Chapter 6. Christmas break and rituals.
The information about the heroic deed that the golden boys had achieved flew faster than the speed of light, and when morning came, Sat the Slytherin around their table in the great hall and talked about it while eating breakfast.
"They said that Potter used the killing curse on the troll, rubbish if you ask me," said a girl in the fourth year.
"I heard that he cast magic from his hands and that it was the same magic that he used to destroy, you know who", scoffed her friend.
Jakob looked around, heard the different stories, and turned to Draco, Theo and Blaze.
"At least this table does not believe the blatant lies."
Jakob snorted.
"Please, I have heard so many stories that Merlin himself would look like a mudblood." Said Draco in response.
Jake glanced at the teacher's table and saw that the professors had a sombre look, except one with moon eyes and spectacles.
The headmaster observed the students whispering, and Jakob noticed that he seemed pleased.
The Slytherin boy then skimmed over to the hourglasses. What he saw made him so enraged that he almost wanted to hex the old man.
Gryffindor had earned 75 house points in one night.
Jakob gritted his teeth.
" This Bloody idiot actually did it", he hissed.
Pansy, who sat beside him, looked at what Jakob was glaring at and saw the angry boy clench his fist.
Pansy, who had never seen Jakob this angry in public, worried about what the Slytherin boy would do, put a hand on his arm And whispered in a low voice.
" I know it is not fair, but don't do anything rushed. We will take revenge on someone."
Daphne, who sat in front of them whispering with Tracey, glimpsed the touch with jealousy in her eyes.
Jakob withdrew his anger and then stood up, leaving the great hall.
The next class was herbology. Jakob did his tasks and avoided talking to his friends, knowing that he might utter something from which the professor would take house points.
When class was finished, he told Draco that he felt ill and needed to take the day off sick.
He took his bag and walked the hallways, thinking about what his plans for the future were.
It had happened so much recently, and Jakob wondered why he did not regret not aiding that Finnigan boy.
"He brought that on himself," he said out loud. Jakob then looked up into the castle ceiling and wondered.
Who had a worse punishment? Finnigan, who got the physical punishment or his friends who had to witness it.
Soon Jakob heard some girls laughing, and when he turned his gaze, he saw Hermione walking with Ivy and one brown-skinned girl.
She seemed to appreciate her situation but did not talk much, only laughed.
When he saw that Ivy met his gaze, Jakob stopped, and she gave him a slight nod.
"Hermione, let me tell you one more thing, i. Always get hungry at 4 in the afternoon. Is that not weird?
Jakob got the hint and started to walk again. Hermione, who had been too busy looking at both girls, saw Jakob walking past them and mouthed," thank you."
Jakob's lip twitched, but he otherwise ignored her.
"Room at 10", she turned and mouthed as the group of girls walked a few meters further.
He gave a slight nod to confirm that he knew what she meant.
When the clock showed almost four, the Slytherin boy stood furthest in the third corridor leaning on an old wooden door, waiting with his bag hung over one shoulder.
He saw a redheaded girl walking with quick steps, looking around to see if someone was following her.
"Why the Bloody hell are we meeting here. Someone might see us?" Said the Potter twin and frowned at him.
"Don't worry, Potter" we are on the third floor, remember?
When Ivy looked confused, Jakob rolled his eyes.
"It's forbidden, you deaf garden gnome. Did you not hear the headmaster's opening speech?"
As she remembered, her eyebrows rose.
"Hh, yeh, you are right, don't call me a deaf gnome, you horrible dung beetle."
"Oh, the Gryffindor golden girl shows her true colours, and I know I'm right."
Ivy rolled her eyes and decided not to continue with the insults.
"So I kept my end of the bargain, and both Ron and Harry have stopped with their antics," she said fast, looking around Jakob to see if he had the cloak.
"Antics?" said Jakob feeling a bit irritated.
"They were making her life miserable."
" I know, and I know it was wrong. As you can see, Hermione is with us now and won't have any more trouble."
Jakob gave her a slight nod.
"Yes, I could see that, but tell me. What did you say to make the golden boys stop overnight?"
Ivy looked at him, deciding if she would give him the long or short story.
" I gave my brother a piece of my mind before telling him that there was a student that had found the cloak, and if he did not stop, the student would burn it down."
Jakob clapped his hand slowly.
"Good job, Potter, finally finding that bravery inside you. It only took a Slytherin and some threats to get the ball running.
The redhead glared at him.
"Can you give it to me now, Quade? I have done my part. Now it's your time to do what you promised."
Jakob opened his bag, revealing the cloak to Ivy.
As she was about to accept it, he pulled it back.
"It's not my business if you stop talking with Granger after I give you the cloak.
But if your brother seems to change his mind or get persuaded by that idiot Weasley to start something with Granger girl. I will get my revenge."
He handed over the cloak to Ivy, who nodded in response.
" He won't," she said fast, seizing the cloak and then continued.
"Seems like the troll he defeated yesterday gave him and Ron the satisfaction they needed. They did not really care about Granger anyways."
Jakob looked a the girl with an amusing smile.
"tell me, what has your brother told you about the situation with the troll?"
"he only told me that he battled it and that Ron helped him, making the troll focus on him so that Harry could bring down the final blow."
Jakob showed a glance that Ivy could not interpret.
"Why do you ask?" she questioned.
"Nothing, just a lot of rumours going around."
I need Granger to look into what happened to the Finnigan boy.
Ivy then held the cloak in her hand as if it were her baby that had finally returned home.
" Ivy, one last thing. If something were to happen to the granger girl again," said Jakob, raised his wand, and flicked it.
The cloak burst into white flames, and Ivy dropped it in shock.
"Jakob cancelled the link and looked at Ivy with s Grimm stare.
" I can burn it whenever I want. You could be on the other side of the world, but I only need my hand and wand if I decide to burn that cloak to ashes. "
" How did you do that?" the redhead said in shock.
" If I told you that, I would not be much of a Slytherin" the boy then walked away humming a happy tune as he strode out from Ivy's view.
Ivy collected the cloak again and hated Jakob more every day but could not say she wasn't impressed by how he sometimes thought.
Jakob had one appointment left that day.
When the clock was 10, he stood outside the the room of requirement, panting.
" one day," he said, heaving in air.
" I will end that Bloody cat. And I will make sure that Squibb watches."
As he was finished cursing the caretaker, the door opened and out leapt a Hermione who Hugged Quade so hard that he almost fell backwards.
"Not here," he hissed, and when he realised that she would not let go, he carried her back inside the room.
"You can let me go now," said Jakob, and after a while, he succeeded in realising her grip on him.
He saw tears running down her chin and was ready to take out his wand and end that cloak once and for all.
"Thank you, Jakob. You don't understand how happy I am right now. Everything is better than I could ever imagen." Hermione proceeded to hug him again, this time feeling the anger wash away with her telling him it was happiness streaming from her eyes.
He could feel his arms moving on their own and Hugging her back.
"You are welcomed, Granger," he said, patting her back softly.
"But if someone ever does anything to you again, you come to me, and I will make sure they never do it again."
Hermione released him and backed away a little.
"Jakob, why are you so nice to me? Being a Slytherin and everything. Wouldn't it make more sense for you to dislike me?"
Jakob shrugged and sat down at his usual place on the couch with Hermione beside him.
"Many believe that all Slytherins are evil.
And while it's true that we usually have the ambition and cunning to see that magic is magic, even if it's dark or light.
Not all of us are genuinely good people."
"You aren't evil," she stated, smiling at him.
If you only knew the things I have done, thought Jakob.
The boy then sat and listened to Hermione ranting about the new friends she had made, how her studying was taking a hit now that she could not take the same time. Jakob listened for a while, not minding her fast-paced talking and eager to get everything out.
"Hermione, I have a task for you," said Jakob when she was done.
"Anything!" she beamed.
"I need you to find out what happened to the Finnigan boy."
Hermione looked a bit confused.
"I was told he injured himself, and when his parents arrived, they heard there was a troll in the school, and his father was outraged and pulled him out."
"Who told you this?" asked Jakob looking firmly at the girl.
"Patil told me, the girl you saw me with today, remember? she also said that Dumbledore tried everything to calm the dad, but he would not listen."
Jakob turned to her.
"Hermione, don't ask me how I know, but the story you were told is a lie.
I need you to dig around and see if you can find out the truth."
The bushy-haired girl nodded and had that look on her face that only she could make when thinking.
"I will try my best, Jakob."
They decided to meet here at least once a week, and Jakob said he would come up with something during the Christmas break so they could communicate when exactly to meet.
" I'm sorry about this, but don't ever talk to me when my friends are around. You won't like what I say back to you."
Hermione seemed to shrink in her seat.
" Why can't we just be friends? Is it so hard to believe that Slytherin and Gryffindor students be friends?"
Jakob sighed and decided to tell her.
" Hermione listens," putting a hand over hers and observing her.
Jake then described what purebloods, half-bloods, and mudblood were, and as he talked, he saw her face turn confused.
"So you can't talk to me because your friends don't want you to talk to someone with muggle parents?"
"Do you remember when I talked to the headmaster and said that you were better than a blood traitor?" Hermione nodded.
"My father was not happy with me for speaking like that. he nearly disinherited me from my house and-"
"Was it him that gave you that broken lip?" asked Hermione with a horrified look? When she got the confirmation she needed, she gasped.
"Jakob, he can't do that to you. That's child abuse. If the professors were to hear this, maybe someone could help you-"
"Hermione, they won't do anything." Declared Jakob with a tired sigh.
"This is not the muggle world. If someone interferes in the family business, they risk being charged. If they go against an ancient noble family, they risk time in Azkaban."
"but his hitting you!"
Jakob, who started to get annoyed that she would not let it go, said in an irritated voice.
"you saw that McGonagall witnessed the same thing as you did, and she did not raise a finger. she knew that it was not in her place to do or say anything."
The girl looked away, knowing that she would not win this discussion.
Jakob gave her a sad smile.
"He thinks he knows what's best for me, so you understand now why you can't talk to me Infront of anyone who could say something to my father, right?
Hermione nodded, and Jakob saw tears forming again.
"Please don't cry, we will at least meet once a week, and now you have other people you can be around."
Granger nodded and laid her head on his shoulder.
They both looked into the fire, not saying anything more, just enjoying their short time left.
The first quidditch Game of the year Started, and Jakob was standing on the bleacher with his house.
They all looked on as the Slytherins were making goal after goal.
" I will try out next year," Draco said over the shouts.
Jakob looked at his best friend, who was green over half his face.
"yeah, you will be great!"
" shouldn't you try out too? You are better than me on a broom, and father would see that we have the best equipment-"
"I like flying," said Jakob cutting Draco in mid-speech."
"But I don't really fancy being tied down by regulations."
Seeing Draco not agree and taking a breath to say something, Jakob continued.
"And I wouldn't want to take the spotlight from my best friend, would I," said Jakob laughing.
" You could at least try out for reserve?" asked Draco with the last bit of hope in his eyes.
Jakob sighed
"Okay, but only if you make the team. If you don't, I will drop out before they can say, snitch."
Draco grinned and put out his hand.
"Promise?"
Jakob shook it.
"Promise."
Then they saw the Gryffindor seeker, the black-haired boy guessed was a fourth year getting hit by a bludger and falling down on the ground. The crowd of Slytherin was cheering and applauding the beater, who took a graceful bow while the Gryffindors were shouting and booing.
Marcus had flown over to the beater, whispered something, laughed, and then patted him on the shoulder.
The whistle sounded from an angry madam hooch.
The Slytherins got a penalty, but that did not stop them from catching the snitch and winning with 210 points to Gryffindors 20.
The party in the Slytherin common room was one Jakob would never forget.
The upper years were partying the most, drinking fire whiskey and dancing to the music from charmed instruments in a corner.
Draco had tried to take some of the liquid gold, but Amy grabbed him in his ear and dragged him off to his room.
Jakob had Been talking To Amy, the fifth year who had one or two fire whiskey in her.
They laughed and talked almost like he was her friend instead of a.. pet? Or maybe a test subject?
When the clock hit 10, the first and second years were prompted to bed by the perfects, and Jakob lay in bed, talking with pansy long into the night about the game and everything else.
" Are you celebrating the winter solstice with us this year?" pansy asked while yawning.
" I think so", said Jake mimicking her gesture.
" We will meet at Malfoys as always, right?"
"yeah, I love the parties there and the decoration they do," said pansy closing her eyes and smiling.
Jakob, who had done the same, said the last word before they both slept.
"We need to close the curtains."
When the snow fell, the war against the Gryffindors began. They had different spots they were holding, and only when the Weasley twins joined the fight did the Slytherin retreat.
But classes continued as always, and when the Christmas break was upon, Jakob could not wait to meet his sister, Susie and Ella again.
He knew his father would be proud of him for being first in his years at all the subjects besides flying. The Potter boy had secured that one.
Jake sat with his Slytherin friends in a compartment on the train back home.
They all discussed what they thought the Malfoy party would look like and what they would otherwise do during the break.
They all would meet at Malfoy manor on the winter solstice at least. That made everyone's goodbye at the train station a little easier.
When Draco and Jakob had collected their bags, they saw that Thomas, together with Lucius, Narcissa and Emma, was waiting for them.
The two boys walked over and greeted their family first before small talking with each other.
"Jakob has promised me that if I get into the Slytherin team next year, he two will try out. Said Draco to his father Proudly. Lucius nodded.
"Of course, you both will enter, and I will ensure you have the best supplies.
Thomas nodded in thanks and turned to his son.
"Why are you only entering if young Draco enters? Don't you have a mind of your own child?"
Jakob nodded.
"Father, I was not thinking of entering quidditch initially, but Draco convinced me to do it."
Thomas chuckled, but the Quade heir noticed his father's stance becoming stiffer.
"And what did you plan on doing instead? Playing some silly card games where the cards explode?"
Jakob knew his father's voice was polite because they were in public.
"To be the greatest sorcerer in the history of magic, you might need to sacrifice some things to achieve those goals. Quidditch won't help me to that part of greatness, father."
Thomas seemed pleased by the answer and ruffled the boy's hair while chuckling at Malfoys, who looked at Jakob both smiling.
"You have a blessing Thomas, a boy with the determination to see your name written in the history books. Stated Lucius giving Jakob an approving nod.
" Well then, don't let me stop you. Remember your last name when you stand with the world in your hands, young boy." Said Thomas, now in a better mood.
" Always," said Jakob in determination.
Emma, who was rolling her eyes at the sickly sweet situation that was going on, told the families that it was best if they moved along so that the preparations for the home parties weren't delayed.
They all said their goodbyes, and Thomas, with a pop, apparated with his two children holding his arm back to the Quade mansion.
As Jakob returned, he was greeted by Susie and Ella standing in the dining hall with a poster hanging down from the roof that read, welcome back, Jakob and Emma!
Jakob gave them both a hug, and they sat down for dinner.
" tell me everything about Hogwarts," said Ella, who looked at Jakob with awe in her eyes.
" I don't really know if I should, it might take away the magic," said Jakob and winked.
"You will see soon enough," he continued when he saw Ella's look of disappointment.
"You will start there next year, remember?"
Ella nodded so energic that Jakob saw her black hair swaying back and forth.
"Just make sure you are put in Slytherin, and I will fix the rest," Jakob winked.
" So, little brother, made any new friends?"
" Well, I met someone who actually reminded me of you." Emma looked a little more interested, and Jakob continued.
"Her name is Frome, Amy Frome. As Jakob said those words, his father looked up.
Frome? Is her father Antony Frome?
Jakob shrugged.
" I don't know, really. She knew my name, but I had not heard about hers."
Thomas looked like he was deep in thought before asking.
" the lass, does she have curly black hair?"
Jakob nodded,
"How did you know that, father?"
"Jakob, I won't tell you who to befriend and don't. That's why I don't aid you either. You must find your own way. But I will say this, and you decide what to make of the information."
Jakob sat straighter on his chair, as did the other occupants in the room. If it was not politics or the Dark Lord, Thomas had never injected himself into a conversation before.
"Frome is a very dark family, the Quades are no stranger to that magic, but we also control magic and don't let it possess us."
" The Frome house has had occasions where family members willingly submit to the dark illness and treat it like a blessing."
Jakob heard Emma gasp and saw her putting her hand in Infront of her mouth.
"I'm sorry father, but I don't know of that illness. Can you explain further?"
Thomas observed Jakob for a few seconds before he decided to tell him.
"Every wizard has both light and darkness within them. Even Dumbledore, that Bloody idiot, has darkness, more than he would care to say."
Jakob's eyes widened a bit, and Thomas saw everyone in the room listening.
"When a wizard uses dark magic, a part of that magic is stored within the darkness. That darkness will expand if fed too much and in a short amount of time. If using the right spells, a wizard corrupts himself, changing his features and letting the darkness take over."
Jakob gulped.
"What will happen if a wizard gets to the point of no return?" Asked Jakob, not sure if he was ready to hear the answer.
" Something that even I won't share at a dinner table. I have given you the information. Now it's you who decides how to act on it.
Jakob nodded and looked over at Emma.
His sister, who still looked a bit shocked and now ill, looked back at her little brother in worry.
Ella and Jakob sat in his room as the evening progressed, skimming through their mountain of chocolate frog cards.
" do you have Alberta Toothill?" Jakob looked up at Ella, who had just eaten one green Birtie botts-flavoured bean and grimaced.
"Ew, it was puke." She said and glanced around her pile of cards.
"I don't think so. How could I not have it?"
Jakob smiled while throwing her the card and asked.
"What do you mean? It's right there."
Ella picked up the card and gave Jakob a hug as thanks.
" Okej, but do you have" she started but was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Mum, look what Jakob gave me. Now l have-" oh dear, that's great, but I think we both need to let Jakob sleep now. He has a lot to do in the morning, said Susie while walking in and hugging him goodnight.
"It's so good to have you back, dear," she said and Jakob Hughes back, feeling like she meant more with that hug but shrugged inwards.
"It's good to be back,"
"We will see you tomorrow, okay?" Said the maid, and Jakob noticed a worried look on her face.
Ella said goodnight, and soon Jakob had fixed himself and was ready to go to sleep.
As he lay in his big bed, he thought it felt much more lonely not having Pansy sleeping next to him.
" If I told her that, she would freak," chuckled Jakob and then his eyes were begging to feel heavier, and he soon fell asleep.
It was still dark outside when he felt someone grabbing his shoulder and shaking him awake.
"Jakob, son, wake up." the boy in question rubbed his eyes and saw his father looking back at him.
" father?"
" You will take on your pants and follow me. You don't need any shirt."
Thomas then walked out, waiting for Jakob to get ready.
The Slytherin boy had a bad feeling about this but would not dare to say anything and did what he was told.
When he came out, his father did not say anything but started walking in the long corridors. Jakob followed him without saying a word.
They walked down the stairs and outside to the backyard, and Jakob, wearing only pants, clasped his arms around himself, feeling the freezing wind and snow hitting him like daggers.
Thomas noticed this and said apologetically.
" I'm sorry, son, if I warm you with magic, you will be filthy, and the runes I painted on you will smudge if you wear clothes."
Jakob looked confused down at his body and saw that runes were covering him in what he imagined was blood.
"Why do I get the feeling I'm being sacrificed" halved jokes Jakob in an attempt to lose the tens mood and calm himself down.
Thomas did not respond and continued walking.
Jakob did not have a good feeling.
When Jakob walked for about a minute, he sensed that he would soon collapse due to the enormous stress his body experienced.
They stopped, and Jakob saw a Pentagram placed on the ground. There was no snow inside or falling on top of it, and Jake could feel magic oozing from it.
"Get inside," said his father and nudged him.
Jakob walked inside the circle and suddenly felt warm again.
"Father, please, can you tell me what we are doing. You are starting to scare me here."
Thomas gave him a nod.
"This is one of the Family's rituals."
Jakob nodded in both relief and understanding.
"This ritual is the beginning for you. To use the grimoire of Quade, you must go through different rites to prove that you are worthy.
If you are, then you will receive gifts. This one,"
Thomas said, pointing at the pentagram. It is called Magicae Et Aetatis. It will boost your magic reserves a lot coming these 3 years, and your body will begin to mature more. To not get destroyed by the magic that will inhabit you.
Jakob nodded, feeling an excited rush through his body. This is what he needed!
" what happens if I'm not worthy?"
Thomas only gave him a firm look.
"you will be, son." his father said and took out his wand, pointing it at Jakob.
The 11yearold soon-to-be 12 felt the grasp of panic when his father uttered those words.
"wait, father, maybe-"
Jakob was cut off, feeling a force pushing him down on his knees and raising his arms to the sides.
The pentagram suddenly burst into flame, and Jakob heard his father chant in a deep voice that the boy did not understand.
Thomas walked around the pentagram, and with the snowstorm getting more violent, the man's beard waved in the wind, but he didn't stop.
The symbols turned black on the boy's skin, and Jakob could feel them trying to dig deeper inside him.
Thomas saw that his son was heaving in breaths and trying to get a hold of his pain. as Thomas Chanted the last part, he watched as he knew what would come next.
"I'm sorry," he said, but those words were lost in the raging storm.
The symbols were now glowing and dug inside the boy's body, which was not visible anymore.
The boy in the middle of the pentagram had tears running down his face but held firm to not scream, to not show weakness.
The symbol was now inside of him, and Jakob's head fell as he lost consciousness, still on his knees and arms raised.
Thomas knew that the ritual was a success and that his son and heir would live.
With a sigh, he walked forward and cut the spell holding his son, but the bearded man halted when he saw that Jakob didn't fall to the ground.
His son was still in the same position.
Thomas looked confused and tried again to cut the spell by flicking his wand, but nothing happened.
"something is wrong," he said and, with wide eyes, ran to where Jakob was sitting.
When Thomas was about to reach Jakob with his hand, he noticed black smoke forming around the boy's skin, which then exploded outwards.
Thomas was thrown back a few meters, losing his breath.
When his father, after a few seconds, got the strength to get up, he saw that Jakob was lying in the pentagram like he was supposed to do.
Thomas walked more carefully in his steps and waved his wand over the boy.
"the ritual is a success, but what did just happen?" he said, examining his boy.
Jakob woke to the sound of someone pushing the curtains aside, and he turned to see that Susie was in an excellent mood this morning.
"ah, Jakob, I see that you have slept well."
Jakob rubbed his eyes and then remembered what had happened the night before.
"Susie, did you know about-"
"You seem hungry, my dear" she cut him off and looked at him with a smile that told Jakob that whatever he was about to say was not for her ears.
Jakob nodded.
"famished."
Susie clapped her hands in delight.
"I will see what we can make for you. Just take your time and rest.
Jakob, who was not tired, got up from his bed.
"Mr quade, your father has said that you need to rest today." The maid said, trying to sound stern but faltering when watching the boy, who she thought a grown a little, walk over to the mirror with a smile on his face.
"I don't feel tired at all," said Jakob studying his whole body to see if there was any change.
With a disappointing sigh, he turned to look at Susie.
"I'm fine, but I'm starving."
As they both entered the dining room, he saw that his father, sister and Ella were eating.
Emma, who sat and looked down at her fruit salad, said with a light chuckle.
"told you he would not wake up. He will probably sleep until tomorrow.
Thomas, who was reading the paper, did not even bother to look up, and Jakob sat down without saying a word.
"I told Emma that I knew you would wake if mother told you that there was breakfast," beamed the girl, making Jakob's big sister turn her gaze.
"How can you already be awake his sister said, forgetting that she held a fork with a piece of honey melon on it.
Thomas, who now looked up, observed his son.
"How are you feeling? Thomas asked while eying Jakob.
"I'm fine," said the boy looking around the table, choosing the toast, egg and beacon as his first victim.
"Emma and Thomas glanced at each other, but Jakob didn't notice it.
They talked for a while about the Malfoy party that would be the day after and what they would do this day.
When everyone saw that Jakob would take more time to finish, only Ella stayed watching her idol eating in astonishment.
Breakfast was finally over, and Jakob spent the day with Emma in the living room as she taught him some spells that she knew would come in handy.
"so it's Alohomora, right." Said Jakob sitting on a chair with his sister in front of him.
The black-haired boy said the incantation and heard the lock that Emma had conjured unlock. The older blonde watched her little brother smile at his accomplishment.
"This Frome you talked about. What is it about her you said reminded her of me?"
Jakob thought for a moment.
"I don't really know. Amy is kind to me and gives me advice but never helps me. Like you do."
"Is she as pretty as me?" Emma said, tossing her head to the side, and Jakob rolled his eyes."
"It's not like that," said Jakob sighing.
"but sometimes she gives me that look. Like.." as Her little brother drifted off caught Emma something in his eyes, which made the big sister instinct kick in.
"I wish to meet her," she said short and firm. Jakob turned to look at his sister in a panic.
"Why? I can't just ask her to meet my family."
"why not?" asked Emma.
"because it's weird!" said Jakob and stood up.
"She is in her fifth year and a prefect. I can't just walk up to her and say, hi, my sister wants to meet you. Can you come over?"
Emma looked at Jakob like he was some kind of idiot.
"Then don't tell her that. Say you told your family about her and that we were impressed by her success and want to discuss a potential future after Hogwarts.
Jakob was about to say something but halted and then looked at his sister.
"That's actually brilliant. But would father agree to that?"
Emma stood up and patted her little brother on the head.
"Of course, he would. If it benefits his business, he usually agrees. And hearing what he said about the girl's family, I think he would want to meet her to see if she was playing nice with his little heir."
Emma then stood up
Will she be present at the party tomorrow?"
"I don't know, but if she is, I'll ask her."
she nodded and walked off.
Jakob sat for a while and continued to train on the new spells.
When Jake got bored, he got up and walked the halls of his mansion, waiting for Ella to be done with her chores.
The boy soon felt that his stomach required food again and strolled to the kitchen, hoping there was something to eat.
When he opened the swing doors, he halted as he heard Susie and Emma talking in hushed voices.
"he is fine, dear you should not worry," Susie said while doing some dishes.
"worry?" hissed Emma, who stood beside her.
"Father said that something dark came out of him and threw him 5 meters back!"
Susie stopped for a second and then continued.
"he is fine today. He is eating like you did, and he is perfectly healthy" The servant nodded to reassure Emma and herself.
"But that's just it," said Emma.
"he should not be, I was in bed for 3 days, and father was in bed 2. Jakob woke up healthier than ever after 4 hours. Something is not right, and even father is worried.
Jakob, who was hiding behind the doors, felt his stomach drop. The hunger had disappeared, and worry started to build inside him. He only had two thoughts swimming around in his mind right now.
Is father worried? What's happening to me?
