[Midoriya Residence, Wednesday of Week 2]
Izuku was enjoying his favorite cereal, it was called "Mighty'Os", when C.C walked into the kitchen carrying her plushie, Cheese-kun, and sat down beside him.
She grabbed some toast & jelly as well as some orange juice, then began watching a video on her phone about the history of the Shie Hassaikai. Izuku stared at her in confusion as he chewed on his cereal.
"What? Speak if you've got something to say" said the immortal witch, pausing her video and looking up at the teen. Izuku sighed as he finished his bowl of cereal.
"Umm…why the sudden intrigue on the yakuza?" asked Izuku. She gently squeezed her plushie as she spoke.
"Do you remember the man who attempted to rob your store?" asked C.C. Izuku nodded as he remembered the man's peculiar shopping basket.
"Well, I remember getting a look at him before All Might left with him. He was wearing a black bird mask, which reminded me of the yakuza group. You may be in danger" said the woman sternly. Izuku's face paled before she laughed, further confusing the boy.
"What's so funny about me being in danger?!" shouted Izuku.
"I just find it funny because the geass you have is more than enough to keep you safe" said C.C with a smirk. Izuku groaned as he stood up to grab his backpack.
The past day had been fairly peaceful despite his encounter with the explosive blond the day prior, which left the boy a little bit worried but there was nothing that he could do but remain cautious.
"I'm heading out, bye sis" yelled Izuku as he headed towards the door.
"Be careful and watch your back" said the greenette as she went back to watching her video.
'Well, my morning just got ruined. I can't let this information ruin my good mood though afterall I finally have friends! Although Shinso is a work in progress…' the boy's thoughts came to a halt as he opened the front door. He didn't expect to see Mei sitting on the steps of his apartment but there she was.
"Oh, hey Izuku! I was wondering…if we could walk to school together? I hear that's what friends do so I wanted to try it" exclaimed Mei, smiling. Izuku just nodded as the two started walking towards Aldera.
Izuku felt a sudden chill as he looked over his shoulder at the street they were walking down. He noticed a rather muscular man with a bird mask staring at him, causing the boy to grab Mei's hand and run towards their school's entrance.
"I-Izuku?! What's wrong? Your skin's so pale!" exclaimed Mei, slightly panting. Izuku breathed in slowly as he released her hand & blushed as he rubbed his neck.
"S-Sorry about that Hatsume! I really didn't mean to scare you, but we were being followed. So, my priority was keeping you safe" said Izuku. Mei grinned as her face grew redder by the second, she looked away as she patted his back.
"I-I appreciate that, Izuku. L-Lets go in before we're late" said the pink haired girl, speeding off into the building. Izuku looked behind him and saw no one there, he sighed as he entered the building.
[1st Period]
Izuku walked into the classroom, ignoring the students muttering their usual insults about him. He watched as Bakugo entered the classroom, taking a seat without saying a word, which made the boy feel uncomfortable.
As the class went on, Izuku caught the blond staring at him from time to time. Izuku was tempted to use his geass and order the boy to leave him alone, but he knew that doing so wouldn't help in the long run.
As the first period came to an end, Izuku grabbed his backpack and made his way to his next period. He was stopped by the blonde, who let off sparks in his palms as he spoke.
"Deku! What the hell happened after I cornered your ass two days ago? If you lie, I'll kill you!" screamed the boy. Izuku gulped as he came up with a believable lie.
"You don't remember? Y-You knocked me out, Kaachan. Then, you left the school…" said Izuku, anxiously. Izuku sighed in relief as Bakugo began walking away while scoffing.
"Don't you ever talk back to me like you did before, or you're dead" said Bakugo, angrily. Izuku just quickly left for his next class as he wanted to avoid any more confrontations. He still was thinking about the member of the Shie Hassaikai who was following him & Mei.
[2nd Period]
Izuku entered history class with slumped shoulders. His day hadn't been going so great but he had to remain positive. He sat down and pulled out his notebook as he noticed Shinso wave at him when he entered the classroom. Their teacher was giving a lesson on the first hero group in America, the Justice League.
Izuku found it interesting how the leader of the justice league was actually quirkless, yet was the smartest member of the group. His classmates laughed at the idea that someone quirkless was the group's leader as they all looked towards Izuku, who just smiled, causing them all to scoff and look away.
Shinso stared at the green haired boy curiously before returning to his notes. After they finished up their notes, they were handed an assignment to partner up with someone to write a biography on a member of the Justice League, everyone ignored Izuku's requests to partner up except for Shinso, who agreed to work with him.
"So, the Dark Knight is the guy I'm interested in writing about. I assume you are as well?" asked the purple haired teen. Izuku nodded as he pulled out the notes he took on the vigilante turned legendary hero.
"Do you believe that he was the leader of the league? I know this may be rude to ask but I just wanted your perspective" said Izuku, hesitantly.
"Izuku, leadership potential has nothing to do with your quirk. So, yes I believe he could've been the leader of the league, although he probably wasn't the strongest. They did say that he was more of an underground hero and was the best in America at the time" said Shinso, smiling as he mentioned the part about the hero being the best at underground work. Izuku took mental note of that as Shinso's quirk would be perfect for underground work.
By the end of class, it turned out that the two were the only ones who finished the assignment as most of the other students just fooled around, so their teacher had to extend the due date to the next day. Shinso sighed in annoyance, while Izuku just chuckled as they both put their notebooks in their backpacks. Izuku spoke with him as they headed to the door.
"Shinso umm, would you like to join me and my friend at lunch?" asked Izuku, as he rubbed his neck. The boy just nodded as he left the classroom, leaving Izuku standing in shock at his acceptance of his request before heading to his next class.
[3rd Period]
As Izuku walked into art class, he noticed Himiko staring at him. When he waved at her, she began smiling as she pulled out her notebook. Izuku took a seat as their class began, halfway through the class, Toga passed him a note. When he looked at it it read the following:
[Hey Izu-kun, I was wondering about who you're going to draw for the assignment] Izuku grinned as he began writing on the paper. Toga looked at him with eyes full of curiosity as she grabbed the paper from his hand.
[All Might, he's my favorite hero! Who are you going to draw Toga-san?] She smirked as she spent the next 3 minutes writing. Izuku looked over to her and was confused as she was still writing, then she tapped him on the shoulder, handing the boy the paper.
[Izu-kun, I plan on drawing my personal hero, Vlad King! He's awesome, especially with his blood manipulation quirk, which personally means alot to me since I share a blood related quirk. Don't ask me about it, I already told you last time that I don't want to talk about it alright? Can I see your drawing before you turn it in?] Izuku grinned as she had dropped a hint as to what her quirk was. He surmised that she probably didn't like her quirk that much. He wrote quickly on the paper as he handed it back to her and went back to his notes. Toga read his response as she went back to her notes as well.
Near the end of class, Izuku walked over to her desk, ignoring the peculiar looks from his classmates. He understood that she was one of the more popular girls in the class but she had befriended him. So, who was he to care if people found it weird that he wanted to talk with his own friend?
"Hey Izu-kun! Oh, is that your drawing?" asked the blond girl, as she was handed his drawing. Izuku rubbed his neck as she stared at it with starstruck eyes.
"Yeah…I tried to capture his smile the best way I could. I just hope that it looks go-" the boy was cut off by Himiko, who clasped his hands as she smiled brightly. Izuku blushed slightly as she spoke.
"Izuku this is…AMAZING! If you drew me this good, I-I'd kiss you!" exclaimed Himiko, inching closer to his face. Izuku's face turned red as he covered his face with his hands in embarrassment, some boys glared at him, probably jealous that he received such a comment from her.
"T-T-Toga, it really isn't anything special! I'll do my best to capture your image in the portrait, I swear" said Izuku, shyly. Toga hugged him as he stood flustered as he wasn't used to being so close with any girl before.
"Here's my drawing…it's not as good as yours but I'm proud of it, you know" said the girl, fiddling with her fingers as he stared at her drawing.
It certainly was the blood hero: Vlad King, he really liked her style of drawing as it gave it a more cartoonish appearance. She even had extra details in his fangs, and scar as well as the details of how she shaded his blood to differentiate it from the blood flowing through the tubes of the hero's gauntlets.
"Toga, this is phenomenal! I'm shocked at the amount of detail that you put into this, especially the distinction of his blood. You really are amazing" said Izuku, ecstatically.
This caused the girl to blush slightly as she had a goofy grin on her face, the boy didn't notice this however as he continued gushing over her artwork. After that, they both submitted their drawings and as they began to head to lunch, Izuku ran up to Toga, who was talking to her friends. She looked behind her before a gentle smile appeared on her face, Izuku panted lightly as her friends looked away from him in disgust.
"Oh, hey Izu-kun. Did you need something?" asked Toga with a confused expression.
"Oh umm, yeah…I was wondering if you would like to join me & my friends for lunch? I understand if you already had plans with your friends, of course" said Izuku, rubbing his neck in embarrassment.
"Me, really? Umm…" the girl looked over to her friends, who just shrugged as one of the girls spoke up.
"Look Toga, if you want to have lunch with him, we don't mind. Just join us tomorrow, okay?" asked her friend. Toga nodded as she turned back to Izuku.
"Guess, I'll be joining you! Let's get going" said Toga, smiling as she grabbed his hand and ran towards the cafeteria.
[Lunch Break]
After getting their lunches, Izuku led Toga to the table where he & Mei ate. After 2 minutes, he saw Mei searching for him seemingly, as he waved to get her attention. She ran up to the duo, slamming down her tray on the table excitedly, Toga looked on in shock & confusion as she had no prior knowledge of who this girl was.
"Hey Izu-kun, who is she?" whispered Toga into his ear, as Mei grinned at the two. Izuku chuckled as he answered her question.
"Oh, she's my new friend, Mei Hatsume. She's great and extremely smart, seeing as she's the best in our math class & planning to be a support hero" said Izuku proudly, while Mei was struggling with opening a coffee can. Izuku grimaced as Mei had totally made his statement look like a lie.
"I-I see…" said Toga, questioningly.
"So Izuku, who's blonde? New friend I assume, well it's nice to meet ya! I'm Mei Hatsume, inventor, founder of the engineering club and future support hero" exclaimed Mei with a determined expression. Toga was taken aback by the girl's bold & carefree attitude but just went with the flow.
"Heya, I'm Himiko Toga and I'm your senior! I'm a member of the theater club and I like pomegranates" said Toga happily. Mei took mental note of this as she dug into her lunch. Izuku turned around as he felt a tap on his shoulder, standing behind him was Shinso.
"Mind if I join in on the fun?" asked Shinso, as he took a seat next to Mei. The two girl's were taken back by the boy's appearance but found it interesting how both he & Izuku shared bags under their eyes.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Mei Hatsume"
"I'm Himiko Toga, and your my kohai"
Izuku smiled as he'd finally gotten all of his friends to meet. The four teens discussed abit about each other, such as their hobbies, favorite things to eat, how they met Izuku, and favorite heroes. When the topic got to quirks, Izuku pulled out his notebook, seemingly out of thin air, as he never got either girl's quirks.
"So, what are your quirks Toga, Mei?" asked Shinso, moving away from their favorite heroes. Toga shivered, while Mei rubbed her neck. Izuku raised an eyebrow at both weird reactions to the question, then Mei spoke up.
"Ahh, well my quirk is called Zoom. It's pretty self-explanatory to be honest, I can zoom in on whatever is in my line of sight. If I try really hard I can see up to 5 kilometers, it's not the most spectacular quirk but it has its uses, I guess" said Mei, uncharacteristically unenthusiastic. Izuku finished writing up his notes on her quirk as he looked up at her.
"Hatsume, your quirk is very interesting. Yeah, it's not fancy but I can imagine how helpful it's been with making your inventions!" said Izuku, smiling at her. She grinned as she took another sip of her coffee. Toga remained quiet as she began to shrink in her chair, which Shinso noticed.
"Hey, what's wrong?" asked the tired teen. She quickly shook her head as she faked a smile.
"Nonono, I'm good! Just don't like talking about my quirk alright?!" said Toga, with an angry expression. The atmosphere of the table turned cold for a bit as Mei & Izuku looked at each other worriedly.
"It's all good, I have a villainous quirk called Brainwashing. Won't tell you how I can activate it but you can probably infer how if you want. You can probably imagine how people treated the boy who could take control of your mind, so I'm used to being ostracized by people, just because of my quirk. You don't have to tell us today but one day I'd hope you could trust us enough to tell us, especially the quirk nerd and gears for brains here" said Shinso, as he took a sip of his juice box. Toga stared at him as she spoke up.
"Thanks Shinso, I really appreciate that…sorry for yelling at you. I just didn't want you all to leave me because it's happened in the past, I'll tell you one day, promise" said Toga, finishing up an apple.
"Well, lunch is almost over. Me & Mei have to head to math class, could I create a group chat for all of us?" asked Izuku shyly.
"Sure" said Shinso, scratching his hair.
"I don't mind" answered Toga, grinning again.
"Hey! You two should totally drop by the engineering club one day, me and Izuku will definitely have our hands full. You guys could test our gadgets, if you want" proposed Mei, happily. Shinso just shrugged, while Toga just nodded as the two ran out of the cafeteria. They left the two teens standing there alone as Toga spoke up to break the silence.
"Hey Shinso, w-what's your opinion on blood quirks?" asked Toga, shyly. He just stared at her for a second before rubbing his neck.
"Umm…they're disgusting" said the boy seriously. Toga immediately paled as the boy started laughing, catching her off guard.
"I was just joking! Lighten up, jeez" said Shinso. Toga lightly punched him in the arm, while pouting angrily.
"THAT'S NOT FUNNY! Humph! Your a jerk, you know that?" said the blond girl as she began walking away. Shinso ran after her, chuckling while apologizing.
"So, what do you really think? AND no jokes this time, insomniac" said Toga.
"My opinion on blood quirks is that they're interesting. Nothing much else to add, yeah they get stigmatized a lot but they're no less different from any other quirk" said the boy nonchalantly. Toga's face beamed with joy at his answer, as she hugged him tightly, confusing the boy.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you! That meant a lot to me, so really thank you Shinso. Well I've gotta go see as I'll be late for science class" said Toga as she released the boy. He waved her goodbye before heading to his next class. For Shinso, it seemed like he'd made an interesting group of friends.
[End of the Day]
As school let out, Izuku began walking home until he noticed that Mei was running up to him. She tugged at his sleeve as she pointed towards the school, confusing the boy.
"Izuku, I need your help! Could you join the club? The student council president is planning on shutting down my club if I don't get a second member!" exclaimed Mei, frantically. Izuku just nodded as he was already planning on joining the club. After signing the forms to join the club, Mei let him head home as he was very tired from the long school day.
"DEKU! I had a shitty day & I need to let off some steam, so get your ass over here!" yelled Bakugo, appearing from behind the boy as he had gotten close to his apartment. Izuku sighed as he responded to the boy.
"Look, Kaachan. I'm too tired to deal with this, so can we please do this another time?" begged Izuku. This only infuriated the blond boy as he rushed towards Izuku, however before he could touch him, C.C spoke up from in front of the two boys.
"My my, if it isn't Katsuki Bakugo. It seems like you are picking on my brother again…" said the woman slyly.
"The fuck do you want? We're just talking!" shouted Bakugo, in an annoyed tone. She just wagged her finger as stepped in front of her little brother and began to threaten the boy.
"Since my brother is too weak to stand up to you then I will. If I see a single scratch on him ever again then I will do my utmost best to make sure you never make it into a hero school anywhere in the country. Since, you want to be the next All Might then you'll understand what your next course of action is. Just remember I'm not joking, leave my brother alone" said C.C angrily. Bakugo paled as he walked away in anger, while Izuku turned to his sister with an angry expression.
"WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?! He's only going to hurt me more!" exclaimed Izuku.
"No, because I wasn't joking. I will definitely report his behavior to UA & every other hero school, so stop complaining. Heck, this wouldn't even be an issue if you just used your geass. What will you do if the Shie Hassaikai kidnapped all of your friends, hmm? Will you let them die because of your childish morals or will you use the power that I bestowed upon you? I'm getting tired of repeating myself so now I will be a bit more proactive. If you don't want me to do this, then use your powers to defend yourself. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a show to watch" said C.C, finishing up her speech as she headed back into the apartment.
Izuku just stood still for a few minutes processing what she had just told him, as he could hear the frustration in her voice. While he knew that the power was his, he could tell that she was getting annoyed at how he kept faking weakness when he was pretty capable. He decided to push that issue for later as he entered his apartment, dejectedly. He failed to notice the person watching from the corner of the street.
"Izuku Midoriya, Age 14 & works at Go-Go department store on weekends. Goes to Aldera Junior High and is quirkless…interesting, he's lucky to not bear the disease that we call quirks. I don't have any data on his sister though…oh well that won't matter, all I need is the boy.
Thanks for reading chapter 2 of Outcasts. Sorry about the delay! I actually had to change the story from a slice of life to a more canon like story. I was struggling to come up with what to do in chapter 2, but I definitely have a better idea now.
My main focus once again is still Vento Verde, my first story if you haven't checked it out, I recommend it. I won't give up on this story but expect an inconsistent upload schedule sadly. I'll try upload every two weeks at the least, so I'm going to have to take back the weekly upload promise.
Thanks for reading my stories and please leave reviews as they help me gauge peoples opinions on the chapters as well as if your interested for seeing more of the story. See you next time!
