Cassia was going to be married. She knew this. She accepted it. There wasn't much she could do for herself, other than accept it. She has met her future husband. He was a kind man who would take care of her. She knew it. Everyone knew that he would treat her well.

She was to become his wife, and the mother of his children. But she had no romantic love for him. Sure. It could and most likely become a romantic love, but for right now, she didn't have that, and neither did he.

She walked through the town she grew up in. She was Fae. They were like dragons, rare, and could be hunted. Her people were hated for their power.

Cassia locked arms with her best friend who was the head of her ladies in waiting, Ariadne, as they walked through the town. They giggled as they gossiped and spoke with each other. She was going to miss this place. Yes, she was sure he would allow her to come back to visit.

He already told her that he wouldn't keep her from coming back here when she wanted to visit.

Cassia wanted to relish her last moments back home. She will be leaving with her ladies in waiting, and some guards. They weren't expecting anything, but since she was royalty, she was needing the guards.

She was soon called back home to which she obeyed. The two got into the carriage. The two girls, one pale, one dark skinned, held hands as the carriage moved. The two were like sisters. Ariadne was a child like Cassia was when they met for the first time.

Ariadne's parents were slaves who worked at the palace, and when they bother were old enough, the two were introduced, Ariadne's job was to be friends and play with Cassia. The two became close quickly.

They said they were born to be sisters but were born separately.

Cassia spent much time with her family and loved ones as the time grew short till Cassia was to leave for her new home. Soon, it was time for her to turn in for the night one last time in her bed.

Ariadne was told that she and the others whom were going away with her, was to take the night off. Cassia laid in her bed as she looked out her open balcony into the night sky. Sadness filled her, but acceptance kept it from swallowing her whole.

She wasn't leaving for long. She would be back. She was going to be happy soon.

Cassia and Ariadne went to leave. Everything was packed up, and ready to get going once she was in her carriage. Her parents were waiting to say their goodbyes when she came out to the entrance of her home.

She hugged her parents whom she would miss the most. She was the only daughter. Her older brother already said his goodbyes to her.

Her father helped Ariadne and then Cassia into the carriage. The other Ladies in waiting were in the carriage as well waiting for Cassia so the trip could start. A slave came and made sure everyone was fed.

Cassia waved at her parents as they all left for the trip. Unaware of their trouble that would soon be coming their way while on the road.
