Chapter 7: battle for orange town
"Zoro, yamao, can you two take care of buggy's goons?" Luffy asks his two companions. They nod their heads. "Good, I'll take buggy for myself. Nami, how about you steal all their treasure?" Nani's eyes turn into berri signs and immediately she agrees.
The four make their way back to the center of town where buggy and his crew are camped up at. "Alright big nose!" Luffy yells, which causes buggy's crew to freak out. "I'm here to kick your ass!" Luffy declares.
"Who are you calling big nose!?" Buggy yells out clearly pissed off. "If it's a fight you want, then bring it on straw hat!"
"Alright, fire the buggy ball!" Buggy orders, though Luffy uses his gum gum balloon to bounce it back, taking out most of buggy's crew.
Zoro vs. cabaji:
A man on a unicycle approaches zoro. "My name is cabaji, chief of staff of the buggy pirates and I'll be taking you on." He says drawing his sword. "Fine, if I can't take out trash like you then I don't deserve to be called a swordsman." Zoro says wrapping his banadanna around his head and then draws his three swords.
"Arsonist Blazing Breath Technique!" Cabaji calls out breathing fire at zoro. Zoro quickly jumps aside barely avoiding the flames.
"Three sword style: oni giri!" Zoro calls out slashing cabaji in the chest, taking the acrobat down. Zoro sheaths his swords and then turns to watch luffy's fight.
Yamato vs beast tamer Mohji:
"My name is Mohji the beast tamer, me and my pal Ritchie will take you out!" The self proclaimed beast tamer says, while his lion companion simply roars.
Mohji pulls out his whip and cracks it, sending it flying wrapping around yamatos kanabo, while Ritchie charges in at him. Yamato grips the kanabo tight and pulls hard, causing Mohji to crash into Ritchie, knocking the pair to the floor.
Yamato unwraps the whip from his kanabo and then strikes the two on the head for good measure. Yamato then turns over to look at luffy's fight.
Luffy vs buggy:
"You can't beat me strawhat, because I ate the chop chop fruit!" Buggy says laughing maniacally. "You and your pathetic crew will get crushed here!"
Luffy simply picks his nose and flings a booger into the clowns mouth, who begins to gag. "So? I ate the gum gum fruit, and I'm gonna kick your ass!" Luffy yells out. "Gum gum pistol!" He calls out throwing a punch at buggy who splits up causing the attack to miss.
"Hahaha! You'll have to do better then that!" He says as he grabs a few daggers and holds them between his fingers. "Chop chop harpoon!" He yells shooting his hand at Luffy.
Luffy catches the hand barely. Buggy then shoots his wrist out adding weight to it, then he does something else. "Chop chop harpoon-seperate!" He yells causing his fist to seperate, which knocks Luffy down and his hat falls off.
Luffy picks up his bat, however buggy's barrage continues, missing Luffy but he does manage to stab luffy's precious hat.
At seeing his hat messed up Luffy gets enraged. "My hat!" Luffy grabs buggy's hand and squeezes, causing buggy to wince in pain. "I'll show you not to harm my treasure like that, second gear!" He calls out, his skin turning red and steam erupting from his pores.
"Gum gum…… jet pistol!" He calls out slamming his palm into buggy. "Gum gum…. Jet Gatling!" Luffy yells throwing a flurry of punches. Finally he finishes it with a gum gum bazooka, sending the clown flying.
With the three battles won the conflict is over and the four reunite. Luffy however looks noticeably down. "What's wrong Luffy?" Yamato asks his captain.
"That stupid clown ruined shanks hat….." Luffy says staring at it. "I can fix it." Nani's voice cuts in. Luffy looks up at her and smiles wide. "Really??? Thank you!" He says, happily handing his hat to her.
"Oh Nami, were you able to find any treasure?" Luffy asks after she fixes his hat. Nami nods. "That's good, you can keep all of it, all I care about is making sure I can have food." Luffy admits. "And booze." Zoro adds. Luffy and Yamato both nod.
"Say, I have a request." Yamato speaks up finally. "Can we stay the night here? I'd like to talk to Luffy alone about something ." He says. Zoro nods his head. "Sure, I could use some sleep." Nami also agreed, mentioning wanting to count her money.
Later that night Luffy and Yamato are talking alone. "Luffy, I have something I need to tell you." Yamato takes a big breath. "Itraveledbackintimefromovertwoyearsinthefutureandithinkyoudidtoo." He says all in one go.
Luffy just stares at Yamato. "Uhhh, what?" Yamato signs and repeats himself, but slower. "I traveled back in time from over two years in the future from now, and I think you did too. You've mentioned having memories and dreams of people you haven't met right?" Luffy nods his head.
"Now that you mention it, I did seem to recognize you when we first met…." He says to himself. "How did we come back?" He asks Yamato.
"I don't understand it myself, but I do know this is out chance to do things differently. The first time around I wasn't apart of your crew, we met in wano where you battled my father." Luffy nods. Remembering his fight against kaido now. "Did anyone else come back with us?" Luffy asks.
Yamato simply shrugs. "Don't know, but I doubt zoro or Nami have from how they've interfaced with us. This time around though I'll help the crew get stronger. I can help train everyone in the use of haki." Yamato says, offering to do it. "That's a good idea, I haven't used it in so long on purpose, so I think I need to relearn it myself honestly. But let's wait until we have our ship first."
Luffy then takes a second to think. "Now that I think about it, the next island we head to we'll be meeting up with usopp, and then sanji soon after. I think we should try to get the grand fleet started sooner rather then later, and a bigger crew will be good." Luffy says which shocks Yamato. Yamato thought Luffy would try to do things the same as before, but is impressed all the same.
Yamato hugs Luffy tight. "Let me go yamao!" Luffy says as he's being crushed. "Sorry." Yamato says releasing him. "Well let's get some rest. Tomorrow we set sail again."

Link morali: good question, so I realize that I never explained how Yamato got his cuffs off. So you are correct that ace couldn't do it, so basically what I sort of implied in chapter one is until Ace arrived at wano that Yamato would be working on his armotment haki so he could leave the island sooner. Or you it could be possible that someone that was from whitebeards crew when ace went to wano might have had advanced armorerment that could have done it then.
also I've been thinking more and more about potential crew, should hatchi join? And at what point? Like part of me wants him to join after arlong is beaten, but idk. Anyways thanks for reading!
