What is good in the neighborhood? It is your boy, your homie, the one and the only, Eccentric Dez!
So, I mentioned that I own a PS3 copy of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. So I spent some time delving back into my childhood and rekindling my love for Spider-Man, so much that I wanted to write my own Spider-Deku story.
So I hope you all enjoy, be sure to like, comment, and subscribe fanfiction-style! Well wishes to you and yours for the new year! Let's get it!
My Hero Academia is owned by Kohei Horikoshi. Spider-Man is owned by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee (RIP).
For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a hero. Showing up at the nick of time, saving people, fighting bad guys. In a world where 80% of people have superpowers, or Quirks, anyone can become a hero. Almost possible. There's also the 20% who don't get Quirks: the Quirkless.
That's the category I fall in. Lucky me. It's the main reason as to why my life sucks. Besides the fact that my dad was shot and killed, and my hopes and dreams were shot down by the one person I'd admired.
But I didn't give up. I studied everything I could on Heroes. I knew that when I got my Quirk, I would be a great hero. Life can change in an instant, and mine changed in my last year of middle school, 14 months before the UA Entrance Exam.
After the events of yesterday, I didn't want to spend all day in the house, so I decided to go visit the museum. I had planned to visit anyway, since there was an All Might exhibit.
"I'm sorry, but it's impossible to become a hero without a Quirk."
All Might's words bounced around in my head as I entered the museum. I looked towards where the All Might exhibit should be. The exhibit was still there, swallowed by multitudes of people. I went in the opposite direction. I didn't want to see anything from All Might, not after yesterday.
I decided to tour the other half of the museum, if you can call it that. Most of the building was filled with dusty, cobweb-covered ancient artifacts in order to qualify as a museum. None of the artifacts were that interesting.
Except for one. The exhibit showed items from PQE African culture. Face masks, weapons, and a few totems, one of which was called "Anansi". I picked it up, admiring the shape and texture.
The description read, "Over 600 years ago PQE, African natives would make effigies, representing the gods of their religions. One of many being the trickster God Anansi, also known as the God of Knowledge and Stories, who often took the form of a spider."
I put down the totem, so I wouldn't break it. Unfortunately, I put it in the wrong place and it fell, breaking on impact.
"Oh shit!" I cried, worried. I began picking up the pieces. Hopefully it was still fixable. All I had to do was take it to the manager-
My thoughts were interrupted as I felt a sharp pain in my hand.
'OK, maybe I just cut myself,' I thought to myself. 'I can- what the???' My eyes fell on the large spider that had just made a taste test out of my right hand.
That's when I passed out.
I woke up in pitch black. 'Am I… dead?'
My answer came when suddenly a large eye opened in front of me. Then another. Then another. Then five more. Then a light came on from...somewhere and illuminated the biggest spider I've ever seen.
" Izuku Midoriya," it said in a booming voice.
"I'm going to die." I closed my eyes and trembled in fear.
"Why do you tremble, child? My bite only brings death to those of evil intent. I will bestow on you a greater torment…the curse of power."
"Kid? Kid!" I woke up on the floor of the museum. A security guard was kneeling over me in worry.
"You okay? Looked like you were passed out for a few minutes. Would you like a ride to the hospital?"
I shook my head and slowly got to my feet. "I'll just go home. Thanks." I mumbled embarrassed.
I left the museum and started home, still feeling weird and repeating the words that spider said.
"I will bestow on you a greater torment… the curse of power," I thought to myself. "What does that mean? And why do I feel so… weird?"
Suddenly, I felt a slight buzzing in my head as I began to cross the street. A large truck was barrelling through the intersection like a bat out of hell. The truck started screeching to a halt. On instinct, I jumped as high as I could, clearing it. Turns out, as high as I could meant the height of a two-story building. I landed on the other side of the street, stumbling to a halt.
"Ok, what the hell was that?" I thought as I began running. "Home. Go home."
It took me a half hour to get home. Luckily, Mom was at work so I had time to panic and freak out.
"Ok, I just jumped two stories over a truck," I said, frantically. "I've never jumped that high before! I could've killed myself. And yet… THAT WAS FREAKIN NUTS!!! I felt so power..ful."
I stood there, contemplating the words the spider told me. "I will bestow upon you a greater torment… the curse of power."
"No way," I said, excitement and fear bubbling in my stomach. "...I have a Quirk."
I began to jump for joy.
"I HAVE A QUIRK! YES! YES! FINALLY!!"
I ran to my room and began researching everything I could find about spiders. By sunset, I had at least a notebook full of ideas to test.
I stared at the city of Musutafu, a city with plenty of high rises and skyscrapers and abandoned buildings where I could test my Quirk.
"One year before the Entrance Exam," I thought determinedly. "Enough time for me to figure out what I can do."
This is my destiny. This is the path that I've chosen. This… is my web. I am Izuku Midoriya, and with this power, I have to become the greatest hero.
Because with great power comes great responsibility.
Ok, so a few things I want to discuss. So Izuku's powers as Spider-Man are the usual:
Superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and agility
Superhuman durability
Minor healing factor
Heightened senses
Powers of adhesion
Organic webbing production
Spider Sense
Also, I gave Izuku the power to produce his own webs, mainly because Izuku is a Quirk Nerd who likes figuring out jow to creatively use a Quirk. Why not allow him to do the same with his Quirk?
Also, Also, there will be no pairings as I do suck at writing romance.
Also, Also, Also, I will be pulling elements from the various Spider-Man video games. So if you see a reference, point it out in the reviews.
Be sure to like, comment, and subscribe fanfiction-style. I will try to read and respond to every review.
Madhouse vibes forever.
