Author's Note All Animorphys who have read my fics know that I do well with flashbacks. I have several fics with flashbacks and this is another one. I love flashbacks! Also, I don't know if they knew each other in 7th grade, but in my story they do.
Disclaimer- I don't own Val/Reagan Pasternak or Tyler/Shawn Ashmore (although that would be nice…)
Hey BE-A-TLE, are you still going on that trip to Canada?
Déjà vu
**begin flashback**
The phone rang. Val Lanier quickly picked up the extension in her room, where she was laying on her bed doing English homework.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Hey Val," said the voice on the other end. Val quickly identified it as Tyler Connell.
"Tyler?" she asked.
"Yeah. Listen, I'd like to ask you something… I have a question…" Val's heart beat faster and her palms began to sweat. Will he ask me out? she wondered.
"…about the English homework." Tyler finished. "Is it page 256 or 266? Because Mrs. Blair said it so fast I didn't understand." Tyler was nervous, Val decided. Maybe he wasn't really calling about the English homework. Maybe he was going to ask me out. Maybe he got really nervous so he made something up about English homework to ask instead. Maybe he just wanted to call, but he didn't have a reason. Val thought hopefully, although she was disappointed.
"Page 256." She replied in a monotone voice disappointedly.
"What's wrong?" Tyler asked concernedly.
"Nothing." Val said and shook her head.
***********end flashback*****
Val remembered the incident in 7th grade as she picked up the phone.
"Hello?" Val said.
"Hey Val," said the voice on the other end. Val quickly identified it as Tyler with a distinct feeling of déjà vu.
"Tyler?" she asked. Tyler, on the other end, got a vague feeling of déjà vu, but shook it off as nervousness. This feels weird. Has this happened before? No… it must just be nerves, he thought.
"Listen, Val… I'd like to ask you…" he began. On the other end of the line, his heart began to race. He wanted to take a drink of water, but he was afraid the glass would slip out of his sweaty palm.
"Um, I have a question…" he continued. Val's heart began to race as well. Come on, don't chicken out, Tyler thought to himself.
"…about the English homework?" Val asked and laughed nervously.
"OH! That's why I had déjà vu…" Tyler said. Then, "No… actually, I was wondering… would you like to go out on a date," he gulped and continued, "Saturday?"
"Um, sure, I guess Tyler," Val said happily. "What I mean is, yes yes yes!"
"Cheese, Val, calm down. You sound like that person on the Herbal Essences commercial!" he said, smiling.
"Okay" Val said meekly, with a sheepish smile on her face, although Tyler couldn't see.
"Pick you up at 7?" Tyler said.
" Okay. See you then, if not before!" Val said.
"Love you Val." Tyler said.
Val nearly had a heart attack, but recovered. "Love you too Tyler. Bye."
"Bye." Tyler said and they hung up.

It's over. It's just a short little story that doesn't have or require a sequel, at least in my opinion. It's just fluff/sap/maple-flavored cotton candy. NOW REVIEW!
