Ch6

Enzan slammed his fist on the desk nearly toppling a bunch of papers as he examined Blues' injuries. Damn how can a mere civilian have such a powerful navi? The battle against Hikari Netto and Slur was supposed to be a one sided victory for him. Instead he got humiliated and Blues was critically injured to the point of deletion.

Staring at Blues on the screen a mixture of sadness and anger welled up inside of him. That navi beat us without breaking a sweat. He typed on his keyboard as the healing and recovery programs took effect. Blues was close to deletion. Damn it how are we supposed to compete?

Frowning at the screen he watched as Blues made a slow recovery. He is barely 20% recovered. We can do it. Most of the navis here are weak anyways.

Are you a coward or do you always hide behind your daddy? Hikari Netto's insults floated in his head making him clench the computer mouse tightly. I'll show him. Next time we fight it he will pay for those words.

"E-Enzan-sama," Blues muttered from the computer.

"Blues! Just focus on recovering," he said nearly jumping up from his seat.

His navi looked at him and nodded. "Forgive me for my failure."

"Don't worry we'll win next time," he said firmly. "We'll show them our power." His body shook as he remembered Netto's cocky grin. You'll regret those words. I'll show you our power.

"Sir I believe I am too damaged," Blues said. "I doubt I can make a full recovery in time for the next match."

"You won't have to," he said folding his arms his cold gaze reflecting on the monitor. "We can win even if you aren't fully recovered."

Blues looked at him and nodded. If he disagreed he didn't say anything. "I will do as you command sir." His voice as calm as always. His navi would follow his commands to the letter as he always did.

"Hikari Netto and Slur. Both of them just got lucky," he said clenching his fists. A part of him was uneasy and that just made him angrier. "We will show them our true strength next time."

His netnavi looked at him and nodded. "I won't disappoint you again. I shall follow your orders to the end and defeat our enemies."

"I expect nothing less," he said as he looked over the recovery programs. "We will perfect the program advance, with it Netto and Slur will know the consequences of getting in our way."

Recover nearing 25%. Damn it can he recover faster? A part of him knew he needed Blues at 100% capacity to fight against Slur but between fighting in the tournament and training there was little they could do. We'll win. It was just luck last time.

"Don't worry sir," Blues said. "I shall master the program advance for you. I won't fail you again I swear."

He looked at the navi who was the closest thing he had to a friend in this world and nodded. "Good. Come one we have a lot to do."

Hikari Netto you and your navi are just pebbles. I will crush you both with our combined strength. We will win this tournament no matter the cost.

"Long Sword slot in!" Netto said as he inserted the battle chip into the PET.

Come on you can do it. He watched as the two swords on Slur's hands glowed brightly. His navi raised her hands as they began to merge forming a column of light. Come on Slur.

The large light formed a sword but as Slur brought it down the light disappeared in a quiver. "Forgive me Netto-kun," she said frowning at the ground.

He sighed and shook his head. "It's alright we'll learn it eventually. We just need to practice some more." The truth was they had been practicing for the past two hours and still they haven't made any progress. We've been practicing hard these past few days but still no success.

"Let's take a break for now Slur. You did a good job already," he said.

His navi smiled and bowed at him. "As you wish."

His match wasn't until later so now was a good time to get some rest. He went over to the stands and sat next to Meiru. "Netto-kun Enzan and Blues are fighting," she said pointing to the arena.

Looking at the stadium he saw Enzan his face showing now emotion as Blues fought his opponent. The red navi's movements were more sluggish than before.

"He is still injured," he muttered watching in shock as Blues still managed a victory.

Meiru nodded. "Yeah everyone has noticed. Looks like you and Slur did a good amount of damage to him, he still hasn't recovered."

"And he is still making him fight like that?" He asked in disbelief though from what he knew about Enzan he wasn't that shocked. "How could he force his navi to fight in his present condition?"

Meiru shook her head. "Well from what I hear Enzan is known for being a ruthless operator. He trains a lot and doesn't go for anything short of perfection."

He watched as Blues won. The red navi tried to appear calm but his posture was sluggish. Is winning all this guy cares about? As much as he himself wanted to win he wouldn't force his navi like that.

"How pitiful," Slur muttered from her PET.

"I know. It really is sad," he said softly. "I would never make you fight like that."

"I know," Slur said. "Don't worry if he is our opponent again we won't have to worry about losing."

He nodded. "His operator is a real piece of work, I can tell he won't go down without a fight." Clenching his fists he glared at Enzan. "I won't let him win no matter what though."

"Netto-kun your next match is up," Meiru said pointing to the screen. It would be a team match with him and Commander Beef against Blasterman and Stoneman.

"More of WWW's nonsense," he sighed as he got up.

"Good luck Netto," Meiru said with a smile.

He nodded. "Slur are you ready?"

Looking down at his PET his navi smiled at him. "I'm ready Netto-kun."

Slur sliced a boulder thrown at her with a pair of cords. "Is this the best WWW has got?" she asked as Sharkman did battle against Blasterman.

"You both shall perish," Blasterman said as he through a series of bombs at them.

"Area steal slot in," Netto said.

She was quickly teleported away as Sharkman managed to doge the attack. "Slur lets try it again," Netto said. "The program advance."

"If you wish," she said. It won't work. They as much as they tried they could not get in sync enough to make it work. But if you wish to do it I shall do my best to make it work.

"Sword slot in," Netto said.

A sword appeared on her left arm as she summoned some cords to cut through another stone cube. "Wide sword slot in!" Her operator said.

She charged at stone man as the other sword appeared on her hand. Sharkman was keeping Blasterman occupied but the water based navi was evenly matched at the moment.

Stoneman sent another cube towards her. She cut it in half with the blades on her hands. "Alright Slur lets go. Long sword slot in!" Netto yelled.

Come on we can do it. She felt the familiar energy envelop her as she raised her hands into the sky. A pillar of light formed over her as the program advance began to activate.

I won't fail in this task. She was supposed to bond with this boy and watch over him to learn about humanity. So she thought of him. The way Netto smiled and helped everyone even if they didn't deserve it.

The pulse of the power was stronger than before. Looking at the enemy Stoneman and Blasterman began to fire at her. It is now or never. She brought the light down but as always it flashed and caused a little flicker before disappearing. "Damn it," she swore as Netto put a barrier battle chip in to block the attacks.

This attack is so basic why am I having trouble with it? Her fists clenched up as she glared at her opponents. I have mastered other attacks why can't I master this one?

"It's alright Slur we'll eventually figure it out," Netto said doing his best to hide his frustration "Water Tower slot in."

She summoned a tower of water and sent it at Blasterman just as Sharkman went after the navi. "Lets take them out," Netto said. "Vulcan slot in."

She fired various shots at Stoneman but navi only grunted in frustration. "Canon slot in!" Netto said.

Stoneman grunted as the canon shot hit him. "I'll end this now Netto-kun," she said as she summoned some cords in her hand.

"Go for it!" Her operator cheered.

Summoning her cords trapped her enemies down. "Lets end this now," she said summoning a pair of swords in her hand.

Sharkman nodded and the two charged at their struggling opponents. Her swords cut through Stoneman, the navi moaned in pain as she sliced through him. Blasterman was similarly taken down by Sharkman.

The crowds cheered as she and Sharkman were declared the winners. Her operator looked happy though she could tell he was still disappointed about the program advance.

Lord Duo would not be pleased. She gave her operator a small smile before going back to her PET. This attack is basic but requires us to be in sync. Damn it I'm doing my best why can't we bond?

"Slur are you ok?" her operator asked.

"Oh yes. Sorry about not being able to do the program advance," she said avoiding Netto's gaze.

Her operator smiled at her, that same warm smile he gave everyone, even those who didn't deserve it. "Don't worry I know we can do it. We'll just practice some more."

"Of course," she said noticing the faith he had for her in his eyes. Looking into them she felt a flicker in her chest as a warm sensation spread throughout her body. That sensation is getting stronger, just what is it?

Shaking her head she looked down at her hands. I'll do my best to bond with you yet the more I do I fear what I will become. Clenching her fists she shook her head. I am his servant first and foremost. Anything else is of no importance.
