Kagome watched as the limo drove up the driveway with the large, elegant, and ornately styled tree's, bushes and fountains passing her by. "We are here, Miss Taisho." The driver spoke quietly, drawing the raven haired beauty out of her musings. He opened the limo door for her and with a polite smile, she stepped out, while thanking him. With a nod, he drove away and she held her bag with both hands in front of her demurely as she stared up at the massive school in front of her.

"It's so... pink..." She trailed off, staring up at the obnoxiously wealthy and expensive school. With a long suffering sigh she shrugged and wandered into the school, her yellow skirts from her school uniform swishing around her.

Kagome wandered the halls, trying to find a quiet place to study during her spare class. She had a lot of catching up to do, and Sesshoumaru expected her to not only catch up, but to also excel in all her classes. Such was the expectation that was placed on her as his adopted daughter and legally appointed heir. It truly wasn't her fault for having been sick so often during middle school, but now was the crunch time as she finally had a clean bill of health.

She gave a considering look to the sign that appeared in front of the, seemingly, only quiet classroom in the entire school.

"Music room number three... This place is so massive. But at least it sounds quiet in there..." She muttered, still not used to the huge, fancy and larger than necessary grandiosity that came with the rich life.

Sesshoumaru Taisho had adopted her out of a foster home, along with Rin and Shippo, whom she was fiercely protective over, due to the bullying that had happened to both of them within the school system. He had seen how close all three of them were and decided to keep their little chosen family together, rather than break them apart.

In her middle school years she had lost her entire family in a house fire. She had been trapped inside, and the firemen, while able to rescue her, had not been able to reach her other family members in time. Between the smoke inhalation, a few broken bones, and going to physio and other doctors appointments, she had missed a large amount of school.

Her foster mother, Kaede, who had also allowed Kagome a reprieve from school for a grieving period, was very traditional and lived on a shrine. And was a firm believer in shintoism, having been a shrine maiden since she was young. She had helped Kagome's grieving heart to heal long before the adoption took place, but sadly her grades had sorely suffered for it.

Kagome pulled the door open with an echoing creak throughout the empty hallway, and was pulled from her musings as rose petals blasted out towards her in a gentle swirling gust of wind. A warm and almost melodic chant of "Welcome!" Graced her ears as she was momentarily blinded. She heard the door fall shut behind her with a loud thud.

She blinked then went cross eyed at the elegant rose that was pushed into her line of sight. So close to her face that it was tickling her nose.

What on earth...?

She took a step back and followed the rose, her eyes trailing up towards the arm and connected body, into the face of the blonde and violet eyed boy holding the rose. He was standing in a dramatic pose, in a rather precarious stance that, she noted dryly, was a very weak stance and the boy would easily topple off balance if someone were to push him. She also noticed that he, and 6 other males were watching her expectantly.

"I'm sorry... I'm confused..." She spoke slowly, staring into startling violet blue eyes.

"Welcome princess! You have found us, Ouran's high school host club! You see Ouran is home to the super rich and beautiful who have way too much time on their-" He began, what she was sure would have been, a rather flamboyant lecture. Stopping him there, mid-speech, she lifted her hand up, and gently pushed the rose to the side with the back of her hand, noting absent-mindedly that the rose had been perfectly de-thorned.

"Sorry, I was looking for some place to study. I'll be going now." Her tone held a no-nonsense lilt to it that she had inherited from her adoptive father. With an abrupt turn she turned away from the clearly effervescent boy, noting his slight French accent in his otherwise flawless Japanese. She took a step towards freedom when the way was blocked by a pair of auburn haired twins. Their bronze eyes glimmering with unspoken mischief as they twirled her back around to face the group of males once more.

"Oh, don't be like that, princess." The twins breathed in perfect unison into her ears. Her blue eyes sparkled at them dangerously and they straightened both with equal parts self-preservation and confusion evident on their faces.

The dark haired male pushed his glasses up, letting the light reflect off them, understanding passing across his expressionless face.

"So! Which host will you request princess?" Tamaki wrapped an arm around her shoulder as he waved a hand towards the other boys. "The cool type, the loli-shota type, the wild type, the brotherly love type, the natural type or myself, your king? It is our duty to make every female happy!" Kagome glanced back at the door and noticed, with a glare that was met with cat-like mischievous grins, that the twins had leaned up against the door, blocking her only exit.

With an irritated sigh, she looked back at the group of boys with an unreadable expression as they patiently waited. She may as well go for the calmest of the group, she figured, seeing how she didn't have the mental energy to keep up with any of the others. she looked at the so called cool type, natural type, and the wild type. The one with glasses held an aura about him that told her not to get on his bad side, and that he knew everything. The so called natural type seemed nice enough, but also seemed like the type with genuine curiosity. And between those two, she wasn't wholly comfortable answering personal questions, or dodging elaborate mental games. She raised a hand and everyone watched with anticipation and surprise as she pointed at Mori- Senpai. His grey eyes widening in surprise. Everyone watching in stunned silence.

"Yay! Takashi! Have fun! I will stay with our usual guests!" Hani-senpai jumped off his cousins shoulders and bounced off towards the table of girls waiting for him.

Everyone dispersed, leaving Mori and Kagome to fend for themselves. The former so shocked he didn't know what to do without his cousin. With one final look at the doors, confirming the twins were truly locking her in until she sat down with Mori, she followed him over to a separate sitting area. Each host was paying as much attention as possible to the duo as this was the first time anyone had ever requested Mori as their host alone.

Mori quickly sat down, pouring and handing her some tea. She accepted it and quietly sipped at the delicious flavors that hit her tongue. She smiled and savoured it, her eyes sliding closed as she inhaled the wonderful aroma of the tea. Unaware of the silent boy across from her as his eyes widened fractionally as he watched her small and content smile grace her lips.

"This is delicious tea." She said quietly, looking up to see Mori's expressionless face staring back at her.

"Hn" He said in response, hands resting on his knees, his posture rigid, clearly uncomfortable with this situation. Her eyes trailed off to the energetic and short blonde boy as she recalled his parting words.

"Do you usually host with that other boy?" She asked Mori.

"Yeah" was his one word reply, his expression still serious. "Oh, I see." She replied, leaning back against the plush sofa.

"Mori-senpai! You're not entertaining her properly!" Tamaki hissed from behind them suddenly. Mori and Kagome both looked up in time to see the twins appear out of nowhere and drag their 'king' off to another section of the room.

Kagome watched with a raised eyebrow before turning back to Mori, to find he had a mixed expression of desperation, confusion and stressed determination on his face. She bit her lip to prevent the giggle at his expression, not wanting to make him more uncomfortable.

She composed herself and leaned forwards, placing her small and gentle hand over top of his. He blinked at the contact then looked up at her, in what she realized was a mute question.

"It's alright Mori-senpai. I actually appreciate the quiet. I picked you becayse you seemed the most grounded and calm compared to everyone else here. I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable." She felt the tension leave him from their contact. She offered him a brilliant and serene smile, her eyes sparkling like the sun reflecting on the gentle caressing waves of the sea.

Her eyes were a deep blue that held depths to them that were unexpected. Mori found himself lost in their depths. She leaned back, removing her hand from on top of his, and they spent the rest of the time in near silence. She would ask some questions to get to know him better, and he would give precise one, two, or three word answers. When their time was up, Kagome found that she had actually enjoyed her time in this so-called host club.

She stood to leave, Mori standing to see her off. "Thank you Mori-senpai, I actually enjoyed myself. Thanks for the company." With that she turned and walked away, the door closing with a quiet click behind her.

Mori stared after her, unblinking and fazed by the girl who seemed to understand him as well as Mitsukuni, despite it being their first meeting. There was nobody quite like her, he knew. Hani came up to him and peered up at his unresponsive cousin with a cute smile, a lightbulb going off in his head.

He turned to Kyouya. "Kyo-chan, who was that girl anyways?" The shorter blonde boy asked him.

Kyouya opened his laptop. "That was the adopted daughter of Sesshoumaru Taisho. This is her first time coming this way. She just transferred here from her public high school. It seems her entire biological family was killed over two years ago, when she was 15, by a fire caused by electrical issues in their house. She was the only survivor, however spent the entire past year absent from school due to health problems related to the fire. She was in foster care under the care of a Yamashita Kaede, a retired shrine maiden."

At the mention of Taisho Mori and Hani's eyes widened and they shared a look of knowing. Sesshoumaru Taisho was the famous and renown martial arts master and world champion of kendo. He was the owner of some very prestigious dojo's across japan, but also a very successful CEO and business shark of a famous traditional sword making business, and martial arts equipment supplier, known world-wide. He was known to be a fierce businessman and very ruthless.

As kyouya portrayed Kagome's sad past the mood in the room was very somber. Tamaki's eyes glistening with tears. "That's so sad..."Haruhi whispered, feeling connected to her through the loss of her own mother. She could empathize with one parent, but a whole family? She couldn't imagine how difficult that would be.

At seeing his beloved Haruhi's tears, Tamaki's shoulders straightened. "That's it! 'Operation Make Taisho-san Happy' is under way!" Tamaki shouted, a dramatic pose struck with a finger pointing heavenwards, as the twins and Hani clapped in awe and saluted.

"Right!" They shouted in unision and Haruhi smiled and looked at Kyouya who was typing on his computer.

"Who's to say she even wants anything to do with us?" She asked the wisest of the group, "She was trying to leave before."

"Ah... but she did stay the maximum time with Mori. She could have left anytime." He smirked, giving her a knowing look. "Besides. Tamaki won't rest unil he knows that she, as a female and a client of the host club, is happy. You know how he gets."

Haruhi smiled and looked at the enigmatic, self- appointed king, who had stolen her heart a year ago. "Yeah." She smiled. This would be interesting to say the least.
