"Tilda!" Seth called.
"Coming!" Tilda called back.
Tilda walked into the living room and saw Seth standing there together with an orange haired woman. Before Tilda could say anything, the orange haired woman stormed over to her and hugged her.
"This is my wife Becky," Seth chuckled.
"I figured," Tilda chuckled too. "Nice to meet you."
"You too, love," Becky said. "You're very pretty. I love the edgy hairstyle."
"Thank you. I did it myself," Tilda said.
"That's cool," Becky said.
Seth stretched his neck to look over Tilda. He expected someone else to be there.
"Where's the gartner?" Seth asked.
"His name is Roman," Tilda said.
"I know," Seth smirked. "Where is he?"
"He's at work," Tilda said.
"I thought you might have moved him in by now," Seth said.
"Give it a rest. It's only been three weeks," Tilda said.
"But you've seen him everyday for three weeks," Seth said.
"Does he ever shut up?" Tilda looked at Becky.
"Nope, never," Becky laughed. "Seth, let her figure it out herself. She's okay."
Becky walked over to Seth and gave him a quick kiss. As if he had been summoned, Roman came walking in through the door that exact moment.
"There he is," Seth said.
"I remember you," Roman smiled. "This must be your wife then."
"I am," Becky said. "Hi, I'm Becky."
"I'm Roman," Roman said.
Roman walked over to Tilda and gave her a kiss.
"I'm done for today," Roman said.
"And you stink," Tilda giggled. "Take a shower."
Roman looked over at Seth who just nodded. Of course Roman could shower there. There was no point in him driving home to do so when they had all planned on hanging out tonight.
"I'm gonna walk down to the grocery store and buy some lentils. I completely forgot about your meat allergy until I arrived. I'll make lentil steaks for dinner," Seth said.
"That sounds great," Tilda said.
"I'll stay here with Tilda. It'll give us a chance to get to know each other," Becky said.
Seth nodded, gave Becky a quick kiss, and walked towards the grocery store. He walked into the grocery store, greeted Hunter, and bought a bag of red lentils. When he walked out, a tall, bald man with a full beard and wearing sunglasses came walking towards him. The man was talking on his phone.
"Of course I hacked the system. That's what I do," he said.
Seth didn't think much about those words. He had lentil steak recipes on his mind. He was about to pass the stranger when the other man stopped him by placing a hand on his chest. Seth looked down at the hand. This stranger had some audacity. He looked up at the stranger but couldn't tell if he was being watched behind those sunglasses or not.
"I saw her get off here. I'm gonna find her," the stranger said.
The man hung up, removed his hand from Seth's chest, and turned his phone around. Seth was staring at a picture of Tilda.
"Have you seen this woman?" The stranger asked.
"No," Seth answered.
The stranger took off his sunglasses and Seth finally recognized him from the pictures. It was Dean. Somehow Dean had made his way there in search of Tilda.
"Are you sure?" Dean asked.
"I just arrived with my wife an hour ago. You're the first person I meet besides Hunter in there. Why? Has she run away from the police or something? Are you a bounty hunter?" Seth asked.
"She stole my dog," Dean said.
"Must be some dog," Seth said.
"It is," Dean said. "Keep an eye out. I rented number 53 in case you see her. It's very important to me to get my dog back."
"Will do," Seth said.
Dean remained standing. Seth had to pretend everything was alright. He did everything he could to remain calm and casually walk away while taking out his phone and googling Dean. He had never thought to do so. He had been to wrapped up in getting Tilda out of there that he never stopped to figure out who Dean actually was and what he did for a living. Once the coast was clear, he ran the rest of the way.
When he finally entered the house, he heard all three of them laughing. He went into the living room and found Tilda and Roman on the couch, and Becky on a chair. They all seemed so happy and carefree. He was about to ruin the moment.
"Hi, love," Becky said.
"We agreed on playing twister tonight. Roman's sister has it. He'll go get it," Tilda said.
"We can't," Seth said.
"Oh, give it a rest, love. Of course we can. I know how much you can stretch," Becky smirked.
"I don't wanna hear it," Tilda laughed.
"No, you don't understand," Seth tried.
"We should get more board games and some playing cards too," Becky said.
"I'm sure my sister has a lot more than twister," Roman said.
They weren't listening. Seth couldn't blame them for that. They had no idea of the danger lurking outside.
"Dean is here!" Seth yelled.
They all stopped talking and just stared at him. He focused his eyes on Tilda.
"I just ran into him at the grocery store. He's here looking for you. Why didn't you tell me he's a fucking computer mastermind? He hacked the fucking train station cameras and saw you get off in this town, and for some fucked up reason he happened to rent a home in this area. He's in number 53," Seth said.
"I thought he would only check the security cameras at home," Tilda said.
"Well, he hacked every fucking camera in the town you lived, Tilda! He's here! He found you!" Seth said angrily.
Roman stood up. He was seeing red and wanted to hurt this man who had hurt Tilda. She grabbed his wrist and shook her head no. He sat back down and looked at her.
"I gotta protect you somehow," Roman said.
"Does he know I am here?" Tilda asked.
"No, he's looking for you. He showed me a picture on his phone and said you stole his dog," Seth said.
"I am his dog," Tilda said.
"Don't say that," Roman said.
"It's the truth. I'm his fucking dog," Tilda said.
Tilda started crying and Roman pulled her into his arms. He had watched her blossom over the last three weeks, and now it felt like the rug was being pulled away from under her. He had no idea what to do.
"You're 36. He can't make you go with him," Becky said.
"Not willingly," Tilda said. "But I won't be given a choice if he finds me."
"Let me break his fucking fingers," Roman said.
"If you hurt him, the cops will be involved. I'll lose you. I need you here with me," Tilda said.
It meant so much to Roman hearing her say that she needed him with her. Three weeks ago she would have asked him to leave and told him not to get involved. So much had changed so fast. She didn't want to go back. She wanted to stay here with him.
"I'm right here," Roman looked over at Seth. "You said you met him at the grocery store?"
"Yes, he walked in as I was leaving," Seth said.
"Fuck!" Roman said. "There's a chance Hunter might have told him where she is then. We need to leave now."
