Once the well opened up and I seen the sky I knew what I had to do. I bid a farewell to my mom, and instructed for her to tell my friends what became of me, and what I did all those times Grandpa pretended I was sick. I took a deep breath and without hesitation jumped in. What felt like an eternity but a matter of minutes in reality I was at the bottom of the well peering up at a blue sky before a hand, a familiar hand stuck itself in the well reaching for me. I placed mine in his allowing him to haul me out, I stood on the edge peering into those brilliant golden eyes, the ones I yearned for , the ones I loved.
"Inuyasha I'm so sorry, where you waiting here for me?" I asked, tears welling in my eyes as I stared at the face of my half-demon lover. His face was a fixature of confusion and relief.
"Kagome, you idiot what have you been doing all this time." He said before pulling me into a tight hug, I rested my head on his chest, hearing his heartbeat and knew for the first time in a long time I was finally home.
"Kagome!" I heard the familiar voice of the little fox demon Shippo.
"You made it back." Next came Sango.
"It's been much to long Kagome!" Miroku said, I took the time to back away from Inuyasha smiling at my dear friends, noticing the three new members of the group, twins and a new baby boy.
"Miroku, Sango, Shippo, it's good to see you!" I said, looking at all their smiling faces before I ran over to them. Im back I thought to myself, over joyed to be amongst everyone again. Inuyasha was not far behind me as we walked back to Kaede's village, Miroku hanging back to talk to him while I caught up with Sango.
" How did you get back, I thought you couldn't." She said bouncing the little boy on her back. Truthfully I didn't understand it myself.
" I am not sure, the well just starting working for me again." I shrugged as we walked, I took in the village around me as we left the forest . Everything was the same yet so different, but thats to be expected after 3 years away.
"K-Kagome you, you made it back!" Kaede said stunned when we entered her hut, the hut I stayed at when I first came to this world, the one I called home when I was here.
"Kaede Hi!" I said hugging the old miko, noticing Rin was with her, that confused me as I thought for sure she would still be with Sesshomaru.
"Hi Kagome." Rin smiled at me, I let go of Kaede to turn to her.
"Hi Rin! It's good to see you, you look so grown up." She really did, loosing some of her child like features for more teenage ones. I could barley wrap my head around everything, including my excitement.
Mostly I wanted to be alone with Inuyasha, to talk to him after all I only came back for him, and to be with him. I looked over at him to find he was looking at me too, our eyes connected and a red tint covered his cheeks. More then anything I wanted how he felt for me to be the same as I felt for him.
"We need a dinner to celebrate!" Miroku exclaimed everyone in agreeing with him. I was more then happy to comply with this.
"We will get started, Inuyasha could you go search for some firewood for me?" Kaede asked which of course he obliged to do so. I took this as my chance and followed him out.
"Inuyasha wait." I said trying to catch up to him, I forgot he was a much faster walker then I.
"Kagome, I just cant believe it." He said stopping in his tracks to face me. I was trying to get a read on his face, but like always he hid how he was feeling well.
" I, I needed to be with you." I confessed kicking the dirt with my flat shoe. He pulled me into a tight hug, similar to the one at the well, and I again rested my head against him. I wanted to cry again, I was so incredibly happy.
"Kagome, I missed you more then you know." He said tightening his grip, almost like he was afraid if he let me go I would disappear.
"You wont have to miss me anymore, I am here to stay, I will live in this world until Im old, and I will live it by your side." I said, pulling away to look at him. I took my thumb and wiped a stray tear that fell from his eye. I have only seen Inuyasha cry once, its a rare sight, our reunion must have meant a lot to him
"You mean it, forever Kagome?" He asked, still seeming unsure of himself. I nodded stretching on my toes allowing my lips to meet his. Finally everything was falling into place, his lips hard but gentle moved against mine softly as we stood there engulfed in our own world.
"Aslong as you will have me." I giggled as we pulled apart, heading to the woods so Inuyasha could cut down trees for firewood. I watched as he got to work, still trying to take in my new surroundings. I knew for one, I needed to get a change of clothes, one that would let me fit into this era better, and I needed to find a permeant place to stay, maybe the village headman would offer me a place to stay, I knew he was quiet found of me. I considered asking Inuyasha, but I doubt he even had a home of his own. I followed him again as we headed back to Kaede's hut. Inuyasha was silent on the way threw, looking to be deep in thought. I almost asked him a few time what was bothering him, but opted to enjoy the silence instead. Once we made it back in, Inuyasha put the wood down before getting to work lighting it. I stood near Kaede making small talk with her.
Sitting around the fire, looking at the faces both old and new I couldn't help but feel calm.
"So what do you think let you come back?" Rin asked me, I swallowed my rice before answering.
"I'm not sure, my only guess is that the well knew I was ready this time, when I went back home I was scared and all I wanted was to be with my mom, and after that I was still afraid." I said drinking my tea.
" But everything I wanted and needed to do in my time was done, I knew I was ready to go, and if given the chance there would be no hesitation I would go back to him." I said eyeing Inuyasha who was trying to act like I wasnt looking at him.
" So you came back for him?" Rin asked. I blushed a little before nodding.
"Partly, I mean my soul was born for Inuyasha's I knew we would be together in every life, but I needed to be ready, and now I am." Inuyasha blushed too before looking at the ceiling.
"Well uh, if course you can always come back to me idiot." That caused a laugh from everyone in the room.
" Where will you be staying tonight?" Sango asked. I swallowed and thought, I never really put much into that,
"I, I have no idea." I said honestly. I would sleep outside until I could figure it out if need be.
"You can stay with me." Inuyasha said, so it seems like I would be outside.
"Oh yes! Inuyasha owns a small hut outside the village a little ways, althought he rarely stays there." Shippo said.
"I would love that, thank you." I smiled at him.
I would be starting my new life, a life with my Inuyasha
