Authors note: this is the chapter where things get a little out of hand for our man Wally. There's something dark rising in Gotham and we find out what riiiiiggghtt now.
(August 1, 2015: the Cave Medical Ward)
As Wally walked into the room Dick had a bandage wrapped around his head and he was hooked up to an IV. He looked a little groggy but he was talking to Artemis he had a grin on his face even though it wasn't a big as his normal one. "Hey Dick, how are you feeling man," Wally asked. "My head kills and my jaw is definitely going to bruise just in time for my Wayne Charity Ball appearance tonight" as he finished he playfully glared at Artemis and fake fainted while muttering something about his face being broken. "He's fine I barely kicked him" Artemis laughed. If Wally had come to the realization he had a few minutes prior, he would've laughed along with them at the sight of Dick vying to be the center of attention. Wally sighed heavily as he mustered enough courage to ask "Hey Artemis can I talk to you for a second and we can let Dick rest a bit". "Of course babe" she answered. Wally led them into an empty room and closed the door. "Wally what's going on, you've been acting weird all day". She looked at me with a raised eyebrow. Wally sighed and looked at the wall behind Artemis so he didn't have to look her in the eye, "Artemis, I have to talk to you about something". She motioned with her hand for him to spit it out already then he said, "Are you in love with Nightwing". He realized then and there he had barely spoken in a whisper and she looked confused and was about to ask something when he just exploded. "Are you in love with Dick!" He didn't notice how loud he had said it and bud this time he had a gleam of hurt and anger behind his green eyes. He finally looked back to his girlfriend who's mouth was slightly open from the fact he had said let alone, shouted at her. "I ..just have to know Artemis," Wally said looking at nothing but the floor. "Where in the fuck did you come up with that accusation Wally?" she asked with a little bit of hurt and anger over being accused and shouted at. "There are tons of examples arty, you both are from Gotham, you and he always spent days in a row together because you went to the same school, he told you secret identity faster than he told me." He said. "Holy shit Artemis you won't even talk about the time you and he were the last ones when the reds attacked the Cave, he always asks you you spar with him and for demonstrations for the team, he never gets angry or upset after you sometimes beat him and that's weird for him". Wally was breathing heavily and getting angrier by the second as he kept rambling on. "You always watch him do gymnastics and he watches you practice archery, you're always smiling when you're with him, he flashes you that smile he has and fuck Artemis; he used to have a crush on you for TWO AND A HALF YEARS!". By the time Wally had finished his long emotional rant he had a few tears running down his cheeks and eyes narrowed at his unsuspecting girlfriend, waiting for a response. "Wally.." she said in a whisper but loud enough for him to hear. "Y-y-you're overreacting I don't love him, at least not like that" she managed to stutter out. In reality, Artemis knew about Nightwing's old crush on her, even if it was painfully obvious then if he still felt that way he did a damn good job of hiding it. The wheels were turning in her head and she was trying to erase the thought that she did love him. Wally shaking her shoulders snapped her out of her thoughts and back to an angry hurt Wally. "...hello, Artemis what the hell answer me". He said angrily. "Wally I didn't hear you back off a bit you're overwhelming me," she said as she brushed off his arms and crossed hers across her chest. "I asked then why would I come to this conclusion if it weren't true Arty, you're supposed to love me, all I've done is love you.." he trailed off and his fists gripped right by his waist in anger. "Wally you're being stupid, why would I love Dick.." she trailed off as the dots in her head were starting to connect as they once had for Wally. She looked back to her boyfriend as she started fidgeting with the WayneTech smartwatch that Dick had given her actually and winced as Wally started to say something as she wouldn't fight it. "If you don't have anything to say I'm just gonna go," he said quietly as he turned to open the door. Artemis thought about saying something but she couldn't as new feelings started to swirl around in her head as she got lightheaded. She watched Wally just walk away toward the Zeta Tubes without even a quick goodbye. She looked kinda sad but more curious about why Dick hadn't told her his feelings at all in the past five years. Recognized: Kid Flash B02 the Cave computer announced. Artemis shook her head to free herself from going down the rabbit hole in her mind as she unconsciously walked back to the room where Dick was. She made mental note to talk to Dick about this later as she entered his medical room and all she found only an empty bed with the blankets thrown over the side. She looked around the room puzzled as to where Dick could've gone in his state. She checks the bathroom the changing room and then the sides as she shook her head and started to walk toward the kitchen. Artemis was nearing the entrance to the kitchen she heard Dick's laughter and she felt her smile begin to creep back. She heard a loud crash as she rushed into the room she couldn't believe what she was witnessing.
Authors note: this chapter got intense real quick huh? I didn't include the beginning of the infamous villain plot because I want to establish the rift between Wally and Artemis. Next chapter there will be a pretty big part explaining the plot. Chapter 3 will be up within the week. Peace
