Chapter One Only us now

Lori could not help herself right now, no matter how much she wants to shut her eyes close, for the life of her, she won't stop staring at those doors, she had no idea how long she had been sitting in the waiting room, or what the time was, she could look at her phone, but she was to scared from looking away from those doors. but finally she made herself look away from those damm doors, turning on her phone, the phones screen flashing light at her, somehow this damm thing had survived the crash...but not them, she had to stop herself from shedding more tears, he needed her now, now more then ever, and she needed him now, now more then ever before.

"Please Lincoln... please make it through this, God please let him make it, i...i can't go on alone, not without him, he is all that i have now"

The dam finally busted open and the waterworks flooded out, Lori fell from her chair and onto her knees, her sobbing was the only sound that could be heard in the empty room, how could all of this happend to her? to her family, one moment they all been sitting in the Vanzilla on they way to Dairyland, it was just a perfect day for family fun, she even got the sweet spot...that turned out to be the only reason why she's even still alive, she could still not get that images out of her mind...no matter how much she wanted to.

Flashback

Lori toke a break from texting her friends and looked around the car, Leni was reading a fashion magazine not really understanding it. Lana and Lola were playing some game together, as always coming close to a fight. Lisa was just counting to herself. Lucy was reading a scary stories book typical, little Lily was napping, being held by Rita, who was sitting up front with Lynn sr who was driving the car. Luna was listening to music, again typical. Luan was telling bad jokes to herself. and Lynn was just playing with a tennis ball. and that leaves Lincoln, who was reading a comic book, cute and quirky, adorkable.

Lori let out a small sigh, she had just turned eighteen last week, she was both excited and scared, excited for her adult life to begin, and scared to move away from her family and move into the big city, to go to the same college as bobby and live with him, she won't admit it, but she was gonna miss them all so much, it almost made her cry thinking about it, but she stoped that train of thought before it got out of hand, today was gonna be a good day with her family! and her and bobby still had alot to plan before any of that stuff came, she still had alot of time with her family, and she was gonna enjoy every moment of it!

How wrong she was, because a speeding car out of control was heading right towards them, and before Lynn sr could even react in time, the out of control car slammed into the Vanzilla sending the car flying and making it do all kinds of twist and turns, before the car finally came to an stop when it smash into an abandoned building.

When everything finally came to a halt, and the world stopped spinning, Lori tried to move her body, but discovered that she was aching all over, but managed to sit up straight, when she open her eyes, her whole world came crashing down, all she saw around her was blood... a alot of it, and when she looked around the car, she let out a spirited crushing scream, Her dad's skull was crushed in, his one good eye was frozen in terror, and mom's eyes were full of broken glass pieces, none of them were moving, they bodies were just laying over the car interior.

"Oh my God Lily!" and when Lori saw her little baby sister's small mangled body laying on the feet of her mother, she lost it and threw up all over herself, when she was done throwing up everything that her stomach contains, and stopped the coughing, she once again tried to look around, key word tried.

Lucy's neck had been snappe in half, and her head was facing the wrong direction, only thanks to the car's seatbelt was she still sitting up. Lisa's throat had been completely cut across, her eyes staring at the ceiling of the car, empty of life. Leni's corpse laying over it self, a piece of metel had penetrated her skull thru her eye. next was Lana and Lola, they bodies were mangled together in the most horrified union she had ever seen, they were there for each other...in life and in death. Luan had suffered the same fate as Leni, but instead thru her forehead, her face frozen in horror, her body laying half to the side, being only held back to the car seat thanks to her seatbelt.

And finally she came to the end of the horror show she was being forced to watch, with the final three, both Lynn and Luna's bodies were twisted and horrible to look at, and Lincoln was sitting right in the middle covered in blood, it looked like Lynn and Luna had use they own bodies to shield him, big sisters to the end, none of them where moving either.

More tears began to fall down from her eyes, she was biting the inside of her cheeks, her body began to shake uncontrollably, she let out a howl of pain and misery, hitting the seat in front of her with all of her might, the crying never stopping for a minute, her world had just ended right in front of her, everything she had ever loved was just gone, when her rage died down and all there was left was sadness, she hugged herself tight, trying to imagine that everything was okay, that her family was still alive, that they were all safe and sound back at home, Lincoln reading comic books in his underwear. Leni was designing some new fashion clothing line. Luna playing her guitar. Luan pulling pranks on the family. Lynn playing tug of war with their dog charles. Lucy Reciting somekind of poetry. Lana and Lola fighting over something stupid again. Lisa solving math equations and other needy stuff. Lily just being a cute little baby. mom and dad making dinner for the whole family, the world just being perfect.

But she was pull back from her fantasy world by a voice.

"S...sweetie is that you?" Lori's eyes lit up like a lightning bolt. "M...mom!" Lori quickly unclipped her seatbelt and crawled up to her mother and grabed her hand. "I'm here mom! how are you? can you move?" lori saw her mother struggling, trying to move her body, alas she could not make it move, "B...baby are you okay? hows your father? is he okay?" Lori slowly looked away from her. "Mom i'm okay!, but...d...dad h...he is g...gone mom" Lori tired her hardest to not cry anymore, but it was a losing battle. when she looked back at her's mother face, all she saw on her face was pain, as tears and blood fell from her destroyed eye sockets. "Oh m...my sweet Lynn!" She cried out, but quickly forcus on another question, one that Lori feared to answer. "And my babies? are all they others safe b...baby!" But as her mother was talking she began to cough blood up. Lori began to shake unable to answer that horrible question. "Lori a...awswer me!" She tried to yell griping hard on her hand. "Y...y...yes they are fine mom don't worry" she lied to her. Lori did not know why she lied to her mother about something like this... maybe because she could not face the truth herself? but deep down she knew, her mom was not long for this world, and she could not make herself tell the horrible truth to her, not in her last moments in this world.

"Oh thank god" Her mother let out, an small smile on her blood covered face, but she started to cough more blood up, and even coughed some on Lori as she was trying to hold on to her. "L...listen to me sweetie okay? I...i'm not gonna last much longer now." Lori held onto her, shaking her head, "no! you are gonna make it mom! just hold on a little longer please!" Lori lied to herself and she knew it. she felt her mothers hand trying to find where her face was, guiding her mothers hand when it needs to be, her mother began to rub her cheek slowly. "I...i'm so proud of you Lori, everyday you made me so proud to call you my daughter, you are so beautiful and amazing and i could go on and on, but what i'm about to ask you is the hardest thing i could ever ask you...but please take care of your siblings" Lori felt more tears assault her once again."M...mom i...i" But before she could continue her mother let out a painful yell. "PLEASE LORI!" more blood began to pour from her mouth. "P...please sweetie...you have to do it..." She could feel her mother's breathing slow down, and so she pushed her pain aside, and gave her hand a squeeze one last time.

"I...I promise mom...i w...will take care of them, you don't have to worry" Her mother gave her the biggest smile she could muster, her strength quickly leaving her. "thank you s..sweetie...you are so strong...i...i love you so much baby...i'm so s...sorry" Her mother's breathing finally came to a halt, Rita loud was no more. "M..mom...mom no! please mom don't go! not you too! don't leave me i beg of you! MOM!" Lori broke down hugging her mothers corpse close to her, burying her head deep into her stomach crying her eyes out, and that is when her mind went to dark place.

Lori let go of her mother's body and began to look around until she found something she could use, a large piece of glass, lori's mind had begun to twist, she slowly reached out for the object, she would join her family in heaven she thought, she could not live without them, she would not, they were waiting for her, and just as she was about too grab it, her way out from this nightmere, she head it, the most perfect sound in the world, "L...lori" her baby brother's voice, she snaped out from her dark thoughts and quickly move to the back of the car, and as gently as she could, she moved her sisters corpses out of the way, she did not know what happend, but the strong feeling to protect overcame her.

And there he was, her angel little brother, with his handsome face and perfect white hair, but the most amazing thing, was that he was alive! he had some scars and bruises, and still covered in blood, but he could make it, he WILL make it, she would make sure of that! she would keep her promise to her mother, "LINC!" She yelled and quckly unclipped his seatbelt, and hugged him as close to her as possible. "Oh thank God! you are okay Linc!" lori had never felt this relieved in her entire life.

Lincoln was struggling to move his body, for he was aching all over, he tried to open his eyes, but he had no strength left in him, "L...lori w...what happend? A...are you okay?" he could feel his sister's hand rub his back gently, and felt her tears fall onto his face. "I'm okay Linc! i'm o...okay now! how are you feeling? can you move? are you any pain!?" Lincoln could hear the worry in her voice, Lori had always been a mother chicken hen when it came to her siblings, but what he did not know, was that had evolve into mama bear mode. "I think i'm o...okay lori, just really tired" before he could continue, he could feel he was gonna fall asleep again, he was trying to fight it but he was failing. "L..lori i t...think i'm gonna take a n..nap" he could feel Lori started to shake him, to keep him from falling alseep, "No Lincoln! just stay with me! please stay awake just a little longer!"

But then she heard it, the sirens, she moved Lincoln into different position, so she could carried him bridal style, "Just hang on Lincoln!" she kicked the broken car door out of the way, crawling out from the wreckage Lincoln in her arms, she saw them on they way, police and ambulance cars in the distance, "OVER HERE! PLEASE HELP HIM!" but before she knew it, she fell down on the cold ground, the whole ordeal finally catching up with her, and as her mind was turning off from exhaustion, that last thing she did before darkness overcame her, she hugged Lincoln's body close to her, never letting go for a moment.

Flashback End

When she finally woke up, she found herself in a sterile white room, before she could even think about what was going on, the horrible memories came flashing back to her, and as quckly as she could, she bolted from the bed she was laying on, and started to rush for the door, "LINCOLN!" she screamed, opening the door with a loud bang, nurses from the hallway came running towards her, trying to calm her down from her panicking state, "Please ma'am you need to calm down, you can't leave until the doctor has seen you" but before the nurse could guide her back to her room, Lori grabbed the female nurse by the soulders and made her look into her crying eyes, "Please miss!? where is my baby brother? i need to know if he is alright!" Lori began to breakdown in front of the nurse, sliding down to the floor crying her eyes out, not caring about being seen in such a state.

The nurse looked down at her with pity, she had been told what happend to Lori and her family...the rest of her family's bodies were move to the hospitals morgue, after examining them, a family of thirteen, reduced down to just two, one little brother, and one big sister. before the nurse could answer, another voice came into play, "your brother is being checked on right now" Lori quckly snapped her head at the direction of the voice that spoke about her brother, she got a good look at the newcomer, old man dark skin and a head full of gray hair, with a gray mustache to match, the older man clearly being a doctor, his coat giving him away. "And before you ask no, you can't see him as of right now" the old doctor went over to Lori and helped her up, "I'm Doc Church, and i'm the one who did a check up on you, and i must say that you one of the most luckly patient that i have ever had! you came out from that wreckage nearly unscathed!" Lori bit her lips in emotional pain, why only her!? why not the rest of her family!? she was just about to cry again, but she stopped herself, no...not now, right now her only concern was her brother.

"Please doctor! i need to see him!" she looked down and let out a small whisper, "He's all that i have left" The doctor looked at Lori with the same eyes as the nurse...pity, "Look" He said as he made her stand up straight, "I came back here to give you, the all-clear signal for you, and if you want, you can wait in the waiting room, until doctor Adrienn Adami is done with Lincoln," Lori quckly nodded yes and was lead to the waiting room, where we find her now, crying and coming up with the worst scenarios in her head, about her baby brother, who she loves more then anything in the world, she would have kept crying, if not for the sound of the doors opening.

A very pretty dark skinned lady came out from where Lincoln was being held, she looked around for a moment until her eyes landed on Lori, who had just stopped her weeping the moment those doors opened. "Miss Lori Loud?" She asked her, and she quckly nodded yes, "Yes! thats me, how is he doctor? is he alright!?" but the doctor stopped her before she could continue her probing for answers, "Miss Lori i will be honest, he was very lucky...it looks like his...his two sisters bodies toke all the damage, so over all, he sustained very minor damage, and he will make a full recovery, right now he is resting up, you may stay with him until he wakes up...and i'm sorry for your loss." before the doctor could begin to walk away, she was pulled into a tight hug by Lori, "Thank you doctor! thank you!" Before she could respond, Lori had rushed into Lincoln's room, leaving behide the doctor, who had a sad smile on her face.

When Lori came into Lincoln's room, she let the waterworks begin again, but not from sadness, but from joy, he was there, sleeping peacefully, he had some bandaids here and there, but he was safe and that is all that matters. Lori walked over to him and started to kiss him all over, lips eyes nose ears forehead, everything her lips could touch, and toke a deep sniff from his hair. he was alive, thank God he was alive! she toke a chair close to his bed and grabed his hand.

Lori did not know how long she just sat there, just staring at him, this was the worst day of her life, but she was so happy, she had not lost everything, she still had her sweet baby brother, he was everything she had now. she held his hand tightly in her own. "Oh Lincoln" she sighed. Life was gonna be so different now, it was only them now, so much she had to do now, so much to plan, so much to take care of now, she was so scared, all the thoughts about the future attacking her, she was just about to have a panic attack, until she heard a voice in her mind.

take care of them...

Her mother's voice...her promise, she could still keep it! she would keep it, they were all gone, all of them, but she and Lincoln was still here, she could not keep her promise to all her baby sisters...but she could keep it with him! she would take care of him, she would give him the best life she could give, he deserves the best, anything for her baby brother. "So this is how my adult life begins" she asked herself.

"I promise Linc...no matter what, i will be there for you, i love you" she got up into the bed with the sleeping Lincoln, hugging him close to her, pouring all her love into him. what Lincoln did not know, was that his life was no longer his own, for he had become Lori's sole reason to move on, her reason to stay strong...her reason to live. Lincoln smiled in his sleep, feeling Lori hugging him close like when he was little, and he had a nightmere, and what Lincoln did not know in his dream world, was that his life had completely changed forever.
