"I miss you…"
Max Caulfield's soft tone was filled of sorrow as she sat on the side of her bed. Her blue eyes were looking heavily down upon a picture she was holding in her hands. Like so many, it was an image the young photographer had captured herself with her instant camera.
This one, however, she intended to take extra special care of, for it was a picture of someone very dear to Max - who had recently died.
"I can't believe you're not here with me anymore…"
A tear escaped Max's eye to splash onto the pictures. She gently brushed it away, never averting her gaze away from who it held. If only she still had her powers to jump into photographs and alter time. Then she could prevent the death of her dear friend. She would have done all she could to save the life of this loved one.
"This is the only way I can see you from now one," Max murmured, rubbing her fingers over the picture. "I'll make sure not a day goes by where I don't see you."
Still holding the photograph in one hand, Max used the other to pull open her bedside drawer. She pulled out a small, golden-coloured picture frame that was just the right side to hold this one. She slipped the image inside before taking it to the wall opposite her bed.
Max hung the picture up before taking a step back. Her tear-filled eyes observed the photograph where she had placed it. Now that it was on her wall, the first thing she would see when she would wake up each morning would be the beautiful sight of her friend.
The tears in Max's eyes escaped to stream down her cheeks. She wiped them away, wishing with all her broken heart her fallen friend could come back to her. Never ever would she take down this picture of her. It would stay with the young photographer forever.
"I love you…" Max said softly. "Lisa."
"Hey, hippie!"
It was at that moment when a familiar mischievous voice filled Max's room. Quickly drying her tears, she swung around to see peering around from behind the door was a certain blue-haired punk.
"You're not still mourning for that plant, are ya?!" Chloe asked, bewildered.
"Sorry," Max murmured. "It's just I feel bad. It was my responsibility to take care of Lisa - and I drowned her."
"Big boo hoo. You have your plant too much water and it died. It just goes to show you're meant to be a photographer, Max, not a gardener."
Chloe stepped into the room and placed a hand onto Max's shoulder. She was determined to cheer up her best friend.
"Listen, it's no good sitting around crying in your room! I got the truck running outside! I'll take ya to some cool spots you can capture with your camera!"
"Thanks, Chloe…"
Max's sniffled, her eyes sparkling as she smiled up at the tall blue-haired girl. She was so grateful to have her in her life. What she would do without her, she didn't know.
"C'mon, grab your camera!" Chloe urged. "You better make sure I'm in plenty of this shots you're about to take!"
"Right, of course." Max chuckled as she picked up her camera. "Then maybe later, we could go out to a party."
"You, Max Caulfield?!" Chloe exclaimed in disbelief. "You wanna go to a party?!"
"Uh huh!" Max nodded as she followed her best friend out of her room. "I'm ready for the mosh pit, shaka brah!"
"Max, I swear to God, if you hella say that to me one more time…"
The end.
