BOOM
Outside a small house in the small Aspertia City the thunder's roars populate the sky with both sound and light. Inside however, a different noise fills the air.
"Fine! Why do I even care anymore!" a woman yells, towering over a teenage boy who's holding a large white and blue messenger bag. "Why do you still believe in that stupid dream? Do this and you're dead to me."
"I've wanted to do this my whole life. You know this mom. I already got my first badge from Cheren, and so did Rosa and Hugh. I don't want to stop now." the boy says pleading. "You couldn't dictate me forever you know."
The mom is breathing heavily, eyes red from a mix of tears and anger.
"Why?" she whispers before raising her voice again. "Why couldn't you just be like your father? Stop it with these stupid goals! Is it just because your friends are going? Is that it?!"
"T-That's not the reason."
"That doesn't matter! You're not allowed to. I'll never give you permission." she says while staring at him in disgust. "He'd be ashamed of you."
He stays silent, lip slightly quivering.
"At least their parents support them," he whispers.
"What the fuck did you say to me!? Go upstairs right now! I'm done discussing this with you."
She reaches for his bag and attempts to snatch it. He instead swerves it out of her direction and begins towards the door and ultimately out of the house. She only chases him to the door.
"Come back here right now! I'm not telling you twice!"
There is no response besides the continuous thunder and rhythmic droplets of rain.
"Just wait until your father hears about this!" she pointlessly yells into the storm.
The boy quickly arrives at the border of Aspertia City. Despite the rain him and his friends decided to venture off that day.
"Nate! There you are!" His friend's both yell, each holding an umbrella.
A spiky blue haired boy and a brown haired girl who has her hair styled into two buns wait at the end of the small city for him. They are both holding large bags like Nate and are seemingly excited to see him.
"Me and Rosa were worried you weren't gonna show up," the spiky haired boy tells him.
"Oh shut up Hugh," Rosa says before rolling her eyes sarcastically. "You know we wouldn't leave without him. We've always stayed together after all."
"And besides, I wouldn't miss this for anything," Nate says before chuckling lightly. "Anyway, we should get going."
He starts to walk ahead of them but they don't follow.
"Nate wait. We wanted to know, how'd it go?" she asks curiously.
"Did you actually manage to convince her?" Hugh adds.
There's a pause after this. Nate stands still for a moment before beginning to speak, not turning to face them.
"Y-Yeah. Of course. You know that I would find a way."
Convinced, both of his friends begin to follow.
"Thank god it's raining," Nate thinks to himself while walking in front of his friends.
It was the best weather for the occasion. The rain was a perfect cover for the tears beginning to flow.
