PROLOGUE
Tsukino Usagi slowly crept up behind him, careful not to make a noise. All of a sudden she let out a squeal: "HI!"
Her target jumped, blinking owlishly up at the moon princess. He started in recognition, smiling ruefully. She would never grow up... and yet everyone liked her all the better for it.
"Why hello," greeted Paru.
Usagi beamed at her friend. They had stumbled upon each other in the library (she was of course dragged there by Ami) a couple weeks ago and already they acted as if they had known each other forever, despite age and personality differences.
Paru took out something that he had been working on, and handed it to Usagi.
"Here's a project that I've been doing in my spare time... lucky that I found you before I finished. It's a little something I've been translating from ancient speech which you might find interesting. Regrettable that I've only just begun, but I'll be handing you more parts as time goes on."
She took the papers with interest, recognizing Paru's scrawly handwriting. Her eyes widened at the words written in italics: i Translated into modern speech from the recordings of the record-keeper of the moon by Paru Urap/i. Could this mean that Paru knew about her other identity? Usagi looked up, a question on her lips. Paru had disappeared. Shaking her head, she resumed reading.
