Lincoln's Modern Life

Chapter 1: Lisa Crosses Dimensions

By Dr. John Smith

The large house on 1216 Franklin Avenue was typically a quiet one. Quite, as much as it could, for a family with the surname Loud. The family was known for many crazy things they were interested in, but one particular child was the one making all sorts of inventions. Lisa Loud, the six year old child genius was hard at work on her newest invention. It was a console with some buttons and a colorful wheel with a triangular screen elevated above it. No one knows what the invention did quite yet but she had worked on it for well over two weeks. Planning out every step in meticulous detail. Once she put the last wire in place and screwed the panel on, she took a step back. Gazing up in awe at her machine. "Siblings! Siblings get in here!" She shouted to the rest of the house. It wasn't long until the family all piled in the room with equal looks of confusion.

Lori, the oldest sibling, eyed the machine up and down. "What is this?"

"It's my newest invention!" Proclaimed Lisa. "I call it an Interocitor. It shall allow me to make contact with different universes!" The family oooed at her explanation. The genius ran up to the console and began flipping switches and pressing buttons. The machine's response was a mix of whirring and buzzing. The triangular screen was fuzzy, but a faint picture was taking form. None knew what it was.

In the pictured dimension stood a wilted, angled yellow house. A rock wallaby wearing a floral shirt had just finished mowing the lawn before entering his living room. "Hey Rocko!" Called out a large, circular yellow steer on the couch and munched away at a bag of chips.

"Heff, how long have you been here?" Asked Rocko. Heffer, the steer, was known for coming and going as he pleased.

"About an hour and a half." Replied Heffer. Beside Heffer was a turtle in a bowtie and glasses. He didn't appear as happy as the steer.

"Rocko, you should really have your entire house disinfected." Clammed out Filburt. Filburt was a neurotic turtle. Always washing his hands and fearing for germs. Rocko squeezed between the two larger frames and gazed at the tv. A small black and white dog slept before them.

"What's on?" Asked Rocko.

"New episode of The Fatheads." Replied Heffer.

Rocko beamed in anticipation. But as the program began, something odd began to happen before them. The screen started to static as a faint image of several figures formed. This set off some red flags for Rocko. He got up and began to hit the tv in confusion. "Stupid tv… Something is probably wrong with the antenna." Rocko had spent the last twenty three years in space, so updating his home to the latest tech was a costly matter. One the cashier of a comic book store could barely afford. He'd had his eyes on a flat screen, but the price is what hept him grounded to his CRT. As soon as the wallaby kicked the tv, something even more odd happened. A powerful sucking force began to pull the group into the screen. The force was similar to the Suck-O-Matic. The first one in was Rocko's dog Spunky. This caused the wallaby to shout in utter horror. "Spunky!" He shouted. The next one to go was Heffer. Then Filburt. And finally Rocko.

Lisa stepped back in disappointment at her invention. She looked back to her waiting siblings before looking back to her machine. "But…" She peeped out. "I did everything right. My calculations were precise…"

"Good job genius." Said her oldest sibling. The group turned to leave. Leaving Lisa sitting there in failure.

That was.

Until it happened.

From the triangular screen flew out a small black and white dog. He yelped in surprise before landing in Lisa's arms. The group all gasped in unison at the sight. Lisa held the dog in surprise. "Interesting. Perhaps my device encountered a universe of dogs?" What followed next, no one could have ever guessed. The large steer flew out and landed directly in Lily's crib. Followed by the turtle on top of him. Followed lastly by the wallaby smacking right dab in front of the crib and landing harshly on the floor. Rocko regained consciousness first and peered around the room. He spotted his dog in the arms of the young scientist and rushed to snatch him.

"Spunky!" Shouted Rocko as he gripped tightly to his dog.

Lisa circled Rocko intently. Examining him like he was a test subject she couldn't understand. "Interesting… You appear to be a large, sentient rock wallaby."

"I am a wallaby." Replied Rocko in confusion. Not too long after Heffer and Filburt slowly awoke. The steer looked around the room slowly, shaking his head to clear the image he was seeing. The Loud Siblings all looked at him in shock and confusion.

"Wow." He remarked. "Are we in heck?" Glancing around the room, Heffer began to poke at Lola's tiara. The steer messing with her crown of dominance irritated the young pageant queen to a boiling point. Smacking his hand away in an angry fashion.

"Back off cow!" She shouted.

Rocko gave a nervous chuckle at the scene before turning back to the machine, still with a view of his living room. "Alright guys, I think we've had our fun. It's time to go." The wallaby stated. The group began walking up to the machine before a large, green blob pushed its way through the screen. The bulbus, pompous head belonged to a sentient cane toad. Everyone in the room froze in place. "Mr. Bighead?" Said Rocko confused.

"Rocko?" Relied Mr. Bighead. "What's going on here?"

Lisa took charge and approached the Interocitor beside Rocko. "I built a machine that connected to your dimension. It appeared to have sucked… uhhh, Rocko was it?" Rocko nodded. "They were just about to leave." But Mr. Bighead's response wasn't what anyone had expected. He broke out into a loud, maniacal laughter.

"Leave!?" He laughed again. "Fat chance! Now I can finally be rid of you. For good!" Bellowed Mr. Bighead as he pulled his head back through the screen. An ax flying out in a circle and landing blade first into the machine. Destroying it. Both Rocko and Lisa let out a scream of horror and rushed up to the machine.

"No NO! My invention! It's ruined!" She cried. Lisa and Rocko began to sift through the parts of the destroyed machine. It was about this time that Heffer decided to try to lighten the mood. Much to everyone's dismay.

"Aww cheer up guys. It's not so bad." He said in his usual optimistic tone. Rocko lunged onto Heffer and pulled at his suspenders.

"Not so bad!? What do you mean!? We're stuck here! Stuck here forever!" He shouted in frustration.

"On the contrary, Mr. Rocko." Chimed Lisa. She stood from the rubble of her invention and appeared to be back to her usual demeanor. "It should be a relatively simple fix. Could only take a few hours to do so. Please, be patient while I work." She finished. Rocko climbed off of his friend with a sigh of relief.

"Okay guys, time to go. Let Lisa work." Called out Lori. Most of the children took off while some stayed.

One in particular who took off was Filburt. He glanced around the room nervously. Peering out into the hallway like a monster was chasing him. "Oh gee. I need to find a bathroom. This place is crawling with germs.." He slowly made his way out in his usual timid fashion. "Bathroom. Dirty. Wash your hands." He sang off. Next came the sound of a large rumble.

The gurgling rumble belonged to Heffer as he placed his hands over his stomach. "Gee crossing universes can sure make a guy hungry. What's there to eat?" He asked to no one in particular.

The second oldest of the Loud children, Leni, began to bounce up and down in excitement. "Oh! Oh! I can make you some smoothies! I'm really good at those!"

"Smoothies!" Cheered Heffer as he followed Leni towards the kitchen. That left Rocko with a white haired boy in an orange polo.

"Sooo…" Began Lincoln. "Your friends?"

"Yup." Replied Rocko. "Your sisters?"

"Yup."

"Please, gentlemen. I am trying to work! Go do stuff that wallabies and eleven year old boys do." Shouted Lisa as lit a blowtorch. Lincoln and Rocko took that as an opportunity to leave. What waited in store at The Loud House, was something that Rocko and his friends will never forget.

Like "The Knight and the Genie" this is an overhaul rewrite of a story I was proud of but never liked how I initially wrote it.
