Note: Not to toot my own horn, but this just might be my most ambitious and possibly greatest one shot I have ever written! This really long baby involves linking 2 of Linda's most famous roles together: The one she's most famous for now among young folks (Hetty), and the 1 that made her famous in the first place all the back when her career was starting to take off (Billy).

There'll be more notes at the end of this. Enjoy this long story! :) (and yes, there is a LOT of spoilers from The Year of Living Dangerously included)

Hetty's house.

'Owen, have you ever known or heard of someone who looked a lot like you?' Hetty asked.

'Maybe at some point, why?' Granger replied, curious.

'Well, I've got an interesting story of how I met someone who knew someone who looked me. Would you like to hear it?'

'Go ahead. You always tell the most interesting stories.'

Hetty liked his answer. After getting some things and settling in her armchair, she started her story.

'It was 1972. I was in London on a visit. While I was walking about, a woman stared at me all weird like. I didn't think that much of it, until I saw her follow me. I eventually confronted her and asked her why she was following me. And, she said that I looked an awful lot like someone she knew a few years before. I could tell she wasn't going to leave me alone for a bit, and it was getting dark. So, I invited her into my flat for dinner. Seeing Granger's miffed look: Don't look at me like that, I had a pistol!'

After I gave her a cup of tea, I asked her to tell me who was it I reminded her of. And, I was bit shocked to see that it was a man I reminded her of.'

'Why is that surprising? You've said before that your weird looks sometimes makes people think you look like a dude.' Granger asked.

'Yes yes, but this one was different. She showed me a photo of her friend Billy, that's the name of the man, and, I was surprised I didn't faint right then and there. Here, here's the photo she showed me.'

Granger looked at the photo, and boy did hos eyes get huge!

'You're, you're really making my head hurt here! Like, was he your twin brother?!' He stuttered.

'That's what I thought at first! After I calmed down, I told her that I was adopted as a baby, and that I never knew if I had any real siblings. She seemed to understand, then she asked if she could tell my about Billy anyways. I was very curious, so I said yes.' Hetty continued.

'What was the lady's name?'

'Jill. Her name was Jill. She told me that she and Billy were reporters in Indonesia in the late 60's. Billy introduced her to the man she would one day fall in love with, his name was Guy, and he was new. She said that Billy was responsible for her and Guy falling in love the way they did.'

Smiling. 'Sounds like someone I know.'

'Yes dear. I know what you are getting at. That was all she told me that night before she went home, but she returned the next day because I told her I wanted to know more. And over the course of the next few days, I got to know her friend very well.' Hetty continued.

'What was he like?'

'Smart, kind, loved photography, and (sigh), had his own secrets. He had a young daughter, not biologically, but in a sort of adopted way, like myself and Mr. Callen. She wasn't getting enough food, and Billy discovered that the government may had been starving them. He knew what the risks were if he were to go public with what he knew, so for the time being, he kept silent, and hoped things would get better.'

'But, things didn't, I presume?' Granger asked.

'You would be right. The little girl eventually died of severe malnutrition. That's when Billy knew he had to take a chance and try to speak up, or else more innocent people would die. So, he turned to other reporters he knew of and tried to ask them for help. (sighs). They, didn't want to help him. In fact, they gave him a severe warning of what would happen if he tried to speak up. And Guy, the friend he liked the most, didn't want to help either.'

'Damn, that really bites. How did he feel being betrayed like that?'

'Furious. He ran off and Guy followed him. They shouted back and forth at each other and Billy eventually stormed off.'

'What could he have been thinking after that?' Granger softly asked.

'I can imagine: Grief stricken, no one will help him, outraged at all the injustice, probably feeling like he was just like those cowards the longer he stayed silent. He probably felt like he had nothing left to lose. After that, he rented a hotel room, and hung a big poster outside the window demanding that the people be fed.'

'Wow. That's bold.' Granger remarked.

'It is. Unfortunately, (head bowed), it's what got him killed. Security guards saw it, ran right up to his room, and threw him out the window. And the person who was supposed to see the poster never got to see it. Guy and Jill saw it happen.' Hetty unhappily continued.

'That's, really awful. Did they get to bury him at least?'

'No. What he did made him a traitor, and traitors were given badly marked graves in a dreadful looking field marked for 'law breakers'. Jill said that it took a bit of digging around, but she eventually tracked down where he might be buried. She also said that she has someone make sure his grave is well tended to.'

'What eventually happened to her and Guy?' Granger asked.

'They both had to leave soon after losing Billy because it got too dangerous to stay. They reunited eventually, and got married. She said that she sometimes wondered why Billy put her and Guy together, but, she also said it may had been because they tolerated each other.'

'The only reason for wanting to marry someone.'

Smirk. 'I have 1 last thing to show you.'

Hetty led him to the basement, pressed a hidden button on the wall. A part of the wall went down to reveal a giant metal safe. Hetty pressed a couple buttons and twisted a big wheel.

'Wow! Is this all of…'

'Billy's files and his photos? Yes. Guy retrieved all of them before they could be taken. It's how he and Jill found out about his secrets. When my visit came to an end, I asked Jill if I could look after Billy's work. It took a bit of convincing, but she handed me 1 of his files. I put it here. And when she and Guy eventually passed on, all of his work was delivered to me. This is my most durable safe. It can stand up to anything, even earthquakes. His work is very protected here.' Hetty said.

'I gotta say, these amazing looking photos, these kind of secrets. Seems like you 2 could've been great friends.'

'We could've. And before you ask, I'm also making sure his grave is being tended to. After I left London, I went to Indonesia and tracked it down. I hired a few someones to keep it tidy, and to this day, there is still someone keeping it tidy. They check in every once in a while. It's the only grave not surrounded by weeds. It has flowers.'

'That's very nice. He'd be proud of you for keeping his work.' Granger said.

'I believe so. He had his secrets, I have mine, and now I'm guarding his. It's the least I could do since we both look so alike, and both had some similar traits, and now that I've said all that, he could've been my brother, if I knew I had siblings.' Hetty finished, slightly unhappy.

Rubbing her shoulders. 'You have a great family though, and me.'

Smiling. 'I know. Thank you for reminding me.'

Endnotes: I was weary from missing Hetty so much, and still burnt out from what that so called 'finale' did. Making Hetty gif sets on Tumblr wasn't doing much for me other then sometimes making me annoyed at remembering that this used to be such a great show back in it's glory days. Then in early June, I got the big idea to, make gif sets of Linda's earlier roles and see if that might help. Over the next month, I made sets of several movies that she was in, along with a few of her earlier TV roles. And yes, I eventually got tempted to make gifs of her Oscar winning role.

99% of spoilers mentioned here related to the movie are true. 1 day I was thinking about how annoyed I was at how tragic Billy's fate was, I thought, 'Why not try to soften the blow a bit in my own way?'. I didn't want to got the route of 'AU where this doesn't happen', so this was the next best thing.

Hope you enjoyed this, and apologies if I got a few movie details wrong. :) (and FYI, I still miss Hetty, but I'm handling it a bit better.)
