Ramon sees his only son struggling, making his heartbreak. He can see that Eddie won't tell them anything that happened over their roof. Ramon had failed as a father to his children and now is paying the price. He's getting a second chance with his children and doesn't want to mess this up. He sees Buck dancing with Eddie, and the two men love each other but won't make a move. Eddie walks to the table for a drink.
"Why don't you ask him on a date already?" Ramon questions his son. Eddie looks at him with surprise.
"Buck won't date me," Eddie says. He knows that Buck loves him but is not in love with him. Eddie loves him too, and maybe a little in love with him. However, he doesn't want to risk his relationship with Buck, so he won't tell him. Ramon smiles sadly at this.
"You deserve to be happy as well, Eddie. Buck isn't the only one in the world," Ramon reminds his son. Eddie smiles at him.
"I know. It's hard, but I don't think I want to date just to be with someone. I'm fine with being by myself. I have the relationships I want, and I don't think dating someone just to be with someone is fair to a person who wants more," Eddie says. Ramon nods in understanding.
"Take care of yourself, and be happy. That's what I want for all three of you. If you are happy by yourself, I'm happy for you. Are you ever lonely?" Ramon asks his son. Eddie has a slight smile that answers the father's question.
"You can have friends outside of work," Ramon says. Eddie nods.
"I do. I have friends outside of work," Eddie says, and Ramon smiles.
"I can't undo what I have done to you in the past, but I want to make it up to you now. If you ever need to talk, I am here. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed someone," Father says to his son. Eddie leans into his dad. The men hold each other for a time.
"Dad! Buck's being weird!" Christopher's voice pulls Eddie away from his dad. He sees Buck doing his tricks.
"Buck! Stop teasing Christopher!" Eddie yells at the blond.
"I'm not teasing him, Eds. I'm showing him a magic trick," Buck calls out, making Eddie roll his eyes.
"Stop it," Eddie says, making Buck sigh. The blond knows that Eddie's in love with him but won't make a move. He told Eddie that he wasn't in love with Eddie, and that wasn't a lie. He loves his boys, but Eddie's his best friend. He sees Eddie and his dad talking and is happy with the reconnection between father and son.
"You know that you can date other people, Eddie," Buck says to him. Eddie nods at him. Not looking his way. They're separating, and that hurts Buck. Eddie doesn't tell Buck things anymore.
"I don't want to date other people. I'm happy with my life," Eddie says.
"Eddie," Buck says.
"It's not about you, Buck. It's about me. I don't want to date, just to be with someone that doesn't love me back. I'm happy to be alone," Eddie says. Buck nods.
"I'm always here for you. You know that, right, Eddie?" Buck asks. Eddie smiles.
"I know. Thank you," Eddie says, walking away. Buck knows they are not that close anymore, but they are still close enough to be friends. There are times that Buck has wished to be in love with Eddie because Eddie is what Buck wants. But Buck's into women and not men.
When Eddie got home, he was by himself. Christopher is with Buck for the night, and Eddie's happy. Feelings are coming, and water is in his eyes. He cries because the relationship with Buck has ended in a way he never wanted but needed to go. They will be friends, and that's it. Nothing more.
