Change of pace
Love, attractions, romantic feelings, these were things that some people had the luxury of being so sure on in their simplicity. For others however, those things were more complicated, and liked to make life difficult.
For Bobby Santiago, his love life seemed simple on the surface. He loved his girlfriend Lori Loud with all his heart, and she loved him. Their relationship was a strong one, neither one able to see their life without the other. But if you dug deeper into Bobby's psyche, you'd find feelings and attractions for people that the young man kept secret. Bobby knew that Lori would kill him if she ever found out about where his eyes and mind wandered when they weren't preoccupied with the girl. It wasn't like he loved Lori any less, he just happened to harbor feelings for other people that were always there, buried beneath the surface no matter how much he tried to deny or ignore them. It wasn't normal to feel the things he did, Bobby knew that, but he couldn't change how he felt, all he could do was choose how he acted with those feelings, or didn't act as things stood.
Him and Lori had been together for nearly three years at this point, Lori was just about ready to head off to college and Bobby was still trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life. Lori was currently visiting the Santiago residence, with her younger brother Lincoln in tow. The pair were going to be staying with the Santiago's in their apartment over the weekend, a little trip before the school season started and made getaways like this more difficult. Lincoln was excited to hang out with Ronnie-Anne and the friends she made since moving to the city like Sid Chang. Lori however, had a mission on the trip: Get to the bottom of why Bobby had been acting weird for the past few months.
It was something she'd been noticing over their phone and video calls for a bit now. It seemed like Bobby had been distracted, something weighing on his mind half the time he would be talking to her. But Lori wasn't convinced, she felt like there was something else going on and she planned to ask him about it face to face.
Pulling into a parking spot near the Casagrande family's bodega, where the apartments were located above, Lori turned her new car off and hopped out to grab her bag. "You ready to see your girlfriend again Linc?" Lori asked her brother with a smirk, knowing full well that the two weren't together but loving to still tease him about it. "She's not my girlfriend!" Lincoln couldn't help but blush as the thought passed through his mind before he quickly shook his head. The familiar chime of the bell above the front door alerted Bobby to the fresh arrivals. The man looked over as Lincoln walked in, with Lori appearing shortly afterwards. "Hey Linc, mind taking my bag upstairs when Ronnie shows up? I wanted to stay here with Bobby until he can take a break". Lori asked as she handed her bag out for her brother to take. There was a moment of hesitation but Lincoln reluctantly took the bag. "Yea sure, no problem". Lincoln replied.
