Smoke And Mirrors
Chapter 20
Authors note : Thank my readers settle in.
Days Later
There seems to be a kind of order in the universeā¦in the movement of the stars and the turning of the Earth and the changing of the seasons. But human life is almost pure chaos. Everyone takes his stance, asserts his own right and feelings, mistaking the motives of others, and his own.
I had to admit i had a strong layer of hesistation when Nathan mentioned all of coming to the beach house after i got out of the hospital but i've always loved this house and the memories we made here. It was comforting being so close to the water and having all this privacy.
I was surprised when i got into the master bedroom. Ready to unpack my things. When Nathan announced i would have the room to myself.
He revealed us sharing a bed now after everything. Was something he would have to earn back.
...
"I want to make sand castles. And go in the water and the board walk!" Austin exclaimed excitedly.
Nathan laughed and smiled warmly.
"You'll do all that son. But you have to wait for Nadia and Dawn." Nathan replied.
When Rachel announced she was leaving town. Nathan hadn't realized how soon that would happen.
Dawn had walked home from school as she did some days.
And didn't find her mom or her things anywhere.
She had called her dad in tears.
After picking his daughter. Nathan decided to be honest with her.
And explained that Rachel was gone. She left and he was very sure she wasn't coming back.
He saw something change in Dawn. She announced she didn't want to bring up her mom again. And since then she hadn't.
Nadia wasn't sure what to make of this whole family bonding trip.
And her friend Dawn coming along.
But she was deciding to stay hopeful and keep a close eye on her mom. She was finally feeling better and she didn't want her to get sick again.
...
Nathan ended up changing his cellphone number. After getting back to back calls and texts from his parents that he didn't respond too.
They way he viewed his parents had changed. He didn't want to be around them either anymore.
