Title: A Spy in the Scanran Court
Summary: Young Shangs Gwyneth (the Phoenix) and Aidan (the Griffin) are sent by Kylia, the Shang Unicorn, and Nariko to Scanran to act as spies in light of a threat of war to the Yamani Isles.

Chapter 1-
Gwyneth, the Phoenix in the order of the Shang, laughed as her best friend, Aidan, the Shang Griffin tripped on their way to a meeting with Kylia, The Shang Unicorn, and Nariko, a Shang Master. Kylia and Nariko had watched them during their training and now that the two were official shangs had requested a meeting with the two for a 'top secret assignment'.
''Well Gwyn, you don't have to be so raucos about me tripping'', Aidan said with laughter in her eyes.
"Sorry Addy,'' came the reply.
The two emmerged into the room the epitome of Yamani warriors, without a trace of laughter between them.
"We have a very intriging proposition for you,'' began Nariko,'' as you two may already know there is a very prominant threat from Scanra of war. We have been watching you lately and you both exel in all the arts of Shang and war. It is our wish that you two will serve as spies in the Scanran court. Do you accept?''
Gewn and Aidan looked at each other. The answer was in their eyes.
''We shall gladly accept the honor of serving you in this mission. We only ask how we asituate ourselves in the court,'' Gwyn asked.
"You shall be posing as servants. This should make it quite easy to 'accidentaly overhear a conversation." Kylia informed them.
"When do we leave?'' asked the always practical Aidan.
"In one week," said Nariko.
****************************ONE*WEEK*LATER****************************
"Yes, I HAVE to go,'' Gwyn told her boyfriend Raydon.
"Can I atleast kiss you goodbye?''
"I was hoping you would,'' she said cheakily.
They kissed passionatly.

Gwyn and Aidan met in the barracks an hour before their departure to bid farewell to their faithful horses.
"I'll miss you Sappire Starlight, you too Emerald Starbright.'' Gwyn addressed her horses by their full names.
"And I shall miss you Moonbeam and Sunstream,'' Aidan tod her horses.
All the Shangs had two horses in case one should, gods forbid, be injured. They were both usually mares {female horses}.
"Come on Aidan, let's go say bye to the twins,'' Gwyn insisted.
The twins were Flamethrower and Goldfire. Their mother had been a famous horse who had earned the nickname 'Warrior' due to her agresive attitue in battle.
After saying their farewells to all the horses and their friends, knowing they may never see them again, they were ready to leave.
The plan was to take a boat to northern Tortall then sneak across the border to Scanra. After that, it would be a strait path to the palace. Where to Tortallan contacts (spies in the city) would help them get positions at the palace.
As they boarded the boat Gwyn turned to Aidan, "Did you tell anyone where we're really going?''
''No, I stuck with the 'we're-going-adventuring' story. Did you tell anyone?''
"Just Raydon.''
