Silence of the Lambs
"Listen,
James," I blurted. "It's over. We broke up; end of story."
It
wasn't like me at all to refuse a guy, but after what he did to me ... oh, you
don't know, do you?
Well,
it all started when me and my best friend, Rowena (pronounced R-ow-ee-nar)
started at Hogwarts. We had the time of our lives, partying in the Gryffindor
common room late at night. That was before I met ... him. His dark hair, bottle
green eyes, cute spectacles ... they were so enchanting. He was so enchanting.
I
fell for him straight away, as he fell for me. He visited me in the Girls'
Dormitory. We were full of each other. I was happy, then. But, one day, his
best friend, Sirius Black, took me away for a few minutes and whispered, "James
thinks you're a slimy, little, maggoty weasel."
How
could I believe such a falsehood? I loved James,as he loved me. I thought
nothing could part us. But, his comments could. I kept my bad comments about
him to myself (such as combing that messy hair of his).
I
immediately ran to him, while he was studying in the library.
He
saw me and called, "Lily! Over here!"
Madame
Pince frowned at him, but he ignored all, but me.
I
gave him that sharp, twisted look and said, "Listen, James. It's over ...
between us. But, in future, when you have better relationships with hopeful
girls, mind that you keep your nasty comments about her to yourself."
I
turned on my heel, tears running down my cheeks, and ran to Rowena.
Here
we are again, he still dreaming that our relationship is ... hot. I rolled my
eyes at him. I sat down at the bench, gazing at the lush, green pastures full
of sheep.
"Why
are you upset, James?"
He
took a heavy breath and stared at me. He was clutching my hand with his sweaty
one.
"Silence
of the lambs," he replied, smiling slightly.
I
smiled. That was his favourite phrase, back then. I stopped smiling.
"It's
your own fault, James. I thought we were inseparable But, why did you say those
things about me?"
He
suddenly looked at me, hope shining in his eyes.
"You
mean you don't know?"
"Know
what?"
He
settled down.
"Sirius
and I had a fight, and to get even with me, he told you lies."
I
suddenly felt a hot surge of anger.
"What
a load of junk!" I stated furiously. "You're making stuff up just to cover your
mistakes. You're just gonna keep on lying till it suits you. But I'm not gonna
fall for anything else that you throw at me!"
I threw a soda can at him and stormed back up the castle,
cursing my gullible brain.
The End
