broken out of his musings when he noticed two objects in the sky, one was falling towards earth while the other was streaking by.

"Woah! Shooting stars!" Ben said in amazement.

However, he would be in for a big surprise as right before the two objects appeared as though they would collide, the one moving across the sky redirected somehow now falling side by side with the other object. Both were heading straight for Ben.

"*Gasp!!*...AAAAAHHH!!!"

Ben ran as both objects made impact in great flashes of light.

As the smoke cleared the young boy was witness to two craters, one had a round glowing object in it while the other had. Well. What was it?

He decided to check the crater with the round object last as he went to the one with whatever had crashed in it.

As he got close and the dust cleared he would be in total awe of what he would find.

"No way...it's...it's a girl!"

The girl in question looked to be about his age, and she was of tan skin with what appeared to be strange tribal markings adorning her body all the way down to her legs. Black cut off leggings around the calfs, her outfit was mostly white with some black and red on it that appeared to be held together by a large matching ribbon on her back, though around the chest area was a rainbow of sorts, and she wore the oddest set of red shoes on her feet. Her hair was white but it looked strangely like a veil going down her back most of the way with markings on it too. Her forehead had a diamond shape on it that had different color layers going outside in.

Ben was completely slack jawed at such an odd looking sight. She appeared human but her traits screamed unnatural to even him. However despite the oddity surrounding this girl he also thought one thing.

'She's...really cute."

He then heard a groaning noise as the girl appeared to be waking up to his surprise. He began to slowly approach her.

Altera felt dizzy. She blacked out after being absorbed through that anomaly that sucked her from the Throne of Heroes, she found her self regaining consciousness as she opened her eyes slightly, blinking away the blur in her vision.

Ben got a good look at the color of her eyes as she began to open them, they were ruby red and had something of a shine to them. He found himself transfixed as he began to reach for the girl, and just as he was about to touch her eyes shot open immediately and on reflex grabbed Ben's wrist to his shock before flipping him onto the ground.

"Ow! Hey what was that for!" Ben shouted as he rubbed his back while glaring at her.

Altera only looked at him with suspicion, but for Ben he saw her expression was mostly stoic. Ben stood up as the two studied one another. He felt hostility radiating from the girl and slowly put his hands up.

"Woah, hey, look I'm not gonna hurt you, my name is Ben Tennyson, what's yours?"

It was quiet as he waited for a response. He began to shift nervously.

"Altera." The girl spoke.

"Altera? That name sounds...so cool!" Ben said in excitement as Alter looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"That name sounds so sci-fi! It helps that you fell from space I guess. Wait, how did you fall from space anyway?" Ben asked letting his confusion show.

Altera shrugged as she didn't have a clear answer herself.

"Oh well, it probably doesn't matter. Hey you want to check out the other crater with me? Something else crashed here too."

Ben proceeded to go to the other crater while Altera followed behind out of curiosity. Upon looking in the duo spotted a round metallic object sitting dead in the center.

"Looks like a satellite or something." Ben said.

The ground suddenly crumbled below him and Altera sending them sprawling down into the crater itself. They stood up to look at the metal sphere as it opened up to reveal a watch within it. It was black with gray lining and the face plate glowed an ominous green showing an hourglass symbol of sorts.

"First a mysterious girl? Now watches are falling from outer space?" Ben asks to himself as Altera eyed the object wearily.

The green glow was more prominent as Ben reached for the watch and to his alarm the watch almost anamorphically opened up and jumped onto his wrist immediately attaching itself to him causing him to freak out.

"Ah! Get off me! Get off me! GET OFF!!"

As Ben panicked trying to shake the watch off Altera rushed to his side and immediately began to pull on the watch in an attempt to help him, however it seemed as the watch was completely latched on as every pull showed it stuck onto him, she didn't take her strength into account however as it was hurting Ben with every pull.

"OWOWOW!! Altera stop you might rip my whole arm off! Jeez what kind strength do you have!!?"

Ben proceeded to climb out of the crater and run with Altera following behind.

"Grandpa!"

"Hm. Ben's been gone awhile, well, I guess he can't get into too much trouble out here." Max said with a bit of worry as he continues to look in the direction Ben left in.

"Unless he wound up bear food." Gwen said earning a frown from her grandfather.

"I can dream can't I." She continued uncaring.

As the banter played out Ben was trying to remove the mysterious watch using a twig.

"You know that's not gonna work." Altera said bluntly.

"Hey! Guys gotta try all his options you know." Ben said in frustration.

He then knelt down and decided to fiddle with the watch for a bit. Altera looked on with interest as the face plate popped up, the device being ever more interesting. The two of them shared a look as Ben then looked around for any onlookers before he decided to push down on the face plate, as it showed the silhouette of a strange figure.

"Cool!"

Upon pushing down with his finger a bright green flash happened, Altera shielded her eyes for a bit until the light died and looked over at where Ben was, or more specifically where something other than Ben was standing as her eyes widened slightly.

"Ben?"

In Ben's place was a tall red rocky humanoid that appeared to be completely on fire, the face plate of the watch was no longer on his wrist but on his chest instead and was white in color instead of green.

"AAAAAAHHHHH." The creature screamed in a gruff like voice.

"I'm on fire! I'm on fire! AAAAHHH!!"

Ben panicked as he ran around, which was normal considering one finds themselves laden with flames across their whole body.

"Ben calm down!" Altera called out as she ran her way over to him.

Ben ceased his running as he began to soak in his situation further.

"Hey...I'm on fire, and I'm ok. Check it out. I'm totally hot! Hahahahaha!"

As he laughed at his own pun Altera ran up to him and kicked him in the stomach area making sprawl on his back.

"Hey! What was that for!?" Ben shouted indignantly.

"That pun was bad civilization." Altera simply said.

"Bad civilization? Wha?" Ben said completely confused, this girl was getting odder by the minute.

Shaking it off for now he stood up and gained a roguish smile as he glanced at a tree. He faced the tree and went into a wide stance. Altera quickly registered what he intended and spoke up.

"If you're about to do what think it is I highly advise against it."

"Jeez now your starting to be more like my freak cousin, relax I got this under control."

He held out his right hand and pointed his index finger toward the tree in the shape of a gun.

"Here goes..."

He discharged a fireball from his fingertip which blasted the tree trunk putting a smoking hole in it.

"Now that's what I'm talking about."

He put his hands together and formed a bowling ball sized fireball.

"Liking it."

"Ben seriously you're gonna..."

Before Altera could finish Ben who was so caught up in the moment of his new abilities threw the fireball behind him witch went through three trees. But the end result was those three trees bursting aflame.

"You damn fool." Altera muttered to herself.

Ben's hollow sockets went wide as he bore witness to what he had done.

"Wait! Stop!"

Naturally the fire didn't listen to him as the flames spread from tree to tree.

"Oh I am so busted for this." Ben muttered to himself.

A few flaming trees began to collapse causing the duo to dodge around them.

"This would be so cool if it wasn't so, not cool."

"You should have headed my warning you idiot, and if this is your definition of 'cool' then than cool is bad civilization!" Altera shouted.

"Ok. Question. What do you mean when you say bad civilization, we're nowhere near any major civilization if you're aware!" Ben yelled back wanting to know this girls strange speech.

Just then coming out of the clearing with a fire extinguisher in hand was Gwen, she was immediately sniffing out flames and accidentally shot Ben in his fire creature form making him yelp.

"AAAAAHHH!!!!" She screamed and then took note of Altera nearby, she wasn't to worried about her strange appearance as she was of being attacked by this thing.

"Look, I know I look weird, but there's no reason to be scared."

Gwen jumped and smacked the but end of they fire extinguisher into Ben's face making him careen back.

"Hey get out of here! Our camper is back that way, I'll hold this thing off." Gwen yelled to Altera who looked on with confusion.

Gwen hit Ben with more foam much to his annoyance and sat up as his head reignited.

"I don't know what you are, but you'll stay down if you know what's good for you!"

Ben grinned as he pointed at Gwen's feet and lit her shoes on fire making her panic.

"Don't even think about freak."

"Ben? Is that you? What happened to you and who's the girl over there?" Gwen said in surprise recognition.

Ben quickly summarized the situation, and Gwen was confused and more questions arose in her head, especially regarding the girl know as Altera.

"Gwen!" Shouted the voice of Max as he made his way over.

"Are you alr...what in blazes?"

"Hey grandpa. Guess who?"

"It's me grandpa." Ben greeted waving his hand.

"Ben? What happened to you?"

He then noticed Altera walk up bringing more questions.

"Who's the young lady right here?"

Once more Ben summarizes the situation, Max considers Altera for a moment but before a repeat explanation can occur Gwen cut in.

"Um excuse me, major forest fire happening over here!"

"What do we do?" Ben asked.

Max looked at the fire with a thoughtful expression, he then looked at Ben and answered.

"Backfire. Start a new fire and let burn into the old fire. The flames should snuff each other out. Think you can do it Ben?"

"Shooting flames, I can definitely do that."

Everyone watched as Ben went up to a section of unburnt woods and fired a stream blast creating a second forest fire, the flames came into contact and began to dissipate from the lack of oxygen.

Meanwhile in the breach of space on the giant but damaged warship, floating in a preservative chamber filled with liquid a octopus humanoid of some sort, and it was missing a couple of limbs.

"The Omnitrix must not fall out of grasp, find it at all costs." The being rasped.

"My lord, we also picked up a powerful energy reading on that backwater planet called earth, it crashed from the stars as well, would it be worth investigating?" Said one of the subordinates.

"The Omnitrix is the biggest soul priority! However if you do find out what ever else you detected then perhaps it can be of some use."

Sometime after the Tennyson family alongside Altera were sitting at a campfire, Ben was still in his fire monster form sitting on one side with the mysterious girl sitting next to him.

"I find it crazy that a watch that can turn my doofus cousin into a fire monster and a weird girl suddenly appeared from outer space of all places." Gwen said.

"As much as I would like to address the situation regarding young Altera here, I want to point out first and foremost how irresponsible it was of you to play with something beyond your knowledge Ben."

"Awe come on grandpa when does anyone get the chance to play with fire and not get burned."

"I tried to warn him but this doofus as you called him didn't listen." Altera said.

"Sounds just like Ben." Gwen agreed.

"Come on Altera, we're friends right?" Ben said in protest of the tag team against him.

"I hardly know you but in the short time that I got too I know that you hardly think."

Hearing that stabbed into Ben like bullet, it was even more embarrassing since it was coming from an exotically cute girl.

A beeping sound occurred and all of them looked at Ben as he glowed green and was reverted back to human.

"Well we'll have to figure all of this out at a later time, I suggest we head to bed, we'll be out of here in the morning, feel free to stay with us in the meantime Altera." Max said seriously to the disturbing feeling between Ben and Gwen while Altera stayed quiet.

AN: and this is the beginning of Altera's journey in the Ben 10 verse, fun fact, the idea of kid Altera meeting young Ben is what inspired the childhood friend idea for Imagine Breaker and his Foxy Caster(Rebirth). Doesn't change the concept for here though, so now we have shed light on what the third member of the legendary Extella Trio is up to! Let me know what you think, and I will see you in the next chapter!
