Here's a small missing scene from the Return of
the King. I wanted to do a Frodo's POV of his and Sam's journey in Mordor, so
here goes. The first two replicas are from the book, BTW. -- Marwën

When Sam felt his eyes closing and knew that
his struggle to keep awake could not go on much longer, he wakened Frodo
gently.
"That Gollum's about again, I'm afraid,
Mr. Frodo," he said. "I
reckon it isn't safe for us both to sleep together, and begging your pardon,
but I can't hold up my lids much longer."
"Bless you, Sam!" said Frodo.
"Lie down and take your proper turn!"
Sam nodded and lay down, plunging into
sleep. Frodo settled down next to
him. He wasn't feeling sleepy, since he
had slept very deeply and the night air was cool. He took a draught from the water bottle; it was a bit oily, but
satisfied his throat. His gaze wandered
around the cliffs and mountains round them, gloomily noting the scarce
vegetation. Then his gaze fell on Sam,
who was already snoring softly. Frodo's
eyes softened and he reached out to put his hand on Sam's brown forehead,
caressing his brow. Sharp pangs of
guilt tugged at his heart, seeing the weariness painted on Sam's face.
"I shouldn't have brought him here with
me," he thought. "It is far too dangerous a road for anyone."
"Including you," another voice
said. "And without Sam, you would
never have got that far."
"Yes, I know. But my Samwise Gamgee is too dear to me."
The voices stopped a moment while Frodo studied
carefully his friend's features. Sam's
face was a little pale from fatigue and hunger, but his chest rose and fell
regularly with each breath; he was sleeping peacefully, almost
confidently. Frodo marveled at the
strength that was emanating from this seemingly frail figure, and at how much
he beneficiated from it. Stooping, he
gently kissed Sam's forehead, then took one hand into his own.
"No," he thought. "Without Sam,
the quest would have surely failed a long time ago. He's done so much for me."
Sighing, he lay his back against the cliff, one
of Sam's hand still into his own. Once
more overcome by weariness, but with a sense that they could be safe together,
he closed his eyes and fell into a deep undisturbed sleep.

That's it. I wish I'd be able to write longer
stories… :-(
